Officially the best poker player on RAWK.
I'll wait a month til it's on game pass.
So far I think that's it's level. It's good, but nothing overly exceptional. I think SW fans who haven't played much else will love it, but all in all it's a bit of a mish-mash of better games. Plus it does need some work, so hopefully by then a few patches would have dropped.

Having said that it looks good and, although the framerate is causing sluggish inputs, there's nothing gamebreaking so far in terms of performance and bugs. So there's plenty of hope.

Problem is, as a souls game, it's weak. Very weak and on par with all the other so-so clones. It's like a jack of all trade. However, I'm finding it much more fun than stuff like Lords of the Fallen, maybe I've bought into the SW theme too!

As for enemy placement, whilst not as cheap, it's pretty much souls 2 of overwhelming and stun locks
So how bad in a scale from 1 to "Iron Keep in Scholar of the First Sin"?

Is anyone playing this on PC who can say how it runs btw?

I've been on the pro, but I'm thinking of switching as I really can't be dealing with how sluggish it is even on performance mode.
Playing with a GTX 1070. Too many noticeable frame drops on ‘Epic’ settings but on ‘High’ I get mostly smooth performance with drops now and again.

Cheers mate. How are you finding the controls? On the pro it can be a right pain jumping and grabbing things, and a lot of the times during boss fights it flat out ignores inputs.

It’s EA game, so won’t be on game pass and they usually give it 6 months before putting it on EA access.
Why must you ruin my hopes and dreams?
I have it on pro because my gf is a bitch ass gamer and it allows me to justify test run versions and get myself the PC one if they are good ;)
I sadly don't have a pro cause I had to void the warranty on my OG PS4 to get it working but I did build a brand new gaming pc so obviously the latter is my choice.

I'll probably still be using a controller to play it, like most pc games now, because they're so shittily optimised for keyboards :(

Played an hour this morning and was well impressed. Going to smash this over the weekend.

PC performance is pretty good, my 1070 @1440p is holding 60 FPS.

Guessing my Titan RTX would need a upgrade to not get lags in the game? :p

I really like it so far, though it's pretty obvious the original Xbox One hardware I'm running isn't powerful enough to get the most out of it. Have experienced some drops though it's still very playable so far. Have read that it gets worse on a certain planet I haven't reached yet so will keep an eye on performance

I'm not really enjoying it, just find it frustrating to play.
In what way? I'm 3 planets in on master and haven't found anything overly hard. Combat feels satisfying overall. My main complaint is tracking of enemy attacks seems a bit severe at times.

Yeah, it's not overly difficult. The tracking and instant recovery is artificial difficulty but mostly a nuisance rather than challenge.

I think it's only really frustrating in that parkour is just plain dull and seems a pointless addition. But all in all it could have been much worse and when you do get to fight it can be a lot of fun.

And as usual, just like all games that have them, people should go easy on the perks/skill points if they wany any challenge maintained. I mean merely unlocking the second or third attack (the charge one) makes the early stages a cakewalk.

Those fecking rats though. Their hitboxes seem to be in some alternate dimension, whereas mine occupies the entirery of any given planet but only when attacked by the rats.

I'd much rather fight Stormtroopers all day long. Parries are a bit unsatisfying though, you don't really feel the weight of the enemy's weaponl, and the animation doesn't make it immediately obvious whether your timing was correct or not.

Also, I wish Prauf was the protagonist instead of thr ginger sensation. I liked him.

Yeah it has a lot of collision issues. The telltale signs are even when running around, you seem to slightly float and occasionally get stuck on a pebble or very slight incline.

I'm convinced all their problems are tying everything to the frame rate which is a bad move, but one that's fixable.

The first Dark Souls also had its physics tied to the framerate and yet it had a lot less of these issues. Yeah, it wasn't exactly the hitbox porn of DS3 but much better than in this game.

I have no idea why they did it in the first place though, the Unreal Engine certainly doesn't require it.

Then again, please don't get the impression I dont like the game. I'm enjoying it, it's decent, it looks and sounds good, and so far I'd say it's the best Star Wars game since KotOR 2. Just still not a great Star Wars game.

Which is why it shouldn't be. And DS did have a lot of these issues, but far less noticeable due to to the slower nature. It's archaic, but like I say, patchable if they do it right.

Yeah it's a good game. I'm enjoying it more and more, the cheap difficulty (stun locking in 2019, really?) aside, the combat feels fun enough to make up for the terrible platforming sections and those laughable ice skating ones (I expect a big shiny star at the end of each one!). I'm not sure there's enough content with the powers and all that, and it doesn't really feel completely like a SW game, but all in all I'm never bored so far and want to play more so that's good.

