Yeah, that interview is a low point in his career.
What's worse is he aleinated the club as problematic then goes into a world cup and is benched by his manager for the national team. Interview made Ronaldo lose a significant amount of credibility.

Potentially also hurt his new club, what's to stop him doing the same if the environment isn't right for him. Poor judgements and decisions from himself and his management team.

I mean it's not like Messi hasn't always been ahead but it does feel like the past few weeks have been karma for Ronaldo after that interview.

it's actually crazy how everything turned out after that interview. he literally became a meme, got benched in his NT and Messi just delivered the final blow. just

This has to be the worst year of his career:
Madrid won the cl without him beating the strongest teams.
Benzema won a Ballon D'oR after Modric, showing that Madrid had the best players when he was there.
Messi won the WC
He was benched for both his national team and club team
No top club wants him

Cant wait until his sister talks about the world disgracing the best footballer on the planet, Ronaldo by letting Messi win a WC.

Would his girlfriend have celebrated the win being as she’s Argentine? I’d imagine a very awkward household.

Loses his legend status at United and United play better without him and sack him.

Is he alright now? I hope that he doesn't have a complete meltdown now that Messi has won the WC?

Madrid win the league and cup double and another of his teammates wins the Ballón d'or, as you pointed out.

Messi winning the world cup, with 7 goal contributions in the KO stages alone at the age of 35 (compared to Ronaldo's 0), cementing his legacy as the best of his generation.

Ronaldo being benched by club and country. 0 non penalty goals in this world cup.

Threw himself at every big team in existence only to get repeatedly rejected.

I find it really weird how Penis Morgan has positioned himself as his no 1 cheerleader just because he did an interview with him. I can't think of other 'journalists' who would double down on sycophancy like this over one interview.

Love his over inflated ego getting a reality check. Maybe he shouldn't always look to protect his own image. Somehow he's managed to turn the one club fan base that has blindly clinged on to him, against him. Genius move, that.

When you realise this whole thing is other people seeing success. Worst part is from what we saw from his last couple months it's not even farfetched they all made him miserable.

Short of something that would get him banned from social media platforms, I don't think there's anything he wouldn't do or say in order to generate attention/clicks.

Whether he does it mainly for money or for the attention itself, I don't know, but the man seems hollow at the core - completely devoid of either shame or principles.

It's that - or he actually is pathologically stupid, i.e. he genuinely believes the shite he spouts and doesn't realize that he constantly contradicts previous opinions, etc.

His exits have been terrible. He left at least 2 CL on the table by moving to Madrid too early and his move to angle was a disaster for everybody involved.
I’ll always wonder what Ronaldo would say about his move to Madrid if he were being honest. For a man chasing records, Balon Dors etc, his move to a rebuilding Madrid has to be a regret. Especially to this Ronaldo.

It's better for him not to get into WC squad at all or retire/go to smaller league after last season at United.
At least there will always be an argument of "If Ronaldo was with Portugal he could have won the WC, not Messi" because he was still scoring goals in PL and for sure he will score loads in shit league. Now there's no room for him to be anywhere close to Messi, not even an argument.
That's what ego does to you, sometimes you need to know when to quit gracefully. The signs were there, he was simply not very good anymore. He should have stopped.

Uh? Which 2 CL?

By his second season Real Madrid were the second best team in the world. By his third we were arguably the best team in the world, and then we went on to win 4 CL in 5 years

We got to the final 2 years after he left but it’s the Bayern loss that got away, the Inter win. That year was wide open for us but the Rooney injury put us out. Ronaldo in that side for 2/3 year has us challenging Barca never mind being the second best team in the world, which we were when he left us anyway. He also wanted to leave in 08 when we were clearly the best team in the world so it could have been even worse for him so it’s not as if he saw huge potential there, Madrid were a mess and he still wanted to go.
He left us in 09, didn’t win a CL until 14. There has to be a massive what if in his head
The amount of league titles he left behind adds up as well.
Moving to Madrid which was a work a progress to join a league that Messi and Barca ruled was a huuuge misstep. The going to Juve when he could have his choice between City, Bayern, PSG etc was even worse.
For a man chasing records it could have been so much better for him. He should have seen himself as the final piece of every jigsaw and only moved when that team gave him the best chance at history that next season.

I don´t think moving to Madrid was a big what if. Its his most succesfull spell and Id say Madrid quickly became the 2nd best team in the world when he got there, not just because of him, but also Benzema, Kaka, Alonso etc in 1 window. After that they just kept buying world class players. Going to Juve in hindsight seems like a bigger mistake.

Should learn his next club soon right?

What are people feeling? I still don't rule out a 6 month Real Madrid return before leaving Europe

Hindsight though.

Moving to Real when they were bringing in prime Mou, prime Kaka and an up and coming benzema was at most a sideway move.

Going to Juve when they were on a 7 SerieA winning streak and was just in the final of the UCL was also a smart move, especially when he thought he will be the one to bring them to the next level.

Ditto for United, finished 2nd and brought in Varane and Sancho, perfect legacy if he can push you guys to a title beating City and Liverpool.

But Ronaldo wanted to leave in 08 before Jose, Kaka etc came in. He loved Madrid but he did rush it a little. The one thing that confirms it is agreeing to return in 2013 before SAF suddenly retired. That’s the greatest what if in our history, apparently SAF had Bale lined up for us that summer as well

I cantbsee that happening.
They have the the recent ballon d'or winner as their main forward. Introducing Ronaldo into the mix would be a disaster.

Ronaldo isn't as loved in Madrid as he was at United. Can you imagine the abuse he would recieve should he return. Especially on current form.

I'm so happy for Ronaldo. Finally, he can relax and accept the fact that Messi is the best player in his generation and there is no comparison between the two really.

This is really karma for his super inflated ego and selfishness.

There is no comparison in term of being a footballer as well as being a human being. Messi won hands down for both.

Ronaldo can now retire happily with his new buddy, Piers.

He's a couple of years older than Messi and should have dropped out of a top flight league 1-2 years ago

Messi is cruising in France and will possibly be in the USA next year, at that age Ronaldo was in Serie A and the Premier League.

No shame in playing in the US or wherever at 38 years old

Messi will continue to play in the Argentine national team, while that happens he will play in Europe.

Possibly but his contract is up in the summer and he's been heavily linked with a move to Miami

It's Messi he's in that Argentina squad no matter what club he's at

It was a genius move that didn't pay off. But the logic was obvious.. If he managed to push Juventus to a CL title they just come up up short and have won only twice in their history it would absolutely propel his status and seriously put him in GOAT conversation. 7 CL's with 3 different clubs giving one of them to Juventus after all these years.

In the end, not good enough Juve team along with the start of his decline and all the moves that followed untill this day backfired. Has only himself to blame, if he didn't behaved like a wanker, I would have some sympathy.
