@The Stain in this case(no games) is my write up ok as it is? I don't think I can add anything else in terms of brief descriptions. If there are more detailed questions about my side I guess they will be asked in the thread?

IMO if we had to rank teams and get to the QF stage we should've done so in the trimming stage - rank the best 8 teams and scrap the 1/8 finals altogether.

Essentially now we will rank teamsheets two times in a row without even playing with your team or getting into possible formations in an actual game against opposition. That and of course having 8 more teams that would probably want to play a game eliminated.

The draft has been really great(one of the best I've participated in) and people really put an effort to draft their teams and going out to ranking without even getting a single reason why they are eliminated (like mazhar for example) feels really underwhelming.
That's the point of trying things instead of theorising. With Monday's paper I reckon we should have had 4 groups of 5 with the two most voted going through. Simple.

The good thing with that is if, say, we ended with 19 teams you would have one group with 4 teams instead of 5. No big deal. Very flexible.

Joga already answered about Suarez, and van Hanegem was usually playing closer to the left
Be it in a restricted role for Netherlands

Or in a free Cruyff-ish role for Feyenoord
But both of those videos show him drifting out to the right as well and looking equally as comfortable there.

Whilst Luisito was quite comfortable going forward on the right, he looked more at home on the left half of the pitch in a deeper central midfield role. van Hanegem was comfortable on both halves of the pitch in comparison.

My situation wouldn't have changed if Luisito was the right central midfielder and van Hanegem the left, anyways, nor would my setup have altered in any way.

A good video highlighting his versatility and ease on both flanks from the same game - iirc (can't watch the vid now), he plays as a LAM and a RAM in a midfield trio in each half and on whichever flank he tended towards, the winger's performance improved exponentially - such was his link-up play and strength on the flanks.
Yeah, I watched that match in full, and I remember him spending more time on the left than the right with Luis del Sol spending more time on the right. Still, del Sol played a more disciplined role to free up Suárez as Gento and Peiro were having a poor game overall. It still surprises me that Spain didn't go on the right side more often as Ufarte was more of a threat than Gento (regardless of whether Suárez was drifting out there or not).

Ultimately, I didn't set it up so that both would be fixated in their areas. Do you think central midfielders would generally stay fixated in their areas for the whole match? That's only their starting position, but they can drift around wherever they feel is best depending on the situation. Both van Hanegem and Suárez did that, and I made sure that both weren't restricted in their positioning.

Honestly, if I had van Hanegem on the left and Suárez on the right, I'd still be asked why Suárez isn't on the left with references to his Inter performances, so it doesn't matter in the end.

Pretty sure that you wouldn't have, but you're right that it's a minor point

Best remembered for his successful ten-year stint with AC Milan from 2000 to 2010, where he established himself as one of the world's best goalkeepers due to his shot-stopping ability and command of the area. He was inducted into Milan's Hall of Fame in 2014.

Profile

El Gran Capitán Passarella is considered by most to be the best central defender of South America with Chilean icon Elías Figueroa, and the best defender from Argentina - leading the team to their first World Cup title in 1978, where he was imperious, and was duly named the best defender of the tournament. Renowned for his defensive nous, leadership ability, passion, and organisational prowess on the field - he's usually regarded as one of the most commanding defenders in football. Although he was only 174cm tall, Passarella was exceptional in the air and scored an impressive amount of goals by headers from corners or free-kicks. In this match, Passarella will cut out some of this more offensive oriented traits while face Ronaldo, so we have no use for his 1 in 3 record, really. Instead, he will focus on defense, and we couldn't have asked for a more uncompromising and determined player to help repel the Brazilian's threat.

Emlyn Hughes

Individual Accomplishments:

FWA Footballer of the Year: 1977

He was the first Liverpool captain to lift the European Cup and did it again a year later! Also played a big part in arguably the finest defence in Liverpool’s history, when they conceded just 16 goals in 1978/79 season. As a player he was all-action, getting stuck in, as well as bringing the ball out into the midfield and making himself available all over the pitch. He had a shot like a cannon and scored some incredible long range goals. He was voted Footballer of the Year in 1977 when he led Liverpool to the league title, European Cup and a defeat in the FA Cup final where they were denied the first ever treble.

