There is no benefit one way or the other.. If you have a squad of 14 then you could use it for tactical flexibility.. But if you are going to pick random Asians/Americans who you are never going to play then it doesn't matter if you have 11 or 14

It allows more flexibility in the reinforcement rounds I think. For example if you have two French players - one from the 50s, one from the 80s - and you were to pick up two players from the 40s now, if you come across a French player from the 40s you would have to drop one French player and one player from the 40s. Whereas if you leave it as is, you'd only have to drop one of the French players. I think that's right? I hadn't considered it until right this second...

But for the most part it's just a question of whether there's actually a player that could ever provide any value. I've spent way too long researching historical football players and I'm not sure I've ever come across a reputable Asian player pre-60s!

:lol: Completely agree on the second part. Was looking at South American non-copa winners born in the 1910s before. Wasn’t exactly a fruitful endeavour!

Interesting on the first part - I think you’re exactly right. Only caveat is that given the type of player everyone is looking at right now (1930 Asian substitute right backs and the like) then it’s unlucky you would be looking to take someone in a reinforcement who matches the same criteria.

No point really in picking anymore players. I have South American slot and even a WC slot but have exhausted all the decades you could pick a decent option from the bench.

Besides I've already researched in the positions I needed to complete my team and there is no point in picking more players as I don't consider them any better than the ones I already have.

Sanchez was a good option on either wing that could provide something different in attack, but then even picking him isn't much of an option either way as I have pretty versatile starting 11 with players I can use on either flank - Nedved, Benarrivo, all across the attack - Kalle and Pluskal who can bridge the defence and midfield and provide option for 5-3-2 or 4 man back line or even zona mista considering Djalma's ability to tuck in.

I considered picking couple of Argies - old and modern ones that could provide some options but would weaken my team if I sub in some of my starting 11, creating more issues than positives.

Interesting on the first part - I think you’re exactly right. Only caveat is that given the type of player everyone is looking at right now (1930 Asian substitute right backs and the like) then it’s unlucky you would be looking to take someone in a reinforcement who matches the same criteria.

I think it ends up being a little more complicated than that actually! You won't want to get a 1930s Asian player, but you might want to bring in a 1930s Hungarian player...in which case picking that 1930s Asian player makes it more difficult! For example:
  • I get to the next round and I want Scirea
  • I need to have a free 50s spot and a free Italian spot
  • At the moment I have no free Italian spots, nor do I have an Italian player from the 50s - so I can't do a straight swap
  • If I were to get an Asian player from the 50s from my last spot, I would have to get rid of either him or Cueto and Mazzola or Meazza
  • If I were to pick up no player, I would only have to get rid of Mazzola or Meazza
(note I couldn't actually get Scirea because he's a first pick...I'm not trying to steal your players @2mufc0!:D)

But yeah generally I think it probably won't make much of a difference!
 
@Brwned you still can pick two players tho. The chance you won’t get round it by picking two reinforcements is pretty slim.
 
Btw I like the Cueto and Cubillas picks, that Peru side I watched in the last year or so and really fun team. Great to see them represented.

We have no problems with that, it is dragging unnecessary. Only how we gonna do it, everyone who is left can post their picks at any time within next I don't know 8, 12 hours and we finish it after that timeline?

Next 12 hrs makes sense to me? I'm not overly fussed but just seems like moving this along quickly is probably in everyone's interests. Once the game of chess about anticipating others' picks and working around that goes away, it just becomes a mundane process I reckon...

Yeah, same thinking. Also, 12 hours looks fair as it will give chance to everyone regarding time zones.

Just don't know who is up to make that call. @Edgar Allan Pillow @oneniltothearsenal ?

Maybe just tag the rest of the people that are not done and make it 12 hours deadline in which they can post their remaining picks at any time during that deadline? Just a suggestion, I'm fine, either way.
