I was genuinely excited when Sancho arrived., as he looked the real deal in clips. What a joke this lad is. A coward of the highest order. Shirks out of every tackle. Loses every 50/50 even 70/30’s he bottles it. His 2nd touch is a tackle. Can’t pass, can’t shoot, never heads or tackles as it hurts. Stunned how poor he is.

I cannot stand watching Sancho. What excuse does he have for not trying? This is winding me up so much

Someone needs to take charge in the forward areas in Bruno’s absence. They are all just looking at each other expecting something to happen.

Yeah good point. That goes for Maguire as well. He deals with that press and he takes 3 players out of the equation. Martinez has shown that he can do it.

At this point, if Ten Hag wants us to progress the ball in a certain way, Maguire (and De Gea, arguably) has to have no part in any future United team.
    Absolutely spot on.

Nothing really wrong with DDG making that pass. It's a perfectly reasonable decision in that moment and his captain is telling him to do it. This is all on Maguire. He's not "surrounded by 3 Sevilla players." He just fecked it up all on his own.
Only those who have an agenda on De Gea put this all or even mostly on De Gea.

Maguire clearly panicked and gave the ball -- the goal and possibly our hope of lifting the EL trophy as well -- away when he panicked when all he needed to do was to turn with the ball. And of he felt there was nothing he could with the ball, then attack the ball and hammer it past touch.

Casemiro's been terrible since his return from suspension and it's very concerning

Scholes won't blame any English player. Maguire asks for the ball. it's not a goal if DeGea passes it to Varane,Martinez.
Think it's 50/50, there's a clip a few pages back where DDG plays the same ball to Martinez and he deals with it but DDG knows that's he's passing the ball to someone he can't really trust. It's just a really shit situation for everyone really.

Maguire has zero composure, he shits himself when he’s on the ball under any kind of pressure. He has no place in a team with any aspirations of playing football.
Then maybe we should stop asking him to play it like that ? Isn't there a way for managers to be more flexible with their tactics when the players aren't suited ? Or was the goal 100% solely on Harry ?

Both Juve and Roma could be out tonight and we're losing as well. Such a shame because this is easier route to a trophy than Brighton/City.

Blaming DDG more then Maguire is crazy.

If you're saying that DDG needs to make a better decision there, then how can that same logic not be applied to Maguire x1000
Maguire is shit, needs to be dragged out the club, agree blah blah etc but yes De Gea 'deserves' more blame. He has the ball and the whole pitch in front of him. It's the most advantageous position to be, not to mention he's been a team mate of Maguire for years so he knows his ability.

They were both shit so it's a moot point really.

People showing that Martinez clip he evades several defender is NOT a good example of a pass. It was an extremely highly risky ball to a player, who pulled it off. 99/100 you should not play it. It's the exact same thing against Brentford where it happened to Eriksen.

I can't work out if casemiros absence in this game is a result of the general dysfunction of the team or his own fault. It really feels like he has been missing every time sevolle have attacked which is odd for a top class dm, and especially one as experienced as him
I think they are working patterns of transition which avoid the areas he is usually in, they are very wide when they break.

Playing that pass is how you get out of the high press. Maguire has to first-time a lofted pass out to the right and then we're clear and they are three men down defensively. This is what people are asking him to do.

100 percent Slab-asses fault. He's as slow as shit and as slow witted under pressure as shit is. I don't want anything bad to happen to him, just make him go away. Hopefully a change of scenery will reduce the pressure. He's clearly not good under any kind of pressure.
not 100% on slab ass, but you’re right he’s just not good enough. needs to be moved on

Because De Gea has more twice as much time, and twice as much information to make his decision (considering he can see the entire fecking pitch before playing that pass, unlike Maguire who's facing his own goal)

I don’t think it has anything to do with mentality.

Our CBs stand extremely deep. When a Sevilla player gets the ball they have so much room to play up on. It’s impossible to press hard and take away space when the other team has 3-4 easy options every time they get the ball.
They are at us every time and winning most 50/50s. We couldn't pass a parcel and are very lethargic. To me it is obvious a mental problem as we are so much better than we are showing.

We really aren’t in a position to be buying a GK in the summer but you have to question the logic in extending De Gea when he so obviously isn’t cut out for this style of playing football.

to everyone, agreed that we are down 1-0 due to chuckle brothers. but out attack is not working out at all. To me that's a bigger problem.

When your CB shows and asks for the ball, I don't you can blame the GK too much. Maguire is the trigger for their press, it's clear as day.
Of course you can. Players are constantly moving and wanting the ball, its up to the person on the ball who can see whether its a good idea to pass or not. If your CB asks for a pass and its a shit idea, you get rid of the ball and if hes unhappy about it tell him he was messing up. Thats it.

De Gea messed up, Maguire with supreme awareness could have salvaged it if he looked over his shoulder and let the ball run between the 3 players closing him down. So he could have saved it. He could also have put his body in the way and bought a foul. And instead he did the worst thing and kicked it straight to the player.

The fact that 3 players are literally right next to him when the pass arrives surely means it's a dangerous pass? He looks open, but he isn't. As clearly shown by the fact he got tackled and we conceded.

Yes, some players can sometimes play out of this situation. It doesn't mean it's a good pass to play

The pace of the pass is what fecks it up. It doesn't reach Maguire until he's closed down by three players. This is 100 % on De Gea.

Maguire asked for the ball, still, De Gea knows he's shite on the ball.
It was a shite bobbly pass too.

We could say there's no way should he be giving Maguire the ball there, but if you're gonna do it at least give him a decent pass. It's the bobble that kills Maguire, he tries to play it first time but miskicks it on the bounce. If that's played flat into his feet he has a better chance.

That part is Maguire's fault, he should know there's half a pitch of space behind him and be turning into it.

Both are equally to blame, DDG for the shit pass and Maguire for his panic and total lack of awareness.

Maguire is standing in the same place when he asks for it and when he gets it. That's the main problem.
Slow to pass the ball back originally, then refuses to move when the ball is coming to him.
It's a major flaw of his. He constantly invites the press, but doesn't have the composure, agility, speed or technique to cope with it.