Edgar Davids is one of the most best defensive midfielders of the world in the late 90s, was the great powerful dynamo midfielder who was noted for his tireless running, uncompromising and excellent agility. Davids liked to support attacking game with his great technical ability and acceleration. He had glaucoma which requires him to wear protective goggles on the pitch, combined that with his dreadlocks hair and you get one of the most recognizable footballer of his generation.

UEFA European Championship Silver Medal: 2012

Profile

A combative and experienced player, Motta is usually deployed as either a defensive or cemtral midfielder, but he is capable of playing in various other midfield positions due to his tactical intelligence and versatility. In the Italian national team, under Prandelli, he was on occasion deployed as a deep-lying playmakler or an attacking midfielder, due to his ability to set the tempo of his team's play in midfield with his passing. At Euro 2012 he played in a new role of false attacking midfielder, in Prandelli's 4–3–1–2 formation.
Motta's most prominent traits are his ball control, vision, passing range and ability to read the game. Typical modern day defensive midfielder that uses his brain to win back possession rather then legs but is also more of a playmaker on the ball rather then old school defensive mids that were passengers in that segment of the game.

Duncan Edwards

Individual Accomplishments:

Football League 100 Legends
English Football Hall of Fame
PFA Team of the Century: 1907 - 1976
Balon d'Or Bronze: 1957

Team Accomplishments:

English First Division: 1956, 1957

Profile

Primarily remembered as a defensive midfielder, Edwards was able to operate in any outfield position on the pitch. His versatility was such that on one occasion he started the match playing as an emergency striker in place of one injured player before being switched to central defence in place of another.
His greatest assets were his physical strength and his level of authority on the pitch, which was said to be remarkable for such a young player, and he was particularly noted for his high level of stamina. Sir Stanley Matthews described him as being "like a rock in a raging sea" while Bobby More likened him to the Rock of Gibraltar when defending, but also noted that he was "dynamic coming forward". His imposing physique earned him the nicknames "Big Dunc" and "The Tank", and he has been ranked amongst the toughest players of all time. Edwards was noted for the power and timing of his tackles and for his ability to pass and shoot equally well with both feet. He was known for his surging runs up the pitch and was equally skilled at heading the ball and at striking fierce long-range shots. After scoring a goal on 26 May 1956, in a 3–1 friendly win against West Germany he was given the nickname "Boom Boom" by the local press.

Team Skizzo/Annah
Formation: WM / 3-2-2-3

Our team is built around the partnership of Sivori and Liedholm who are two of the great classics for the roles in the formation. While we more commonly see well balanced sides and primarily focus on the all roundness of the team here we have gone for trying to build a side whos overlaps would be create the strength of the team. Like Iniesta, Xavi and Busquets it was their overlapping abilities that made them so dominant. We've chosen Guardiola and Cerezo for their excellent passing while they were both alright defensively for being playmakers.

With Sivori and Liedholm being incredible at keeping possession we want them to have the chance to play a slow build up which requires great passers who are suited for nifty one touch plays as well. From there they will do what they do best as you can see below which is beat a central midfielder/defender and just charge towards goal with space opening up behind the defender who has to push forward to challenge them.

Gunnar Nordahl
The Capo di tutti Capocannonieri with his jaw dropping five time record as the top goalscorer in Serie A. That is as much as van Basten, Shevchenko and Inzaghi all put together and he achieved it all in 6 monstrous years.

Yet he still doesn't feature much in these drafts and I believe a reason why is that he was the personification of a 3-2-2-3 striker. With so much dribbling and creativity around him the striker in these formations often had to play against a packed defense inside the box.

They were on the pitch to score and that's exactly what he did. Purely in terms of his ability inside the box he is one of the very finest strikers of all time.

He'd dominate in the air and bully his defenders with his physique like Vieri. But at the same time had that ferocious Inzaghi/RVN instinct of always knowing how the ball would bounce and how to find space where there was none. Coupled with the ability to turn any half chances to goals with his accurate finishing he made a mark in history.

I am not sure anybody scored as many "ugly" goals as him, so without further ado! Gunnar Nordahl with ugly goals.

