Top 4 race / race abandoned (or maybe not) / Leicester & Chelsea in the process of bottling it

Sunday it is then. I'm still going off the old schedule. Said 15th of May. My bad.

I was just being a dickhead mate

They’ve got West Brom Sunday and then Burnley midweek next week. You’re absolutely right though. Burnley is their toughest fixture left

Your team selection tonight really spoke volumes where your priorities lay. It was your cup final, not ours.
That’s rich from someone who watched us win titles after titles for 2 decades…
You win your first title in 30 years and defend it in the most pathetic way, loosing 7-1 against Aston Villa along the way and think you are the big boys again.
A bit weird, but your are a Liverpool supporter after all…

Find it surprising how arsed you lot are about them probably getting 4th.

I'd rather they didn't but meh?

This year is a dream compared to the last few, fine with me.

You can draw with Chelsea and beat Spurs?

That works as well, Spurs is by far the easier game, and the first game against them this season was probably our easiest league game all season they were terrible. But we need to play to win in both games to have a chance.

I cant see Liverpool dropping any points now.

Im with you on this. As hilarious as it would be, fans are taking this a little too close to heart.
They have 3 games left, lets wait and see instead of stressing over something that means very little when its all said and done

It's only so we can laugh at them, well more than we are already after their pathetic title defence

Yeah we are never going to hear the end of them sealing champions league football at OT if it happens

This will end badly for Leicester, and the top four will consist of the four teams everyone predicted when the season started. First of all I think Chelsea will spank Leicester, and I don’t see them beating Tottenham either. That loss against Newcastle was really bad.

It has been a funny year. Everyone were talking about the craziest season ever where ten teams could win, where Liverpool and Barcelona relegates, where no team is running away with the title. Well, City ran away with the title and stepped off the gas months ago, Liverpool are going to make the CL (which makes this bizarre defender-less season no travesty for them), Barcelona are/were in a title fight, the relegation spots in the Premier League are totally predicted from the start…. the craziness disappeared and it ends quite as expected. Morale of the story? The season is long, the best teams usually do enough in the end… the hot, average teams always falter over 38 games.

And we’ll always be able to reply by reminding them that 12 months after their first title in 30 years, they were back to scrapping for top 4

If Liverpool win all their games then they only way they don’t get top 4 is.....
Chelsea beat Leicester by one goal and beat villa.

then Leicester need to beat spurs by a lot of goals.

not going to happen

so come on Big Sam and Sean !

I don’t care much. Preference would be both Liverpool and Chelsea out of top 4. West Ham won’t do it. It’s up to Leicester now to do their job to keep at least one of them out.
We have qualified, that’s all that matters from a United point of view.

Good point, weird how it is almost all coming together as predicted.

As good as they looked tonight (mainly due to us being terrible) Liverpool are also quite capable of ballsing it up in their next three. Can see them drawing a couple of them.

Would be amazed if either WBA/Burnley get anything out of the scousers who will be flowing with confidence

There is no way Liverpool don't win out their 3 remaining games they have top 4 in the bag now.

Liverpool, Dortmund and Juve could all miss top 4. Atletico look odds on to be champions in Spain while Lille are winning it in France.
Its beem a madness, we have just become acclimatised to it.

Don't think Liverpool will win all their games, either but one of Leicester and Chelsea are sure to drop points.

Awful? You're creating chaos among the peasants for your own entertainment. You should be laughing at the headache you're inducing.
Liverpool will likely get it now. There's no entertainment in that.

Theres Utd fans on here more worried about this than the fans who are actually involved.
Its weird. A lot of these posts reminds me of the doom and gloom when we drew v Southampton in the run in last season and we have basically been qualified for a good month now.

I think Leicester won't beat Chelsea nor Spurs and will finish behind Liverpool and Chelsea. They beat us 2-1 the other night but were no where near convincing even though they were better team in 2nd half.

Based on current form we are the favourites to drop out surely, but it isn't over until its over, I think as I said our best chance is beating Chelsea, as then we only require a good performance in one game, beating them means they cannot catch us even if we were to lose against Spurs badly. They are beatable, we beat them earlier in the season, granted that was under Lampard and I know they are a different beast now. But failing that a draw against them and a win at Spurs is a second chance at it.

Look at this table, to show it isn't over yet.

Yeah I don't get it. Sure you'd have preferred not to lose to Liverpool but it's a meaningless game and you've now chucked a grenade in the top 4 race and you get to sit back and watch the rest of us scramble and jostle for position.

There's no guarantee Liverpool win their remaining games. I happen happen to think they won't.
They will, even though it'll probably won't be easy for them against Burnley and maybe even Palace but they'll get over the line after tonight I'm sure of it.

It's between you and Leicester for the other spot probably and I do back you to finish above them, but basically much of it depends on your game against them.

Can't speak for others, but we've basically got nothing to play for , so a little drama is always nice. Also you can't really blame us when it's still very much in your own hands....

Liverpool will likely get it now. There's no entertainment in that.

If this season has taught us anything, it's that Liverpool are not likely to get anything.

Even if they do make top four, watching them celebrate it like shell suits were coming back into fashion will be equally as entertaining as them not making it.

We won't be celebrating like that. After the last two seasons, this one has been a massive let down. It'll just be a huge relief if we do squeeze in this year and then hopefully for me at least, we can get back to some sort of decent form next season.

I doubt there will be much celebrating. A sigh of relief maybe and a little bit of anger over having to make it so hard on ourselves. This team is built to win the league and major trophies as evidenced by the way we battered united today.
So scraping to get in the top four if that happens will be nice but it should’ve been a given.

Liverpool have regained a bit of their mojo. They'll sneak past Leicester now - Rodgers will choke it again

I'm suspicious that you don't actually think that for a second, and are saying that you wouldn't be overly happy as a defense mechanism for if/when you don't make it.

Going to be interesting how the Leicester Chelsea game plays out. Still think both those teams can just stay in the top 4.

United have a final to look upon, top 4 booked and second most likely. We got careless in Rome and again tonight, got a couple of goals scored in each but comical defending and poor concentration means we're just not able to keep the opposition out with not much riding on it. Roma should've had 4 or 5.
