Quarter Finals:
1. Panathinaikos - FC Barcelona
2. Bayern - Real Madrid
3. Deportivo La Coruna - ManUtd
4. Liverpool FC - Bayer Leverkusen

Semi Finals
Winners 1 - Winners 2
Winners 3 - Winners 4

A potential Manchester United - Liverpool FC semi final with return leg at Anfield... What a cracker that could be!

I think LFC couldnt have hoped for a better draw, except maybe getting the return leg at Anfield...

United are more lucky in that respect, but face more stern opposition in Deportivo La Coruna...

Bayern - Real will ba a real cracker and I think a repeat of last years QF which Bayern won, whilst Barcelona - Panathinaikos looks like a very one-sided contest...

Ireland. United , PL Champions 2002.
Second hardest draw after Bayern / Real.

Although I still think that wew were a better team than Deportiva, even if our results this season against them were not favourable.

Happy enough with the draw. We have to play one of the top teams in either QF or SF so it might as well be now. Hope to God Liverpool get through so we can get sweet revenge on them. :)

If we have to beat all those teams to win it then no one could argue that we are the best team in Europe. But we'll really need to be to do that!

The UEFA spokesman said before the draw," I hope all teams play attacking football played in the spirit of the game, because not all teams have done that as yet"...........i wonder who he meant?????? ;)

Or alternatively:
Quarters United v Depor
Semi United v Bayer
Final United v Bayern

Not so good, two trips to germany!

don't see that tie going any other way to be honest.

if ARSE can knock five past bayer in a exhibition of brilliant free flowing football....... then the poo' should be able to scrap a 1-0 home win.

;)

this is the worst possible draw for us. depor will be very hard. can't expect to win away from home. gonna be one hell of a fecking hard home tie.

the other thing that makes it bad is liverpool's piss-easy draw.

if you think about it, we've been as stuffed by depor playing a weakened team as arsenal and depor themselves were. depor must be gutted to think they could have avoided us!

the only up-side to this draw is real-bayern, which knocks one of the toughies out. hopefully, bayern will win that one, cause if we get to the final, i fancy any team in that half, except for real.

lucky barca. they don't deserve to be there, given how badly they've played in the CL this season, and yet now they've got a bye to the quarters.

liverpool-united semi is also a disaster, with second leg at anfield.

shit, shit, shit

had a sneaking suspicion we'd get Depor again. At least we know what to expect but it'll be VERY difficult. They are a quality side, but they don't travel too well - the wins over us and Arsenal are the exceptions.

If we can go there and get a draw (very doable) I think we can definitely beat them at Old Trafford.
And then on to the dippers in the semis. Holy sh*t that would be something!!

exciting times ahead people, this is what it's all about :D

CALM DOWN, CALM DOWN .....

FFS mate DEPOR are good, very good but jesus nobody is invincible.
we have played them twice and they were both very close games. Stupid mistakes on our behalf pushed in their favour, so we , have, can and will match them it really is just who makes mistakes and who takes their chances.
yes they are in a good patch of form ..... but so are we.

CAN't WAIT ....... whens the 1st leg !!!!!!!!!!!

Depor's style doesn't really suit us, a bit like liverpool, they are very strong defensively and great at counter attacking at speed. But the 4-5-1 formation seemed to help against them and would definitely be played for the away leg, which would make the home leg a straight fight for goals.

we need to go there and score a goal though because it will be incredibly difficult to shut them out at Old Trafford....

I agree...

Stick with 4-5-1 away... The bastards can't get lucky twice...

I'm confident we can beat them at OT...

Deportivo is the team on form in Europe at the moment. They have always risen to the big occasions, and stuffed the opposition in the process. They also have a great advantage, they don't have the name of the Barças, Reals Bayerns etc.... After United they are my faves to win the tourny.

In fact, from the official site:
The draw for the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League has pitted United with Deportivo!

The Reds will play away on April 2 or 3, before returning to Old Trafford on April 9 or 10.

The TV companies will probably decide this, if only they could show all the games live on different days, well, at least the United and Bayern/Madrid games cos the other's will be boring. ;)

yep...... but i'm still confindent that we CAN turn them over. i think they really set themselves out to be true contenders when they doubled us and with wins over REAL in the spanish cup final, on REAL's 100th birthday, in REAL's stadium..... they will fear nobody.

Is keane back for the away leg?

this is a big problem. if he's out, it get's worse (obviously). however, its not exactly great that fergie might feel he has to rest him in the next ten days before the match, missing the boro home match (not so bad), and the leeds away match, which could be a disaster.

It doesnt matter who we got....we just have to win 3 more games & we are Champions again....we need to play & beat Deportivo IMO to exorcise the gremlins...maybe we need to do that with the Poo as well but parhaps not in the CL.. ;)

I have also been laughing at my real madrid supporting friends faces for their centenary copa del rey defeat! Many of them went to the game with the expectation of going to Cibeles to celebrate, but it was not to be!! The problem is that I will never hear the end of it if we lose to them! Ive gloated so much that it could all blow up in my face, but if we beat them, well that would just be top, not only because we would have the chance to stuff the pool in the semis, and possibly win the tourny but Id be able to rub it in more!!!!

I'd be amazed if he didn't make it for the CL away game, and I expect him to play vs. Leeds. According to TeamTalk Ruud will play v Boro, and Veron is clear to (but most likely won't). We should be back to full strength - I just hope Ole makes it back soon.

We are now at the stage where SAF 4-5-1 formation will really benfit us in the CL. In the first game at Deportivo they struggled to create anything against United until the last 5 minutes. If United can get a good result away then it will be all to play for at OT.

totally agree, but I think we can kick them out over two legs, we know what we can expect from depor....and we sure have to make up for the last two games...I think we should have beaten them at OT, there were enough chances, even though fab and wes had a black out.

if we win this one, we can go all the way! at the end of last season and at the start of this one everyone was asking for a challange, here you have it! now show us that you can rise to the occasion!

I think it would be great to have liverpool in the semis, but don't underestimate leverkusen....
