If Tino can get to the level of those two (which he is more than capable off) it will at the very least be a battle based on form.

Furthermore, with the 3atb system it allows to fit more of these RB's in.
You’re underestimating the power of a mother’s word.

She could be a controlling bruiser.

Seems the decision was made a few months ago (I missed them) but the process is now complete for him to represent Ghana.

Ghana have qualified for the world cup haven't they?

Seems a logical choice rather than hoping 5 right backs get injured and he gets called up for england

Good player and better than a fair few england right backs in my time just unlucky to come through at a time we have so many

I wonder if Gaz would've got a look-in if he'd come around nowadays

Good decision for him - he is a fantastic talent, and great going forward, but lacks defensively and is a little bit lightweight.

Good for him.

Got a feeling Callum Hudson-Odoi will soon join him in the Ghana NT. Nketiah would also be eligible for them if he wants to.

nah. chelsea will block it for him as he’s just too important, only to force him to sit on the bench anyway.

Talented little player and great fun to watch. Struggles with injuries so it'd be nice to see him get past that. Ghana have a great footballing culture and the switch makes a lot of sense positionally speaking, it's a tough time to be an English right back.

For me, Livramento or Lamptey would be a good get for us at RB.

Best defender out of any of the modern day lot, and it shouldn't be overlooked that he could get forward and knock a good cross in too.
Hard to compare eras though.

Lamptey has great pace and attacking verve, but has an injury record Jonesy would be concerned about.
He was out with a major hamstring injury that was operated on in the 20/21 season, but since coming back, in September 2021 he's been unavailable for just 1 game in the last year.

The under rating of some of the older players boggles my mind.

Hudson Odoi was rumoured to be switching for a long time but more recently the reports have been that he's having second thoughts. Supposedly Nketiah is still deciding too. Ghana played Nigeria in a play-off for a place at this World Cup. If Nigeria would've won I think you would've seen a number of dual nationals switch to them. In this case Ghana won and have got Lamptey and Inaki Williams so far because of the victory and World Cup place.

For me, Livramento or Lamptey would be a good get for us at RB.
Lamptey isn't really a right back. He's quite a specialised player that only really excells in a back 5. He also has dodgy hamstrings. He's definitely become overrated. In reality he's never established himself as a starter for Brighton and hasn't started a game for them this season yet.

You can certainly reserve the right to think he’s become overrated. I stand by my opinion that he would be a good get for us RB/WB this assuming that he’s going to get over his injury issues of course.

So you'd want to sign a player that can't even get into the Brighton first team as our first choice right back in a 4 when he's only excelled in a 5 and even then only on ocassion?

Surely there is no more apt use of the term 'overrated' in football when applying it to a player that everyone seems to think is great but who doesn't start on merit for a mid-table club? The player who starts over him is Solly March.

I said Livramento or him are good gets because they’re young and I see upside in them - as in they will improve from where they are, and because I also think they would be reasonably priced. Both are at the right stage and age to compete with Dalot who appears to be in an upward trend.

All this talk about first choice right back etc is coming from you. Again, I didn’t say you’re wrong in labelling overrated. I said I stand by my opinion of him being a “good get”.

Fair enough. We will have to see how Liveramento comes back but he's the better rounded of the two.

Alternatively, he's had 3 separate hamstring injuries totaling 277 days, by age 21.
Give him time, at 21 Jonesy was in pretty mint shape.
