Looked sloppy in the first minutes at the right. Did much better once Amass came on and he went inside.

Was fine when playing in the 6 role. Almost the ideal long term squad player who can do well enough in place of an injury / suspension.

I do think at some point and fairly soon he has to move past playing it very safe.

Not going to comment on the few minutes he played at RWB as he looked totally uncomfortable out there. When he moved into central midfield was more his usual self. He seems to have the knack of winning pretty much every tackle he attempts, but is very conservative in his passing. Top early to say if that's just his level or he's not yet comfortable in his role to show his passing repertoire.

yeah looked scared to death run and was on his heels as a defender, then in midfield mouch more encouraging, aggressive enough to win the ball. He's fihgint for his squad, definitely can be better then McT if he continues improving, just cant play like a coward.

He settled into the game, I’m not convinced he is good enough on the ball long term. But he could definitely have a role in the squad for next 18 months or so.

I hope I’m underestimating him but seems like someone you keep as a squad player for 18 months and then sell for a decent fee.

Look at him as a physical box to box utility squad player and he serves that well enough. Anything more is a bonus and anything less will require a loan/sale in the future if the rest of the personnel is up to scratch.

I like him, he’s very difficult to take on, he seems to read the game well and knows when to dive in and hold off and nick the ball. I agree he needs to start passing forward more but hopefully that will come.

Better teams than Leicester will punish some of his sloppiness but you can't teach that physical level, it is going to make a good career for him.
Yep.

Don’t think it’ll happen here but the boy has got a proper engine. One example where he was in their box for one of our corners which got cleared and it was Mavididi vs Fernandes on the break. Fernandes won the duel and the ball went back to Onana and Collyer was already back at the right wing back spot.

So far his of the ball ability far outweighs what he does on it. In a strange sense I still don’t really know what he is capable of on the ball as he doesn’t seem to get involved much in that sense, and when he does he’s just playing it short. Any regular youth team watchers know what he is capable of?

Off the ball he’s proven to be useful in our current plight. I think he just needs to keep developing further to cement his pace in the squad for the future. I think there’s other young CMs in the youth team that might be soon trying to take his spot is he’s not careful.

He has just come back from injury himself as well, so I'm not going to judge him too harshly.

What happened to him? If he’s injured again, it’s a concern, as he seems to be injured quite a bit

Such a shame this lad is injured as I think he is a good squad option for Amorin. Was starting to settle in before his injuries.

Shame he is injured. Could have got some minutes but that said he is not and should not be a United player. Don’t see the potential with him. If we can sell him and get some cash in this summer already it would be worth considering it and get a reasonable fee in for his potential for a team that is not expected or pressured to be in top 10

Various people would have said Declan Rice was a limited midfielder, more of a CB in possession, at the same age, and he stepped up.

Collyer was trained pretty well at Brighton by all accounts, and has a pass in him, but hasn't really been very expressive on the ball in the 1st team so far. He's got good anticipation though and can cover ground in a way few of United's midfielders, if any (certainly at senior level) can. If he can be a bit more progressive on the ball over the Summer, I think there's a squad player at least in there and the club saved a 25-30m punt elsewhere. If not, then he will suit a promoted side (with Utd keeping a sell-on clause) at the end of the window.
