August 31st this year.Anybody know when deadline day is this summer?
Usually August 31st, but sometimes it's September 1, 2, or 3
Bernardo Silva, Central midfielder and Central defender. So the season is officially over and we are back in the CL. Jose has already given Woody a list of targets. Looks like Griezmann is all but ours. So what else do we need?
ThanksAugust 31st this year.
Looks like Silva isn't a target from Jose's comments. Now that we have CL, we should go for Sanchez or BaleBernardo Silva, Central midfielder and Central defender.
Left back and striker also (Lukaku) but we obviously won't get all them unless perhaps DDG goes.Bernardo Silva, Central midfielder and Central defender.
Yes, a striker is a must. My choice would be Morata. I think he will be the best suited to play alongside Griezmann. I'm not sure about LB though. We don't have any top LB but we have so many who can play there like Darmian, Blind, Shaw, Young and even Rojo if needed. We also have CBJ and Demetri Mitchell ready to step up. So LB doesn't seem to be a top priority at the moment.Left back and striker also (Lukaku) but we obviously won't get all them unless perhaps DDG goes.
I think Jose playing down on this targets,he can't openly say he needs Silva which might encourage the selling club to up his market price, also did he say like good player's are always welcome.Looks like Silva isn't a target from Jose's comments. Sanchez is Bayern bound, he would be great addition but I doubt Arsenal would sell him to us."I think not. Honestly, I think not," he told Sport TV.
"But you never know. Good players are always welcome."
Atleast now we have a chance with any player! I'm expecting some blockbuster signings. A lot can happen this summer. Let's see if we have any thread that can match last season's Pogba threadI think Jose playing down on this targets,he can't openly say he needs Silva which might encourage the selling club to up his market price, also did he say like good player's are always welcome.

Bale on wings is ,but his injury concern worries me a bit.
Only Rooney will leave for sure. Fellaini won't leave since Jose clearly likes him. Darmian has stepped up big time in the last few months. Jones, Smalling and Young are 50/50 at the moment. It also depends on what other clubs are willing to bid for our players. We can get a decent fee for Darmian and Smalling but the rest won't be worth much. So, we could as well end up keeping them till the end of their contract. Pretty hard to decide with this lot.Something I'm struggling with is "who's going to leave?"
Our problem is that we have too many 6/10 players that can perform at 8/10 in the occasional game. Jones, Smalling, Fellaini, Darmian, Young, Rooney. You could have put Rojo in that list as well previously.
What did he say?Looks like Silva isn't a target from Jose's comments. Now that we have CL, we should go for Sanchez or Bale
Surely one of Smalling/Jones, Rooney and Young I'd say.Something I'm struggling with is "who's going to leave?"

What did he say?
And I must be the only one not wanting Bale.
This could mean anything but somehow I think he's not top priority. Usually, if its a player that we want to sign, Jose says he won't comment about other club's players. But this sounds like he is politely saying United are not in for him."I think not. Honestly, I think not," he told Sport TV.

So if those quotes are real regarding Silva, Mourinho declined to comment on Griezmann saying it's disrespectful to comment about players of other clubs but yet he commented on Silva? This could mean anything but somehow I think he's not top priority. Those 6/10 players are not the problem bar Rooney because if everyone is performing they are squad players and they do their job well. Its the supposed 10/10 players that worry me more - the ouyput we have had from Martial, Mkhitaryan and Mata in attack has been woefully short and Shaw doesn't seem like he will work out at all. We obviously need to be giving Martial and Mkhi another chance but can we really expect more from Mata. Don't get me wrong he is a good player but his style and physical attributes limit the type of games he can be relied upon in and that in turn affects his output. People are always talking about upgrades and the like but can't we upgrade on him by bringing someone in who is as productive but also a bit more explosive that teams would need to make special plans to stop him?Something I'm struggling with is "who's going to leave?"

Thanks. I gather he was asked directly about Silva then. This could mean anything but somehow I think he's not top priority. Usually, if its a player that we want to sign, Jose says he won't comment about other club's players. But this sounds like he is politely saying United are not in for him.
Yes, exactly! I'm not too bothered though. Silva is good but there are other equally good options out there. So if those quotes are real regarding Silva, Mourinho declined to comment on Griezmann saying it's disrespectful to comment about players of other clubs but yet he commented on Silva?
Griezmann would be our blockbuster signing. I am expecting more signing in mold to E.Bailly this season.Atleast now we have a chance with any player! I'm expecting some blockbuster signings. A lot can happen this summer. Let's see if we have any thread that can match last season's Pogba thread
I think we need to make Pereira the back up to Pogba and that settles the creativity issues when Pogba is out/having a bad day. What we need more besides signings is players like Mkhi and Martial playing to their true potential which could be directly related to the team's tactical set up or the coaching itself. If we have these guys playing like we know they can then Griezmann and a striker (Auba/Morata/Belotti) should be enough to turn our attacking fortunes around. Not really bothered about who we sign as long as it makes us start playing like a team again when we attack because let's face it, before Mourinho we were clueless defensively and offensively even if stats say otherwise during that last van Gaal season with De Gea making ridiculous saves game after game.
Mourinho has managed to fix our defensive side of the game and to some extent has greatly improved our midfield play but we are too much reliant on Pogba. We lack ideas going forward when Pogba is having a bad day and we can't keep relying on 1 player if we want to challenge for the title. Our other problem is finishing, Pogba alone would probably have had over 20 assists this season if our team scored half the sitters he set them up for.
Mourinho will most likely ship either Smalling or Jones out, sign a CB, LB, striker and a winger. Maybe another CM but it depends on what he's going for next season.
I just hope we don't fall the trap of signing shiny players with lots of sparkle and no substance.
Agree with the blockbuster signing. Don't think we will top it this summer.Griezmann would be our blockbuster signing. I am expecting more signing in mold to E.Bailly this season.
If we are going for Griezmann, there's rumours that he wants the move sorted himself before he goes away on his honeymoon in 3 weeks.I hope we get our deals done as early as possible, as Mourinho seems to do every summer where ever he is. Given Woody has had a couple months notice, moves should already be in place. I can see DDG leaving along with Zlatan and Rooney and some other fringe players. So Im expecting some very good singings.
Mkhi has always done well in his second season at a club if you look at his history. So hopefully he does it here too. Martial and Shaw are the ones I'm really worried about. This year can be forgotten for various reasons but they need to step it up next year, no excuses. Rashford is doing his best but he also has a lot of improving to do. If these 4 players can step it up in addition to our new signings(expecting 2 in attacking areas), we'll have a very successful season. I'm expecting us to line up something like this,Those 6/10 players are not the problem bar Rooney because if everyone is performing they are squad players and they do their job well. I wouldn't mind that of course. But it's not easy to find such gems especially in attacking positions. One player I can think of is Leandro Parades as a replacement for Carrick. He is a deep lying playmaker and a set-piece specialist too. In attack, maybe Andre Silva but he is also quite young.Griezmann would be our blockbuster signing. I am expecting more signing in mold to E.Bailly this season.