Wingers
With two GOAT dribblers and Mr. Capocannonieri upfront Kopa will be able to play his odd role from the right wing where he won three straight European Cups and was included in the top 3 in the Ballon each year.

With both Sivori and Liedholm being ideal fits for a composed side with great build up play. Kopa and Finney provide a great counter attack with their drive for the fine long ranged passing of Guardiola and Liedholm.

While their movement and raw skill will suit the team in both the slower/longer plays as well as the counter attacks.

Defense
Maldini as a left centre back is sort of self explanatory and Alan Hansen as our composed and intelligent leader of the back line as well.

Ronnie Hellström was a great goalkeeper being considered one of the world's top goalkeepers in the 1970s, and Swedens greatest ever.

Vierchowod
The 84-85 stopper version of him is an interesting but great choice for a RCB position after the World Cup performances where Kicker rated him the third best full back of the tournament.

Ceulemans would attest to that as well "Ceulemans played as quasi left-winger and Vierchowod followed him everywhere. Ceulemans tested what he would do if he took a central midfield position but Vierchowod was tied to him. "It was one of my worst matches", said Ceulemans.

Nicknamed lo Zar, Vierchowod was a tenacious and physical centre-back, who possessed great pace; he was considered one of the toughest Serie A defenders of the 1980s and the 1990s, due to his immense strength, tight marking of opponents, and hard tackling style of play. His speed, anticipation, and ability to read the game enabled him to break down opposing plays, win back possession, and intercept loose balls; these attributes also allowed him to excel in the zonal marking defensive system during his later career. Despite his aggressive playing style, he was also regarded as a fair player both on and off the pitch.

In an interview with Argentine magazine El Gráfico, Argentine footballer Diego Maradona, widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time, dubbed Vierchowod his toughest opponent, stating that "[Vierchowod] was an animal, he had muscles to the eyelashes. It was easy to pass by him, but then when I raised my head, he was in front of me again. I would have to pass him two or three more times and then I would pass the ball because I couldn't stand him anymore". Throughout his career, Maradona gave Vierchowod the nickname Hulk.
Gary Lineker also revealed in an interview with FourFourTwo that Vierchowod was "the hardest defender he ever faced" adding "he was absolutely brutal and lightning quick. He gave me one or two digs."

Another important yet rarely brought up aspect of his game was his excellent ability to break through with a surge forward with the ball at his feet, Breitner like, and offer a threat going forward.

Tactics:

Was lucky enough to pick top 5 player of all time so would be very foolish of me not to have him as the central figure of my team - Diego Armando Maradona. The whole team is built around him, he is surrounded with complementary support cast which should give him the perfect foundations to shine on the stage. Movement, technical ability, selflessness, workrate, football brain are the ingredients i was looking for. All the while, the defense is extremely strong marshalled by another great in Daniele Passarella which provided the team a quality base to build on.

Without the ball

The plan is to stay compact and pressure when opponent steps over a certain line on the pitch. Throughout the whole team there is abundance of hard work and unselfishness starting with two workhorses up front in Tevez and Stoichkov, supported by bundle of energy that is Edgar Davids who is partnered with player that could do everything and play anywhere - Duncan "The Tank" Edwards. Should be more then enough considering the quality of the back 5. Fantastic goalkeeper, defence built around Passarella with two fantastic defenders and leaders in Puyol and Hughes. In the wingback areas we have the pretty boy on the left and David Beckham on the right. Naturally a right midfielder but is suited perfectly for the wingback role. Great footballing brain which is why he was very adaptable on the pitch, transformed himself into a very good central/defensive midfielder in latter stages of his career, i have zero doubts that he wouldnt be able to do the same for the wingback position specially as he always worked harder then anyone on the pitch and his running capacity was extremely big. People around him should also be a big help, Tevez up front, Edwards next to him ready to provide cover when needed and Puyol behind him that knows both centerback and fullback roles inside out.

