The Bruno Fernandes appreciation thread

Got home after a long day at work and just found out this news. Fecking delighted! We have to keep our best players, and Bruno is (by quite some distance) our best player. Over the moon that we're keeping hold of him and hope to feck that we continue adding quality players to the squad. This is excellent news.

Imagine now Bruno, Cunha and Mbuemo in the same starting 11. Bruno creating chances for players who could actually score.

I do hope he doesn't come to regret it this. You either die a hero or live long enough to be a villain.

See De Gea towards the end of his time here.

People were talking about the money concerns and buying Mbuemo but how much will him and Cunha relish the chances Bruno creates pretty much constantly!

Assuming that you're talking about an inevitable drop in quality which happens to everyone who don't retire early: is Rooney not a legend then? He stunk up the place for 3 years.

Of course Rooney is a legend. And Bruno will also be a legend regardless of how the next 2 years turn out. The exception being if he suddenly changes completely as a person and start causing drama.

He has a contract, he has the armband and he is our best player. Of course he shall stay.

The more apt comparison may be Rooney. Our energetic, reckless, wildly creative and productive talisman...my captain shall always play...in midfield.

I'm guessing that these signings (if they do go thru) means that Amad is seen more as a RWB now

“He’s saying no to a lot of things”, said Amorim of Bruno last week. What things, exactly? Answers on a postcard, please.

I adore him. The stick he gets from United fans at times and on here is a fecking joke. Buzzing he’s staying.

Yeah it’s annoying. I hate when he gets blamed for everything.

Wouldn’t mind a swap for J Maddison, we would have won the Europa League if we had him.

When did Fergie ever sell a player like Bruno? Perfect attitude, no drama, club captain, our best player, just had his best season and doesn't want to leave.

You can laugh all you want, kid, but if you think Bruno is "mobile", then I really don't know what to tell ya.

He sold plenty of legends of the club who had years left to play. Ince, Kanchelskis, Hughes in 95; Stam in 01; Beckham in 03; RVN 06. Let Eric retire in 97 aged just 31. And always said if someone comes in with silly money looking for a player, the club would have to consider it.

But you haven't answered the question I asked, where do you see Bruno playing if Cunha and Mbuemo are first team starters? Do you think Bruno playing in a midfield 2 with one of Casemiro/Ugarte/Mainoo is going to be beneficial to the team?

If it was ever in doubt, legendary status confirmed!

I know some wanted to rip it all up and start again, even I was tempted too, but this is so pleasing, and the continuity around what it means to be a United player (even in these past dark years) is important to have.

With the purchases we're making, it means the reliance on him will be much less, and even when he may have an erratic game, the quality around him from other senior pros should see us through.

Our only world class player, and people want him sold to get 100m!! We would absolutely waste twice or thrice the 100m trying to replace his quality. Yes he will turn 31 in sep, but he is a midfielder with a good injury record and would probably play at the top level until he is 35 or 36.

Surely the people who are saying "he's a superman player, half the troubles we have come from him" surely dont watch us weekly, right? That is letter these players off the hook massively. The shit show was not down to him. We play our best football when he's on song. And contrary to popular belief, we'd have a few 2nd and 3rd place finishes and a lot of cup finals since he showed up. And about 4 different managers, formations and "philosophies." Create a settled formations, with a settled starting 11 for more than a few matches, and we will be in the hunt. And he'll be at the forefront of any type of revival.

A lot of fans reacting emotionally, but not a lot of fans outlining where they see Bruno fitting into the team next season in Amorim’s system.

A midfield two of Bruno and Casemiro, is that what we're going with next season?

I really don't know what level of performances we are going to see from him in the 6 position next season but what a man, he desperately wants to win big with us. You have to respect him and the way he has conducted himself since signing.

Bruno being around when we next lift the title - even in Robbo spec from 1993 or 1994 as more a squad player - would be an amazing thing to see. Some twat on Talksport saying Bruno wouldnt get on for a Fergie team. Sick of the hate this lad gets. The latest Talk of the Devils was full of stories about how important Bruno is for us. Not just as a player but as the heartbeat of the team.

I don't see Amorim's system ever being a success in the Premier League unless you have world class wing backs and peak Kante in there. At least when Amorim's gone in a few months time, Bruno will still be here and he'll no doubt be the next manager's favourite player, just like every United manager over the past 5 years.

I wanted him gone, I'm also not his biggest fan

but fair do's after hearing his quotes today, he has the love, the mentality, the spirit and he wants to give it all for us. He isn't a money grabber, we need leaders like him at the club, I guess his whiny hand flipping side to his game I can let go for the leadership and mentality he brings both on the pitch and off it

Im glad he’s staying . He will be class for a few years still and if we want to sell him . The opportunity will come again in a couple of years. For now let’s show him love and hope we can win titles with him.

And as long as he plays in midfield, we'll continue to get manhandled by 90% of the PL teams. Winning will be a mirage.

Let Eric retire???
Eric does what Eric wants. His mind was made up.
Ince started calling him the guvnor. Gone.
Gutted Kanchelskis left but made room for the kids.
Sparky had his best years behind him and was replaced by Andy Cole.
Stam and Beckham both undermined SAF’s authority. See also Ince. Gone.
RvN threw his toys out of the pram which he himself admits now. Gone.

Bruno? Not a word against a manager or the club. Available 99.9% of the time. Never hides in a game no matter how terrible the team is playing.

Role model. I’m glad he is staying.

Can we now win a title for him please? Deserves all the flowers.

If I understand the media reports correctly, Bruno turned down 700k/week -- tax free -- to remain at Old Trafford.

Legend.

In an era where most of our players don't understand the value of the jersey they wear, i find it very hard to criticize Bruno. Im glad he's staying. Think he's a very good player too of course.

Massive respect for turning down that offer.

I’m hoping he can transition into the deeper midfield role, assuming he/the club wants to do that. We’d definitely miss his leadership if he had left.

Noone said this when Jorginho was playing there. Or when Vitinha plays there for PSG. It's all about the balance in the side.

No way! Had talked myself into seeing the silver lining of him leaving. But let's be honest this might be some of the best transfer new of the window.

I honestly think having him as false 9 works of we bring in Mbuemo... He can't get in behind but that's what the two 10s can do down the channels. Little ball up to his feet turn and pass the ball through.

It works for arsenal with Havertz and we've seen it work for us here at times I don't know why we don't give it a go. He's such a goal threat as well, as the wing backs and tens cut the ball back he can get on the edge and bang a shot in

Support the manager or find a system you like … negative stuff is too boring to read
