€70-90 million is a large amount for a “stop gap”, especially if we somehow make it back to the CL next season and buy Sancho for 100+Pepe would have been a nice stop gap though.
we need more options. there's no stopping us keeping Pepe and then still signing Sancho next year, Sancho is probably best on the left anyway.€70-90 million is a large amount for a “stop gap”, especially if we somehow make it back to the CL next season and buy Sancho for 100+
Really can’t understand this, Dalot is not a goal threat at all. I’d play Greenwood way before Dalot gets a game there.Id play dalot right wing with bissaka behind.
We're not getting in the Champions League if we keep a 4 3 3 formation without a new right winger. We have zero attacking threat from that side and AWB certainly isn't enough.€70-90 million is a large amount for a “stop gap”, especially if we somehow make it back to the CL next season and buy Sancho for 100+
That's what he should be. We've not been seriously linked with anyone for the right wing position since the Sancho rumours died down though, if it's not James it's probably going to be another season of makeshift options like Lingard and Mata.I was under the impression James would be the young, versatile attacking option who can play anywhere for this season, and not necessarily the set right winger.
Oh great...more inspiring links. Between him and Longstaff, we might as well aim for top 10, nevermind top 4.We've been recently linked with David Brooks, a right midfielder from Bournemouth, does anyone know anything about him?
There are plenty of talented RWs available for between 30-45m but we don't appear to be remotely interested in any of them, and I would be stunned if we do actually sign a RW now.If Ziyech moves for 30M it would seem insane for us not to sign him, right?.
I have no earthly idea why we didn't sell Lingard to some midtable prem team for 20M, let Mata go back to Spain with our appreciation, and use their combined wages and that fee on someone like Ziyech who has his flaws but works very hard and is way more productive than those guys. Versatile enough to be our 10 when we play a diamond too. There are plenty of talented RWs available for between 30-45m but we don't appear to be remotely interested in any of them, and I would be stunned if we do actually sign a RW now.
As I see it, the moment we renewed Mata on £140k per week, buried any idea of a new signing on the right.
Next season will be Lingard, Mata & James possibly Chong all trying their luck.
I don't disagree with you, but there seems to be a weird sort of "loyalty" thing going on at OT where we are loathe to get rid of anyone.I have no earthly idea why we didn't sell Lingard to some midtable prem team for 20M, let Mata go back to Spain with our appreciation.
If Maguire gets accepted, that's £150m we've spent this summer. Usually that's our yearly max so be very surprised if we bid for any significant attacking options.I'm starting to get worried now as I've seen no concrete links of any RW. Are we seriously about to enter another season with Lingard in that position again? I'm not sure if Ole is planning on playing James there but he's not the type of player to make a drastic difference quickly he needs time to develop. We need someone like Sancho or Pepe on the right, someone who can produce.
This, this and this. Stop gap for Sancho next season. A true winner in the ranks as well.Gotta be a stopgap signing available here, whether it's a loan from a big club with someone unhappy there or a one year Robben deal. Nobody currently has a real chance of playing RW and giving us 10+ goals and 10+assists from that position.
We're drawing dead, to use the poker term.
I expect to see a lot of Dan James on the right to be honest. Whilst most of his starts for Swansea were on the left he did play several games on the right and more significantly it was mentioned that Ole had specifically asked Giggs if James could play on the right and Giggs gave a glowing report.Sadly, it seems that we are going to continue with Lingard and Mata in that position. I understand that it would be difficult to sign Sancho, but there are other right wingers we could get. It seems that it's not a priority for us this summer.
Dalot?I surely do not want to see any of Lingard/Mata/Lukaku starting on the right wing.
Ji-Sung Park with better ball skills and vision but without the tackling. Just needs a couple of years for his body to fully mature.Really like the look of Lee Kang-in. Only saw bits and pieces of him last season at Valencia where he wasn't particularly impressive — but he was exceptional at the U-20 World Cup (where he won the Golden Ball), and bears an uncanny resemblance to Bernardo Silva from an aesthetic/functional/playmaking standpoint. Still quite raw and tends to dwell on the ball, not a pure winger (more of a fluid press-resistant attacker who can operate through the middle or the inside channels) and don't think he's ready to make an instant impact...but should definitely be on United's radar because of his overall potential, despite the steep €80 million release clause.
Considering how much Glazer's value shirt sales I'm surprised there's not been any more South Koreans signed since Park. I personally love the prospect of signing them. Their work ethic is second to none. Also first guy I've seen to mention Kangin, good shout.Really like the look of Lee Kang-in. That's great in theory but Ole was reluctant to really throw any of the youngsters into the deep end for a prolonged period last season and the chances of Lingard and Mata making more appearances out on the right as oppossed to Greenwood and Gomes are still pretty high you'd have to say.Guess the positive in not signing a proven attacker is that Greenwood and Gomes should be trusted and should develop a lot, and they're by far our most promising youngsters. One of them could surprise and have a Rashford type rise in becoming a starter by the end of the season as well (likely Greenwood from the right of a 3 as he suits the others). Its taking a gamble of course, but it's an exciting one at least and still more exciting then just thinking mata/lingard are enough