With the ball

Maradona. He is the main force of this team, has complete freedom to do anything he wants and i think i provided him a very good platform to do so. Two unselfish strikers with great movement and hold up play, both will stretch the pitch both vertically and horizontally. Behind has security in Edwards and Davids but also two players that wont mind sacrificing their own game for his benefit but on the other side if needed both are very capable of supporting him or even running the game. With the ability behind his back Diego wont need to come deep for the ball, even the 2 that are worse on the ball in the team are fecking good at it. Emlyn Hughes was pretty famous for his transitional play from the back, also played as a leftback and defensive midfielder which is a testament for his ability on the ball. Puyol was a part of the most dominant possession based team in history of the game, both on club and international level so no need to dwell over that one and then we have some absolute gems on the ball in Cabrini, Beckham and Passarella.

Opponent:

Obviously a brilliant team from downcast but as always there are certain areas where you can go into nitpicking.
  • Moore and Scirea, two GOAT defenders but are they the best suited playing with each other? Im a strong believer in a stopper/sweeper combo and considering both Moore and Scirea played their best football paired with an aggressive stopper(Jack Charlton and Claudio Gentile) its an area where his team are open to some questions.
  • Dani Alves is "pointless" behind Garrincha. Garrincha is well known for his selfishness and he prefers to play directly against his opponent and not use the help of a bombarding fullback, thats why Djalma was such a great partner for him. Garrincha dominate offensive base while Djalma dominated in the other end.
  • Carles Puyol and Emlyn Hughes are perfectly suited to handle Samuel Eto'o, two aggressive stoppers with fantastic athletic capabilities.
  • Maradona has a proven record against the great Milan side where Rijkaard played a major role, Diego provided some of his legendary performances against that legendary defence so there is no reason why he cant do it here as well as he has the perfect foundations to do so.
  • Platini. Obviously downcast also has a horse in this race...with Passarella as libero behind two monsters in midfield in terms of workrate and the quality of their defensive game there shouldnt be much space for Platini to operate so knowing him he would drop much deeper then downcast should want him to. Would that stop Platini entirely? Of course not but it should help and give the advantage to Diego to do more damage then his number 10 rival.

Well built side Bepo. Complements Maradona perfectly style wise, I am happy I didn't change him to a sheep.

My team is based on the current United side with each player drafted to take the role of a current member of the squad and play in the same style but with added quality. All roles have been mirrored so as to get the best fits. For instance the lb role in my team is the same as the current United teams rb.

Starting from the GK we have arguably the greatest of them all. Yashin is credited with being the first goalkeeper to work on distribution which is so key nowadays and we all know our own DDG has excellent distribution along with being a top keeper himself.

DEFENCE

RB - Lahm takes on Blinds role.

Excellent passing from the flank, calm and dependable. He will get forward on the right but nowhere near as much as his opposite flank.

CBs - Ferdinand and Ramos take on Bailly and Jones roles.

As with the current United teams both of my cbs are extremely fleet footed. My cbs add a degree of passing out from the back that we don't currently have in the side and would greatly aid in the build up play. Ramos will take Bailly' spot, being the more aggressive of the duo and hounding opponents. Ferdinand will take Jones' spot, reading the game and better distribution.

LB - Roberto Carlos takes on Valencias role.

Bombing up and down the flank Carlos will provide the width on the left flank much like we see Antonio doing for us now. Instead of refusing to best his man though Carlos will thrive on the opportunity and be a constant threat.

MIDFIELD

DM - Redondo will take on Carricks role.

The master of the ball. His performance against United will live long in the memory and he is perfectly suited to the Carrick role. He will be my sides main dictator and will run the game from his deeper position.

CM - Masopust will take on Herreras role.

As mentioned previously I didn't know much about Masopust before this draft but everything I've read and watched of him makes me think he will perform Herreras role perfectly. Tactically disciplined he is cited as often sacrificing his attacking instincts for his national side who played a more defensive game than he would have liked but he performed to the managers wishes perfectly. He had excellent close control and short passing game and his strongest defensive attribute was his interceptions.

CM - Yaya Toure will take on Pogbas role.

I don't think I need to explain too much about how these 2 match up. Peak Toure at city was a nightmare for United fans. Constantly out muscling our midfield and popping up with crucial goals. He'll have the freedom to get forward and join attacks knowing his 2 partners are more defensively minded and I can't think of a better fit for the role.

