Ah boy
Here we go. Not surprised at all.Chelsea fans gonna Chelsea
Neither are we.Here we go. Not surprised at all.
My post on another thread. Call me what you want.always thought it was a daft idea for the Premier League to get into bed with a movement that is selective in it's opposition to racism. I guess that's the power of peer pressure from the players. What would have been more apt would have been to display the names of BAME people who have lost their lives to covid in the UK to highlight how disproportionately these communities have been affected by the virus and the reasons why they are so vunerable to it (structural racism). Instead you now have the players donning the name of a movement which has today published some lovely antisemitic nonsense on their twitter account. A couple of days ago they released another statement on twitter clarifying their position on a few other things as well: "We are an ABOLITIONIST movement, we do not believe in reforming the police, the state or the prison industrial complex".
Replying for the obvious white text...The BLM crap at the start of the games. I hope the PL recognise how naive they were by getting into bed with an abolitionist far left movement.
The league has come out saying they don’t support the political movement. Sky and BBC have also told the pundits to stop wearing the symbol. Along with clubs like Crystal Palace coming out with statements about not supporting the politics of it either. So they agree with you and I’m sure if it was done again they’d come up with a different symbol to use.My post on another thread. Call me what you want.
It needs doing, as otherwise you get this tedious grappling, that they used to just let go totally. Not a gripe about modern football per se (or maybe it is) but I find it infuriating when referees interrupt the taking of a corner or a free-kick when there’s jostling in the box just so he can wag his finger at the guilty parties. Why do they do this? That’s not their job. Blow the whistle, let the game restart, and if there’s any offence committed, then award the penalty or free-kick accordingly.
Or don’t. I don’t particularly care. Just don’t interrupt the fecking game because you want to insert yourself into proceedings and disrupt the flow of the match. They don’t forewarn players in any other instance on the pitch about their behaviour so why do they feel the need to do it at corners and free-kicks into the box? It absolutely drives me mad.
Nah, mate. I’m not having that.It needs doing, as otherwise you get this tedious grappling, that they used to just let go totally.
One word from the ref and they suddenly crap their pants and it's over again.
There is no play, because there's a set piece they can't take because of the grappling.Nah, mate. I’m not having that.
Let play develop. See what happens. Deal with any offences accordingly.
It’ll stop after a week or so, guaranteed.
It's really noticeable when I watch the games with my kids. It should not be permitted to advertise outside of the watershed in my opinion.I hate the overwhelming volume of betting ads. Just fecking can’t escape them. I don’t mind a bet every once in a while by the way
Really can’t help society either. Next generation of kids are going to feature a section who grow up to be a bunch of gambling degenerates who end up suffering depression after losing everything.
Football pre 2014 was so much betterOver analysing everything. Whether it's pundits, fans on forums or transfer sagas.
It was all so much better years back.
They really ought to have been banned by now.I hate the overwhelming volume of betting ads. Just fecking can’t escape them. I don’t mind a bet every once in a while by the way

Football peaked in the mid 90s mate.Football pre 2014 was so much better
But that’s my point. Why interrupt the taking of a set-piece to tell players to stop fouling? When did this become part of the referee’s remit? There is no play, because there's a set piece they can't take because of the grappling.
It used to be a lot worse, and the shirt tugging, holding was horrific. We can be thankful it's much less these days.
Because the ball will come in, the ref will see grappling, bottle it, and just give a free kick to the defending team. But that’s my point. Why interrupt the taking of a set-piece to tell players to stop fouling? When did this become part of the referee’s remit?
Play on, and if there’s an offence committed, award the free-kick or penalty. Often the grappling continues after the referee ‘warns’ them anyway and there’s never a foul awarded so it’s completely self-defeating and pointless.
I didn't know the Premier League said that. If they actually had a set of bollocks they would have scrapped the badges on shirts and the #blm stuff on the big screens. But it's easier to make a statement that they know will just get burried in the news. They're scared of being accused of racism by equally naive people as evidenced in the initial responses to my comment. The league has come out saying they don’t support the political movement. Sky and BBC have also told the pundits to stop wearing the symbol. Along with clubs like Crystal Palace coming out with statements about not supporting the politics of it either. I think you raise an important point (intentionally or not) about actions vs empty gestures. It’s all fine and well appearing to support causes such as this, but is racism being taken seriously and cracked down upon strongly enough by football authorities? The lack of opportunities for black managers and coaching staff In this country also lacks equity - why can extremely inexperienced coaches such as Frank Lampard, Ole, Arteta get an immediate opportunity at a top club, but people like Sol Campbell has to make do with Southend? There are still the occasional sly digs by commentators that black players are only good for their physicality and have lazy tendencies, whereas white players get a free pass on this. The BLM crap at the start of the games. I hope the PL recognise how naive they were by getting into bed with an abolitionist far left movement.

Proper 4-4-2s with wingers who actually played on their proper side.
Two strikers
Two midfielders who could do a bit of everything. None of these holding midfield twats, or pivots, or guys who can only attack.
Full backs main job was to defend, but they also worked up the line in tandom with their man on the wing.
Ho hum
Did these guys ever get punished in anyway? It was just before the massive cancel culture surge I imagine!Chelsea fans gonna Chelsea
The thing that annoys me most about this is the players will literally do what they were just told not to do but the referee won’t bother giving anything 99% of the time.

I'm not sure what I dislike more. The "Holding mid", or the solo striker. This post has give me so much nostalgia and is making me miss them days even more. Simpler time, football and life.
They got suspended prison sentences & fines in France. Chelsea banned them for life.Did these guys ever get punished in anyway? It was just before the massive cancel culture surge I imagine!
Pathetic bunch, scum of the earth!
Great to hear! How on Earth can people think that is acceptable geez. They got suspended prison sentences & fines in France. Chelsea banned them for life.
