Anthony is going nowhere I suspect so it seems we need to bring Amad on and then think about someone like Williams in the youth to follow him.

Greenwood
Dan James
Amad
Pellestri
Sancho
Antony

And we have to go for a RW yet again. One of the reasons why are we broke is right there.

Personally think Amad is exactly the type of player we need in that position. We need someone who has the brain for a decent pass/cross.

Give the lad a chance and if he doesn't look up to it then Olise.

Yeremy Pino looks like a player who can actually beat a man with his dribbles, unlike Antony

OK after extensive research I’ve unearthed Anwar El Ghazi, the 28 year old free agent right winger. Best of all, he’s Dutch AND used to play for Ajax. Get him signed.

Amad is my choice and then Pellistri.

About time we have someone who can actually dribble past defenders.

Has anyone mentioned Mason Greenwood from Getafe. That lad looks promising.

Chukwueze has gone to AC Milan as well.

I'd look at Nico Williams. Extremely exciting player and think he will go on to be a much better player than his brother Iñaki. Not sure if he would be willing to leave Bilbao playing with him, though, but we should be in for him. Insane pace on this guy, great at taking players on (successfully, not like Antony). Bowen would also be another good player who I think would do great for us.

We should measure ourselves against the rivals we aspire to beat. They have Salah, Saka, Foden etc on the right. Top class game-changing players.

Antony will never be in that league and Pellistri isn't in that universe. Only Amad has even a hint of that ability, although it remains to be seen whether he can cut it physically in this league as he lacks burst and upper body strength.

Sadly I think we're doomed to mediocrity in this area of the team until we're sold.

Amad for me. If he's given as many opportunities as Antony has been afforded, he'll be a serious player for us.

Just as capable (maybe even more so than Antony) with cutting inside and bending one in the corner, but has more variety to his game, better vision and takes better care of the ball.

Want to see Amad given a good run of games to test his level, similar with Pellistri although I'd have Amad ahead in the pecking order for now.

If we do need to enter the market, Olise, Bowen or Mbuemo would be my shouts. Think I'd prefer to get someone who wouldn't need to adapt to the PL.

I wonder if our (possible) shortcomings in the position may pave a way for Mount and Bruno playing together.

Also better agility and better close control.

Think Eth needs to make do with the 200m euro of talent he has in there, one of which has been top ten players in the Europe in the past, the other he hand picked.

If ETH gets sacked and we need to look again and we have a manager that wants to play a direct style then maybe we can prioritize the position again.

He isn't even nearly as good at Antony at that. Antony is one of the best in the world at that. Just a total one trick pony

Huh? He’s scored 8 goals since he signed.
You know he's just been here a year, right? Goals alone, it's not really that bad, it's the combination with lack of assists that makes it much worse. If you look at other non-world class right wingers, they don't score a lot goals either. I do expect a lot more from Antony, though.

I think this thread may have more to do with reasons beyond natural talent/cost as to why those options may not be possible going forward.

The de ja vu thread. We have had this thread ever since Valencia and Nani stopped playing RW.

And it’s ridiculous that they are all still on the books with the exception of Dan James of course.

I hope Amad or Pellistri get a chance this season as it’s a waste otherwise and not helping their careers or value either. Not sure when Amad is due back from injury, for me he is the one I have the highest hopes for.

The market in this position always looks like slim pickings, Pino or Williams maybe but neither would be cheap.

How are we going to sign anyone when we don`t have the cash? Or can`t spend anymore due to FFP?
It`s not like anyone would be interested in signing Sancho or Antony for us to bring in some money for an incoming.
Diallo is our only option this season

I think, longer term, we'll end up playing a system that allows Rasmus to drift to the right wing where he can use his left foot. A bit like when Martial was good and used to drift left so Rashford could drift central. It'd mean we might not need a specialist RW.

Amad and Pellestri can fight for the spot this season. Lets hope one of them comes good.

We struggled to fund some cheap loans at end of the window just to fill squad spaces, we aren't going to be able to afford another winger. Also think a tucked in RW may be ideal for Mount.

We have Sancho (who wasn't very savvy with his reaction considering) because a light word tussle with the manager is not this gigantic seismic problem that means we must show him the door. Pellestri and hopefully Diallo at some point. Bruno and Mount could also play the position if needed.

Not even sure we need to look at the market come January.

Personally, I'd give Mount (when fit) a spell on the Right side of attack/midfield.
Not a winger, but I think would give a balance, and allow Casemiro, Amrabat & Bruno to all play centrally, with Mount having the freedom to patrol up and down the right.

Be interested to see if Amad or Pellestri make a good go of it this season, before splashing more cash on this position in the summer.

I think Mount on the RW in the short term makes the most sense, he has played well for Chelsea there in the past and will allow us to tighten things up in the middle.

I hope you guys know that FFP challenges are not permanent. The a counts are on a rolling 3 year cycle. We have plenty of cash, and having exhausted our limits in one summer doesn’t mean that would be the case in the next one.

Also, this conversation is also on the premise of players being sold for money, which can then be reinvested. Of Sancho needs replacing, he won’t be leaving on a free transfer.