ATTACK

RW - Robben takes on Martials role.

Dribbling, speed, cutting inside and goals. At his peak Robben was unplayable. His dazzling speed and tendency to cut inside makes him a perfect fit for this role. Linking up with Toure, Iniesta and Suarez he would be presented with countless opportunities to get in behind and score his trademark left foot finish.

LW - Iniesta takes on Matas role.

Playing in his earlier LW role Iniesta has license to roam looking for the pockets of space to influence the game, knowing Carlos will provide the needed width. He will be the main creative force and I expect him to run the game when in the attacking third. Perfectly suited to playing Matas role he will have the same big game moments but with much more regularity.

CF - Suarez takes on Ibras role.

This was one of the hardest positions on the pitch to fill as not many players can provide you with everything that Ibra can. However, in Suarez I've got a player that scores the same outrageous goals and in his tenacity can make up for the lack of height in being my teams target man and focal point. His link up play is top notch and his drive matches up to the big man.

All in all I set out to replicate the current United teams and have loved making this version which like the current United team would play some lovely football but now has that added cutting edge which has stopped our side pushing on to something much better.

Very funny theme Pnut. Love how Masopust has to play a defensive role because of it. I think Suarez vs Ibra is well off in terms of the style of the players and Iniesta for Mata may not be the best in terms of quality but at least they'd play a very similar game. Love how you dedicated so much to it.

Fairly obvious tactics here, attacking but defensively sound fullbacks, rock solid defenders with excellent distribution, a top 10 of all time goalkeeper and sitting in front of them all the best midfield 2 I've had for any draft. Edwards is perfect for the box to box to role, and Makelele is maybe the only player in the whole draft to have a role named after him.

The front 4 don't require much imagination, especially with schiaffino as the architect. Jardel may not be the best number 9 in the draft but he will shine in this set up, the pace and trickery on the wings is enough to frighten any defensive unit in this draft and he will get chances against any side, be it in the air or on the ground where he can utilize his phenomenal positioning abilities.

Yeah I really wanted to go the Mhki way but I needed kaka for me to really believe in it. How is Iniesta for Mata not great quality wise though? And Suarez for Ibra really pissed me off. He's so hard to find a replica of its untrue. Also it's uncanny how much Herrera and Masopust are alike!

Just meant that I like how you dedicated yourself to not just find any playmaking winger to replace Mata - you went for the best player who'd also play damn near exactly like him and keep the strengths and weaknesses so to speak. For Ibra I think any playmaking striker with a great goalscoring record would have been good. Even someone like Lewandowski from the current era, and from an all time perspective the pool is fairly big. But in terms of a real close replica you are right that it is hard to find. Such a big and strong player with a fantastic goalscoring record who also has great feet and playmaking ability.

Player profiles:

GK: UBALDO FILLOL
- “The Duck” Ubaldo Fillol is the greatest South American goalkeeper of all-time. He was voted in the top five South American footballers of the year 8 times. His best highlight is the performance in world cup 1978 where he made many brilliant saves especially in the final match when Argentina won their first world cup. Fillol was a keeper with some of the fastest reflexes to ever play the game in addition to his excellent shot-blocking and positional play. Apart for being famous for his penalty saves(holds the record for most penalty saves in Argentina) his reading of the game is pretty impressive and he's excellent in 1 on 1 situation, always knowing when to leave his line.
A compilation of his saves, worth seeing:

RB: STEFAN REUTER - Brian Laudrup picked him for the best RB he played with describing him pretty well: "My Bayern Munich team-mate is one of the most dedicated players I ever met. Extremely fast and athletic, even as right-back, he played a vital attacking role and scored goals. He was also great in one-on-ones – in attack and defence. ". Reuter won everything on club and international level being an integral part for Germany and Dortmund. He managed to win 1 WC, 1 EURO(also finalist in 92'), the CL in 1997 with Dortmund and of course 3 Bundesliga titles.

CB: DIEGO GODIN - The standout defender of the last 5-6 years, he's the bedrock of Atletico's rearguard and had a significant part in breaking the Barca/Real duopoly in recent years, winning the La Liga after a great match against one of the most renowned sides in history. 2 CL finals on top of that coming against a wide range of class attackers such as Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar, Suarez who rank pretty high in history themselves. On top of his accomplishments Godin is a top notch defensive leader, equally adept in the air and on the deck.

