Jeeze! Black ice + speed? Or swerving to avoid a Martial in the headlights?
I am sure some people on here will somehow manage to make this an Ole out thread. I could imagine it would go something like this "Ole was at the wheel hence the car crash".

Wow! How lucky to have the car slide right under the barrier. Someone watching over him. On another note, what a beast to have just gone training straight after! man is a legend and has to be getting close to dislodging De Gea.

Feels good to have a cross coming into the box and having no worries because your keeper is coming out to claim. Wish we had more of that.

Reminds me of Van der Sar.

Im seriously okay with him making mistakes, even if he fumbles at occasional corners and drips a ball through his hands - it's his handling inside the box that I miss from a goal keeper since VDS.

Given De Gea’s sketchy form for quite a while now, I think Romero has done more than enough to earn a run in the team...........might do DDG good to have some competition.

How does his clean sheet record fare against other number 2’s in the league and possible in Europe? Surely one of the best?

I think the guy deserves the No.1 shirt. He hasn’t put a foot wrong for a long time.
He seems much better than De Gea dealing with high balls into the box which has been our Achilles heel in recent times.

And the fact that he’s never held the club hostage or even so much as complained makes him all the more likeable

He’s our #1 keeper currently and it is not even particularly close. Romero and Henderson is the future.

The problem is we are burdened with De Gea on ludicrous wages unless another oligarch arrives and needs to make a statement signing. Nobody else would consider paying him what we do.

Got to give him a run of games he’s been glass and commands the box for crosses

There have been rumours floating around that he has a bad knee but he should get a chance over ddg.

Defence normally look assured with him in goal

Granted the games he plays are 'easier' than the ones DDG has but he does the commanding thing better. He comes off his line, he comes for crosses and looks more authoritative

Really shows what a proactive keeper can do. He is not an exceptional shot stopper, but just makes the right decisions at the right time, and is quick off the line as our CBs can play a higher line.

A 33 year old goalkeeper that has played 7 league games in the last 7 seasons is the future?

People always massively overrate Romero because he only players against teams that are a league or more below us.

And this is why I have always said Schmeichel was a better keeper than DDG. A proactive keeper makes things look easy. DDG makes things look very difficult and spectacular. Would be nice to see Romero get a run of 5-10 games just to see if he could make the spot his. But we know from Mourinhos time in real Madrid that making such a change can be catastrophic for yourself.

Well then he should be given the chance to play in the PL and we can see how he fares against teams there.
Also 33 for a goalkeeper is not that much - see Buffon still playing at 40/41 and Zoff did it too and many others.

Yeah, he's part of our future. We would be better served going into next season with Romero and Henderson and moving on from De Gea.

There's not even any point grappling with the stupidity of your second sentence, because it has no basis in reality.

Buffon has been finished for years. Romero was last a starter back in 2013 and he lost his place and sat on the bench for the next 2 years at Sampdoria. At this point he's a specialist backup keeper and I have no faith in him being nr. 1.

He plays cups and EL matches against opponents that aren't as good at us. If you can't understand that then I don't know what to tell you.

I still disagree with your comments.

Let's give him a chance in the PL and then we can talk.

When he plays consistently he makes quite a few mistakes. Romero is a huge confidence player too. He's the best ever bench goalkeeper so let's keep it that way.

Why don’t Argentina play him?
Because he can't even get in his club side presumably? I like him though, give him a chance in the league, it's important that good form and professionalism are rewarded.

Isn't he still Argentina no. 1, with almost 100 caps for NT? He has international experience (and wasn't famous for fecking up there either, not like our current no. 1).

Also, VDS joint us when he was 35 y.o.

He's not been their nr. 1 since before the WC but it's not like he's being kept out by some great keepers. Emiliano Martinez was called up for the last NT break which should tell you all about Argentina's depth in that department. Rojo is also

Yeh. Maybe I just want to see some changes. I kind of frustrated with DDG.
Always wonder of why Romero never get a decent run in the League. For instance, at home game against weaker team.
