The 'How you getting to Bilbao' thread

Age old problem, but I'm struggling to find accommodation at a reasonable price. Any recommendations are welcomed :)

You have no chance in Bilbao now. Try the areas within an hour that you can cab to after.

Bermeo, Vitoria, even Santander / San Sebastian

Stay away from cabs in the area, crazy expensive. Rather find a bus from San Sebastian or something. That city is beautiful.

An overpriced cab at 4am post match back to your hotel is better than a £2k hotel room.
Of course, but you'll get charged a couple hundred euros for a 1 hour trip that day (i've been burnt in Bilbao and Sebastian before), so rather look for a bus if you don't want to spend feck you money on a cab.

Most people will be rooting for Spurs. We’ve gone 40 years without a trophy, lost a bunch of finals… easy to feel for them
Thought that was probably the case but deleted it. "Or do you have a soft spot for Spurs since they never win anything?" sounded like I was dissing you  I know full well the constraints you face, it's clearly bloody hard.

As for Herrera, he’s not exactly a uniting figure. People here still remember that failed transfer on deadline day in 2013—it felt like a shady move.
We also thought it was shady, just got lost in the long list of embarrassing Woodward manoeuvres.

I would have thought him returning after PSG would have been well received, or did it go sour somehow?

Had a look at getting an Uber from the Santander to the ground, it was just under €100, guessing it’s going to be surging like crazy on that Wednesday.

Any suggestions for a route that doesn't cost over £400.
We're going with interrail ticket to hendaye on France Spain border, which is 1hr 25 away, then bus/train/hire car/ hitch from there. 280 euros for the interrail, plus about 100 quid extra on reservations.

If someone can get me a single ticket then I can sort them out with accomodation as have rented a 4 bed house close to the ground.

Set off at half past daft from Manchester on the Monday, with nothing but a dream louder than Roy Keane’s biggest sigh of disappointment. My flight will be delayed, obviously. And it will have something to do with Gary Neville unionising seagulls on the runway.

There is a flight from Dublin to Girona 1 way on Tuesday 20th May at 9.15pm for 53 euro. Land after midnight. You'd need to spend all the following day travelling to Bilbao. I'm sure u could get a cheap flight from somewhere in or near Manchester to Dublin on 20th. Might be an option.

Flight home same route on the Thursday only 22 Euro. Flight departs at 11.35am ( possibly a bit early given u have to get from Bilbao to Girona after the game Wed night )

Still, return flights for 75 Euro.

Checked out on my ticket on the UEFA website. Very easy process and you can't say fairer than €40.
Yeah we have gone for the same section, probably the cheapest thing I will pay for during this trip.

£40 had sold out by the time I got in at 9.20am. Took Cat 3.

Finalised my route.

Manc > London > Paris > Bordeaux train Mon/Tue.

Drive to Bilbao Tuesday, same thing back Thursday

Got nowhere to stay Tuesday and Wednesday night so if anyone has anything let me know.

The effort our fans are putting in, I just hope the players turn up for them.

San Sebastián has loads of cheap air BNBs if you don’t mind staying in a random persons spare room. It’s an hour away though

Lots of campsites, hostels also if you don't mind

We were told for the semi final to stay away from Uber out there , they’re not cheap .

Was considering going but even category 2 tickets seem to be listed at a 1000 pounds. Surely can’t be right ?
That’s touting for you , I’d hold tough I reckon United will have returns . I was able to get Category 4 tickets this morning for €40 each I didn’t expect to have any access to them.

I have got a twin room at Ibis Santander going spare between 20th and 23rd.

It’s £315 for 20th - 22nd and £90 between 22nd - 23rd.

If anyone wants it let me know as I have got up until the 18th to cancel it.

EDIT JUST NOTICED THE ROOMS ARE NOT TWINS.

20TH-22ND (DOUBLE + SOFABED)
22ND-23RD (DOUBLE)

I can potentially split this 20th-22nd with someone if I find a reliable way from Santander to the game and back.

At midnight - 3am?
There are buses at 2 but they’re fully booked

Try to spam ALSA ( bus company) with emails asking for extra buses that night

or get together in this forum and book a private bus for 50 people with a local company.

Seeing a few struggling with a way back from Santander, and I might be able to help.

I’ve booked an Alsa coach to and from the final as I’m staying in Santander, but the return is at like 8am the following morning.

I’ve also booked a hire car, so I don’t mind taking 3 people with me - the reality of waiting 8-10 hours + the 90min coach is increasingly sinking in.

I don’t have a ticket for the match, so bonus points if you’ve got a solid lead on where to find a good big screen with some decent reds (or where I can buy a ticket for a reasonable price!).

Booked with Avanza in the end - you know them?

I don't think there are any buses back my way after the game. Looks like a one hour taxi ride for me. Though it will still be significantly less than paying for a hostel in Bilbao that night.

Where's that mate?

I'm also stuck getting back to San Seb. May have to wait it out until the first buses at 6am

There's a rideshare app in Spain you could use. Can't remember the name.

If someone's driving somewhere, they advertise on the app and you chip in a few quid for the ride.