CB: VELIBOR VASOVIC - Undoubtedly one of the greatest sweepers to come from Europe. He's the first foreigner to captain AJAX and if Cruyff was the centerpiece in attack of Michels total football, Vasovic was the main organizer at the back. A true talent which ability didn't go unnoticed when playing at Partisan (reached and lost narrowly the EC final against Real a year before Michels brought him) he was a great leader whose pace, determination and leadership quality was the base for Michels defence.
What stood out most about Vasović - and it is a trait possessed by the game's greatest sweepers - is a confidence that not only bordered on arrogance it actively invaded and settled there. In his more subdued moments he claimed to be the central architect behind the totaalvoetbal philosophy, but it is undeniable that his pace and intelligence allowed Michels to implement the ruthlessly efficient offside trap that became a hallmark of Ajax's defensive strategy.
Vasović was the best (and the most complete) libero/centre-half/defensive midfielder Partizan Belgrade ever had. He had excellent understanding of the game, being always in the right place at the right time, combined with his natural talent as a defender. Although he was a defender, in his younger days he worked on his technique and passing, and improved in those segments of the game as well. Vasović was always among the leaders on the field, a player who could (when there's a need for that) push his team up to the limit and lead them to the victory.
LB: RUUD KROL - One of the most complete defenders in history who can play just as well as a full back, central defender or a sweeper. A true testimony of his level is having the higher average match grades by Guerin, La Stampa and later also Gazzetta (who started their grading in 1982) between 1980 and 1983 than none other than Scirea. He was rated better than some of the best Italian defenders in that era, being a foreigner. Voted Seria A player of the year in 1981 and also one of the few defenders finishing third in Ballon D'or in 1979.

B2B: JEAN TIGANA - Integral part of one of the most reknown midfielder lines in history, Jean Tigana was important cog in carre magique. Tireless midfielder, solid defensively and also able to contribute going forward with his passing range and technique. He brings the combative element in our side, but also effectively take part in possession and cover for the area in front of the defenders. He's very quick and with his tenacious mentality he will cover a lot of ground. Voted 2nd in Ballon D'or in 1984, behind Platini.

Wenger testimony::wenger:
“I remember Tigana was 63kg, a defensive midfielder and he was unbelievable defensively. He had that technique. I played against him [in a kickabout] at the European Championship in Sweden in 1992 and he was still the same – he won every challenge.
Playmaker: XAVI - Inarguably the best midfielder of his generation. In his glory days he was the engine of possibly the greatest club and international teams. No one could dominate games as Xavi and you can't really take the ball off him. He was a midfield general not only at Barca but Spain as well. He could move the ball and set the tempo with a touch or two, but also keep it, distribute it on the flanks and slice the defence wide open. On top of that he had incredible work rate and at his peak could run all game.

“If Xavi has a bad day then Barcelona do not play half as well. He is the one that sets the rhythm of the game. His play allows the team to function. He’s different”
- Cruyff

B2B: ARTURO VIDAL - A complete midfielder who at his peak was capable of bossing any game. Known for his fierce tackling and physical style he adds more steel to our midfield, playing his favorite box to box role. At his peak he led his team goalscoring and assist charts in 12/13 season showing both his passing ability and composure in front of the goal. Successful at every level he led his national team to 2 Copa America victories, with a notable game against Argentina in the 2015 Copa final, winning the MOTM accolade. At his peak he led his team goalscoring and assist charts in 12/13 season showing both his passing ability and composure in front of the goal.
Not only a fierce warrior and competitor on the pitch, Vidal is an accomplished player on the ball capable of influencing play on the other half of the pitch significantly - during his peak years from 2010-2014, he scored 53 goals, topped the goalscoring and assists charts not once but twice for league winners Juventus and runners-up Leverkusen.

LW: RONALDINHO - Ridiculously gifted he's one of those rare players who can change the course of the game in a split second. Ronaldinho could do things with the ball that no one else could. He manipulated it as if he was telling it where to go with his mind, not his foot. At his absolute peak he was unstoppable.

