Elknigge versus the trio of cnuts. Match up of the century.
Great to see Elkjaer in a final but I do think Team EAP can finally strengthen the one area I didn't like about their side. Going forwards though what a unit.

Seems like @Joga Bonito and @Edgar Allan Pillow don't want to play. I still haven't received their 3 picks for this reinforcement round.
Should we reinstate the old practice of not announcing the reinforcement? That was another benefit of "pick from the oppo" instead of pool-based upgrades. You basically knew the pool the rival could pick from, but no pick was official until the game effectively started. Mindfeck.

Gave games a great surprise factor... and also spectacularly backfired at times, like that final I lost 8 votes inside a quarter of an hour for not picking Rivaldo and instead getting Davids. I had Zidane FFS

In this case you would of course have to communicate blocks, but once there is a successful bid only the manager is informed.

Surely time limit is up. You should just move on now
It's hard to find agreement across a trio of cnuts. It's hard enough to agree on your targets, nevermind screw the oppo tactics.

Imagine getting three RAWKites to agree on this for the next transfer season:

Spacker #1: "We should block Depay, Gundogan and Hummels"
Spacker #2: "What if they go Hummels first?"
PoP: "Who cares what they do? We should get Messi!"

@Edgar Allan Pillow@Theon Another player wanted from your team.
Second pick:
Burgnich

@Joga Bonito
Second pick:
Lahm

These will be the picks unless the first ones go unchallenged. Both looking for a right back :)

Both first picks goes unchallenged. EAP didn't go for the obvious Brehme/Lahm block and instead focused on his own team. Nesta joins team EAP, while Brehme joins Team Joga.

Far from obvious. Beckenbauer was also an option but all three are German and he already has two nailed on German starters. Would have been incredibly risky.

Oh and @Joga Bonito plays at home, because he was drawn into the first semifinal @Edgar Allan Pillow . So the final is Joga Bonito vs Team EAP. Let's give some meaning to the silly numbers after all @antohan ;).
Wait, I was a home-team for the semi-final, wasn't I? Then we played in USSR and Suarez wasn't available for selection - Franco won't let him go, like he didn't in 1960! Technicality

Yeah, but you should have mentioned that before the game. A good dictator would have, not complained afterwards.

Thought Theon would be one of the favorites for the draft, poor bugger that was a fine team.
Aye, I was pretty gutted with a first round defeat

I've done well in quite a lot of these drafts and that team was comfortably the best I've drafted in a first round (IMO). It was pretty much exactly what I wanted to create - and had I gone through against harms Beckenbauer would have been mine :annoyed::annoyed:

In terms of the final - looks close as can be, Nesta is the upgrade I would have made. I think he makes a big difference to that defence. Blanc and Nesta looks classy as hell.

I would agree. I went out in the British draft when I had drafted well in the first stages for once.

Was pretty sure that he would go for Burgnich after blocking Brehme and Lahm in round 1 and 2. That would have really screwed up everything for Joga and he'd be in need of finding some overly creative solution. Would have taken a lot of balls though considering if Joga hadn't picked them EAP would have fecked himself over with too many Germans.

I am guessing EAP was hoping that the mind game would already cause Joga enough troubles.

You seem to criminally underrate Demyanenko. Joga could have played a back four as well. I think you will find Joga's only mindgames were with himself.

I think it was Vukas who let you down. A more familiar name might have done you wonders.

My players seem to be in demand all of a sudden.

Edit : Tbh, I was expecting at least one of Iniesta/Xavi to be snapped up when they became available. I do get the vibe that people tend to steer clear of them, unless they have the absolute perfect system for them, which is a pity (esp for Iniesta who I think can play in a more direct system and the 08 Xavi as well).

What's the longest a draft has taken?
Unfortunately the snake drafts takes a lot of time, the main negative with them. This one is nothing uncommon. That is why I like that there are plenty of drafts that people run and new ones are brought up as well.

Also depends a bit on who is running the draft, @Edgar Allan Pillow 's draft was perfect in that regard. Show up late and you're out of the draft. It makes it a lot worse if people gets replaced but the idea behind a stricter schedule is rather that people don't abuse the fact that there are no repercussions.

But these longer drafts are what fuels shorter and more intense drafts afterwards though so they fill their purpose too.

The matches and the reinforcement rounds all went rather quickly in my opinion. It never took more than a week for a round, if I'm not mistaken. The initial drafting took a while, that's always the case in a snake draft. But it's not really that much longer than in other formats, it just feels longer because the managers have a lot more to do in sheep drafts and auction drafts, while they mostly wait for their turn in snake drafts.

We started drafting on April 5th, 5 weeks and 1 day ago. The first sheep draft started Feb 8 and the final was played on Mar 17, which are about 5 weeks. The first auction draft started Mar 23 and the final was played on May 13, which is even longer than this draft. The World Cup draft started Dec 10th and the final was played on Feb 5th, now that took ages.

EAP's reality draft, which @Annahnomoss thought went really quickly, started on Sept 8 and the final was played on Okt 13. So if Joga had time to play today or tomorrow instead of Friday, this draft would have taken about the same time.
