Not this league, but my custom league with just my mates and mates of mates, there's 15 of us, and we've been playing it for nearly ten years, and we take it pretty seriously...everybody at the same clubs they started at, plenty of transfer deals hashed out in the pub, etc...

anyway, my mate in season 1, bought Xabi Alonso, he played his entire career at Inter Milan, 22 seasons, until he announced his retirement...my mate offered him out to recoup some cash so I snapped him up for United as a stop gap for the season as back up as he can play CB/DM...

So last night, I played Inter in the SMFA Cup final, and I'm going for 5 SMFA Champions Cup wins in a row, which in a competitive league like ours is fecking good going...

I decided that it was destiny that Xabi Alsono would score the winner, so played him at CB and set him as free kick taker...it's 1-1, going into the last 5 minutes, and who should score the winner, from a free kick...Xabi Alonso...

I've never laughed so much in my life...

Side note, my mate is Chelsea manager and has gone two full seasons unbeaten in the league, winning them with 102 and 100 points...and there are some strong teams in our league as well...it's got to be a bug, as he plays a 4-4-2 diamond, so should, in theory, get over run in midfield against a 3-5-2 of 4-5-1, but the cnut never gets fecking beat...he was 2-0 down and down to 10 men with 80 minutes gone, but still drew 2-2 the other week...add to that, he's a right smug cnut about it...

First XI:
---------------------Reina (90)
Pereira (90) - Ferreira (90) - Martinez (90) - D'Ambrosio (89)
--------------Parolo (91) - Marchisio (93)
----Valero (91) - Banega (92) - Konoplyanka (90)
---------------------Dzeko (92)

Second team (with three spaces requiring rotation):

-----------------------Werner (83)
Guilbert (85) - Naldo (90) - Fazio (89) - Emerson (88)
------------Perez (90) - Parolo/Valero (91/91)
Jonas (90) - Konoplyanka/Valero (90/91) - Mina/Banega (87/92)

That's my business done for this season, as soon as @Damien accepts the Mina loan bid. Came a long way from a net worth of 80m (closing in on 200m now).

By the way, Caetano Samir will be available to buy from Schalke in a week. Everyone should bid, he'll be a very good player. Best LB (aside from Emerson) for his age in Serie A last season.

Yeah he also has a ruptured knee ligament and has been out for a while and will miss the start of the season.

Impressive that Darlington are in the top 5 for squad value given where they started from.

Yah, Ben took full advantage of us idiots in the first few seasons and managed to build a great young squad which has now matured.

Surprised he's not top 3 tbh.

I think that is in part to him being busy in real life of late. A few players of his stalled a bit as well like Gimenez.

Ya, Ben was light years ahead of us. Had he been able to keep as active as he was initially - and do a few deals, he could have been similar to Damo in terms of depth and future. He always had a young squad.