RW: GEORGE BEST - George had it all, balance, vision and breath taking brilliance. He was magic. His swerving runs and pace took him past the best defenders in the world, he played for fun. During George's playing days, the winter pitches became mud baths but he could still pirouette and ghost from one penalty area to another. When he was in full flight he was a sight to behold.

CF(false 9): EUSEBIO - With a shot as powerful as any seen in the history of football, magnificent pace – he could run the 100 metres in less than 11 seconds, and the ability to outwit many fine defenders of the day, the 'Black Pearl' took Portuguese football to a level it had never before known. After Bela Guttmann’s side had become only the second club ever to win the European Cup in 1961 beating Barcelona 3-2, his two goals in the 1962 final helped see off the all-conquering Real Madrid 5-3. One of the most prolific scorers in history producing some incredible numbers:

727 Total career goal tally from 715 apps
1.02 Eusebio's goals-per-game ratio
41 Portugal goals record in 64 apps
47 European Cup goals in 63 matches
17 The Black Pearl's major trophy haul
9 Major individual awards tally

3 times EC top scorer - a record bettered only Messi, Ronaldo and Gerd Muller.

Ah right yeah I wanted the styles of each player to match up. There is someone I've got my eye on for an Ibra replacement but it all depends on who goes through and who is available in the reinforcements. Obviously counting on the fact that I get through which with some of these teams is definitely no sure thing.

ENRICO ALBERTOSI

Agile and acrobatic Italian Enrico Albertosi was one of the top goalkeepers in the world in the 1960s and 1970s. His career in Serie A spanned more than 20 years, and he achieved success at several clubs as well as having a long international career. However, towards the end of his career his reputation was scarred by a match-fixing scandal.

He was a product of Spezia’s academy. Albertosi first came to prominence when he made his Serie A debut for Fiorentina in 1958 at age 18, and in a ten year spell in Florence, Albertosi won 2 Italian Cups, a Mitropa Cup and the first ever edition of the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup with the club from Tuscany.

He made his debut for the Italy senior national team in 1961, when head coach Giovanni Ferrari included him in a friendly against Argentina held in Florence. Ferrari then included him into the squad that took part in the 1962 World Cup in Chile.
A
fter Edmondo Fabbri’s appointment as Italy head coach, Albertosi became a regular in Italy’s squad. He was the Azzurri’s starting goalkeeper at the unsuccessful 1966 World Cup held in England. Albertosi then won the 1968 European Championship with the Azzurri, although he lost his starting place to Zoff.

In 1968, Albertosi moved on the the unfashionable Sardinian club Cagliari, where he was a part of the team that stunned Italian football by winning the Serie A title in 1970. Back in favur internationally, he went to that summer's World Cup in Mexico and played a major part in Italy's run to the final, where they overcame West Germany in an astonishing semi-final before losing to Brazil. Thanks to his good performances, Albertosi was the only Italian goalkeeper who rivalled Dino Zoff as starter.

The rotation with Zoff continued until 1972, when Albertosi made his last appearance for Italy in a friendly against Bulgaria held in Sofia. Overall, Albertosi has won 34 caps.

He then moved to AC Milan and won his third Italian Cup and his second Serie A title (almost aged 40) during his six-year spell spent in Lombardy.

It's a good effort mate, United's team is a bit of blank canvas at the moment with Mourinho strengthening 3-4 positions in the Summer(hopefully Griezmann as well) :)

REDTIGER/PEYROTEO TEAM

A few points we'd like to point out about our team:
- Physicality - This team isn't going to get bullied by anyone, the spine of the team is tall, agressive and very strong.
- Set pieces - Most of these players scored often enough from set pieces. Giggs had an excellent delivery, our entire backline would be tough to stop by themselves, but we also have 6 ft 4 Patrick Vieira, 6 ft 3 Ruud Gullit, Pelé and Roy Keane as threats. The importance of set pieces should not be underestimated.
- Balance in midfield - It's agressive, combative and very physical whilst having the magic and creativity to support the attack. It can transform into whatever the game asks, can play sitting back without the ball breaking away with fast counters or controlling the match with the ball and suffocating opponents
- Personality - It's a team full of leaders and winners
- CBs that complement eachother

CASILLAS - GK - One of the most decorated players of all time
1 World Cup, 2 Euros, 3 Champions League titles and 5 league titles. He's a superb shotstopper and most people would argue his only weakness was how he dealt with crosses. This team offers him more than enough protection in that department.

