James Horncastle just RT'd this...

What are Inter up to at the moment ? Did they even qualify for Europa League ? Kondogbia was highly rated, and propelled himself into oblivion by going there.

I would encourage all young talents to take a middle step rather than going to a top club straight away. Would be a good move for him. Now watch Barca sign him.

I agree, but is Inter really a step-up at the moment ? The likes of Schalke, Valencia, Monaco, West Ham, Everton, Napoli, Roma, Liverpool, Sevilla, Leverkusen, Dortmund, Lyon, Porto, Leicester would have all probably been interested, and better step-up platforms than Inter. Milan is like the Night's Watch of footballers right now.

His math is correct if we have only 21 players that have to registered then we only need 4 home grown

Its the same thing basically as what I said. And was comprehensively explained by another poster.

My bad. Didn't read the post correctly.

I asked my cousin, my go to guy for United stats, to send me the details and he sent me a word document with this:

  • *Not required to registered in the 25 man squad (Total in number – 8)
We currently have 32 players of which only 24 need to registered. Out of the 24, 9 qualify as home grown.

Sure there will be changes, but this is how it is now. Don't think there will be an issue on either front, or a need to sign Hughes just to jack up the homegrown quota. Pogba also qualifies as homegrown as he spent three seasons with us before he turned 21.

Do you think Gomes is good enough for Real or Barca?

I made it :

"Erectile problems? Premature ejaculation?"

No?

It's 3 seasons or 36 months. He'll qualify.

No he really doesn't. He left just over 3 months short.

7th October 2009 - 3rd July 2012.

2 years, 8 months and 27 days.

It's not "3 seasons" at all, the rules are clear that it is 3 years.

Corrected.

Why are we bothering with Pogba when its clear his heart is in Madrid and not Manchester? He will join reluctantly and 1 year down the line he will be pining for a move to Madrid

I imagine our "potential 16/17 squad" chat might be better in its own thread?

He is not a Madrid or Barcelona fan for that matter. If you believe all you read at some point he's have left then to rejoin united and be with friends/family. I think he would like to experience Spain and the problem might be - he might never experience Spain IF he rejoins United now. If Pogba was not at United as a kid, I don't think people would even mention it but it's like returning home. However, once he's back (should he come), he'll be more then happy amongst kids he grew up with and some French team mates.

Where is this coming from?

A number of press reports have indicated that his first option is Madrid and the only problem is that Madrid are a bit undecisive due to the high fees and wages involved. The Daily Mail also says his mother was apparently not happy with how United treated him last time he left. Then there is Juve who dont want to sell and Pogba himself has not indicated he wants to leave Juventus. The whole thing is a mess

Pogba himself said last year that he "still loves United" despite not getting a chance. I think that goes beyond what his mother says. His agent confirmed he's eager to play in a better league (La Liga and the Prem are both better than Serie A).

Juve not wanting to sell is a problem consistent with us and Madrid. I think if faced with a straight choice he'd edge Madrid because of Zidane, but that's not to say he wouldn't want to play for us. If he came here I'm sure we'd get the prime of his career out of him, and he'd be happy to play for the biggest club in England.

"It was a very, very difficult moment for me because I was in love with Manchester and I was a Mancunian".

^^ doesn't sound like he'd be against a second spell here at all. I'm sure he'd love to come and be one of the main men at Man Utd.

I think we are saying same thing just with you counting filled spots, and I'm counting vacant spots

I would be shocked and stunned if they spent best part of £100m on two strikers.

Agreed, I find it very hard to believe they'd spend between £80-100m on two strikers; when they still need defenders.

Worst of all if they finally do buy a decent striker or two that may be one of the final pieces of the puzzle. Ozil, Sanchez, Xhaka, Lacazette, Lukaku..clearly a change of transfer policy at the Emirates.

they'll end up signing a 19 year old no one's heard of.
But just as Arsenal fans reach their lowest point, he starts to remove his mask. Arsenal fans get excited. It was all a beautiful ruse. The ol' Russian doll trick. Instead of being a 19 year old no one's ever heard of he's actually.........a 18 year old no one's ever heard of. And then he starts to remove his mask. Arsenal fans get excited. Gomes a backup option for Pogba? That's good news for us

Lukaku is one striker I just can't make up my mind about. Half the time I am impressed by his pace and strength, and ability to get cracking shots on target. The other half I am almost tearing my hair out in frustration about his inability to attack the ball on crosses. Several matches in the Euro, excellent crosses were sent in, and he anticipated it too slowly and couldn't get on the end of them.

Lazy ness is that guys problem! I want a Tevez type back, always loved him chasing down defenders.

He is so inconsistent. IIRC he had 3 or 4 goal droughts longer than or equal to 5 games. Sometimes I feel, that in a side like arsenal, where he will get lots of chances he'll be a star, but then you see those Belgium peformances where he actually got similar amount of chances, and it makes you wonder is he even a significant upgrade on Giroud?

I actually think it's more a case of not having the football intelligence to spot the danger. Nistelrooy was the complete opposite - if the ball ended in the box, Nistelrooy was usually there

He would frustrate me more than Nani.

That's true, but if you lack scoring instincts then you make up for it by being a trier, thing is though if you're going to spend 60m on a striker you want a guy with instincts that tell him where to ball will be put in, besides the fact he trains with the other so should have an understanding where they're going to put that ball, just sometimes he seems too lazy to move, against Wales he failed to run to the near post and get in front of the defender as a winger put in a beautiful cross, that's unforgivable for a striker.