As for SW games, the Jedi Knight series is immense. Especially on PC with mods where you can spend hours spawning dark and light jedi to fight each other whilst you watch  (also has a brilliant set of powers and is the best version of them in any game imo).

Well it feels unpolished and clunky. I was kind of enjoying the exploration, but everything else felt meh. It feels rushed like it's two or three patches away from being good.

I never really felt in control of it. I was using a lightsaber but it felt as clumsy and random as a blaster. The camera was a nuisance, enemy tracking a pain and feedback from blocking or hitting was often vague at best. Outside of the standard X attack the others were more likely to lead to my death than an enemies, if they worked at all. Four times in a row I used the charge attack on an enemy I'd locked on to and was facing, only for the ginger goon to shoot past them to either side and swing at nothing, which of course leads to either death or losing most of your health bar when they smack you from behind as you swing at nothing. Then I stopped using that move because it's a trap.

Sometimes I'd press buttons and the dialogue/sound cue would play but the action would not happen. Most often when asking BD-1 for a health pack, but it happened with basic X attacks and Force powers too even with a full bar.

Then there's getting around, he'd get stuck on nothing at times, would jump straight through ropes, hit ledges he's supposed to climb up on only to just turn around and let go. It would throw me into one of those slidey event things only for the camera to spin to face his dead eyed ginger face right before a corner which would again lead to death. Always in motion the camera is, visions you will see, in front of you, behind you. I was stuck in a room in Dathomir because he kept jumping through the rope, to the point I assumed I couldn't go that way. Then in desperation I tried it again, it worked and he jumped through the next rope.

I'm not a fan of the bonfire system in general, but if I have to trudge through all that again when I die then I'd rather it be fun trudging through it and my death actually felt like my fault. Only a handful of times did I feel like I'd fecked up rather than clunkiness getting the better of me. I'm not a Dark Souls fan, I can see why maybe Dark Souls fans might like it from a certain point of view, but I assume Dark Souls plays a bit better. There's a general lack of polish, the faces look dead and weird to the point I dunno if that Cere woman is supposed to be human or not, most humans keep their eyes inside their face. Enemies popping in as you walk towards them doesn't feel right. Environment's are good looking but feel empty, like they were designed for a game from a long time ago. They feel like game maps rather than environments. The customization feels tacked on because they couldn't think of what else to put in the chests at the last minute.

It's not terrible. It's just not for me, Clive. I was having fun at first, but it's worn me down already and my gaming time is limited so I'll just play something better. I'd love a good Star Wars game, but I'm not going to pretend it's better than it is and force myself to play through it just because it's Star Wars.

On a side note, I'm enjoying seeing so many streamers struggle with those rams on the second planet. I mean, come on

Judging from this thread this is a lousy games.

Obviously I'm not going to pour 60 bucks for a single player campaign game, probably much later when they're on sale.

Doesnt look like it has a replayability factor with everything being linear, and is there a new game plus? At least with souls game you have the options to farm yourself to death if you choose to.

I'd say the game isn't for you. I disagree with or haven't experienced a lot of those "issues". I'm genuinely enjoying it. Sorry.

I find targeting to be the biggest issue really. It doesn’t feel helpful in the slightest most of the time.

All in all though I’m loving the game.

Xbox One X, I had it on 4k mode and to be fair I didn't notice many framerate dips. I could try it on performance mode, but at this point I couldn't be arsed and I've other stuff to play. My new policy is if it doesn't work properly/isn't balanced right at launch then I will usually just move on and stop buying games from whoever made it. Which is going to quickly leave me not buying any games.

Those god damn rams fecked me up at times. Mostly from the charge attack completely missing them leaving me vulnerable, until I stopped using it.

I’m only a couple of hours in but it’s not lousy so far for me, I’m loving it.

84 on metacritic it’s getting very good reviews on average.

I actually like the ice skating parts, they're so silly.

The Jedi Knight games are great but the last one came out in 2003. That's why I'm saying we haven't had a truly great one since the KotORs.

It gets better and better tbh. Think I’m about half way through now.
Is it worth the full price though, or wait for a price drop? I’ll happily pay full price for games like GOW and Uncharted btw.

It's basically uncharted anyway, so you should like it.

I do, but it is sparse for a modern game. There's nothing really to look for or collect, and it is rough around the edges, but there is a decent game there.

I wouldn't call it a must play though, so it's up to you if you want to pay full price or wait.