BERGOMI - RB

Bergomi played his entire career at Inter and was an extremely versatile defender, who was capable of playing anywhere along the backline. He is regarded as one of the greatest defenders of all time and was only recently surpassed by Zanetti as the player with most appearances for Inter. The highlight of his career was winning the WC in 1982, in which he played a big part

RONALD KOEMAN - RCB
Ronald Koeman was a great ball playing CB that scored a very abnormal amount of goals for a defender. In his club career he scored 193 goals in 535 games

JOHN CHARLES-LCB
Rated by many as the greatest all-round footballer ever to come from Britain, he was equally adept as a forward or a defender due to his strength, pace, technique, vision, ability in the air and eye for goal.

Incomparable. John wasn't only one of the greatest footballers who ever lived. He was one of the greatest men ever to play the game.

— Sir Bobby Robson

John Charles was a team unto himself. People often say to me, 'Who was the best player you ever saw?', and I answer that it was probably Eusébio, Di Stefano, Cruyff, Pelé or our own Bobby Charlton. But the most effective player I ever saw, the one that made the most difference to the performance of the whole team, was without question John Charles.

— Jack Charlton.

COSTACURTA - LB
Costacurta is regarded by many pundits, managers and players as one of the greatest defenders in history; he formed some of the most formidable defensive units of all time during his extensive career at Milan. Costacurta was a tactically versatile defender, who excelled anywhere along the backline, which allowed him to have a long and highly successful career, both at club level and with the national side, winning many trophies (7 Serie A and 5 European Cups).

PATRICK VIEIRA - CM
Vieira was a complete, powerful, tenacious and aggressive footballer, with outstanding physical, athletic and technical attributes. Usually deployed as a defensive, central, or box-to-box midfielder, he was a competent tackler, and a tactically intelligent midfielder, gifted with good ball skills, distribution and vision, which enabled him to start attacking plays in midfield after winning back possession

ROY KEANE - CM

Keane was a dominating midfielder, noted for his aggressive and highly competitive style of play, an attitude that helped him excel as captain of Manchester United from 1997 until his departure in 2005. Joining the club in 1993, Keane helped United achieve a sustained period of success during his twelve year tenure at the club.

RUUD GULLIT - AM

A complete and versatile player, Gullit epitomised the ethos of Total Football as he was naturally adept in several positions, and was capable of aiding his team defensively as well as offensively due to his work-rate and tactical intelligence. Normally deployed as an attacking midfielder or as a second striker, he was capable of playing anywhere in midfield or along the front-line, on either wing or even in the centre. Regarded as one of the greatest players of all-time, his foremost attribute was his athleticism, as he used his strength and speed, comined with his technique, to great effect; he was also excellent in the air, as he was tall and an excellent jumper.

JOSÉ AUGUSTO - RW

He was known as the portuguese Garrincha due to his dribbling abilities. When people think of that Benfica team they think of three names, Eusébio, Coluna and Bela Guttmann. José Augusto was just as important as them, especially in their first European Cup win.

RYAN GIGGS - LW - The most decorated player in football
He terrorized every opposing right back with his terrifying speed, but his intelligence on the pitch was remarkable. He knew when to keep possession and when to attack, helping his team control the game while being able to change the score with his wand of a left foot.

PELÉ - STRIKER

Pelé is widely regarded as the greatest footballer of all time. While being a prolific goalscorer, known for his ability to anticipate opponents in the area and finish off chances with an accurate and powerful shot with either foot, Pelé was also a hard-working team-player, with exceptional vision and intelligence, who was recognised for his precise passing, and ability to link-up with teammates and provide them with assists.

Off topic but probably the best place to ask. Does anyone know where I can watch England vs W Germany in '72 with commentary in English or otherwise? The only version I can find on YouTube is without commentary which a pain when trying to figure out who is who.
