Varane, Rice and Sancho would be an absolute dream window. Fixes the main problem areas in the team with real quality and would make us serious title challengers imo.

With Lingard going to West Ham, I'd say you be looking at 160 million pounds outlay there.

Doubt that will happen myself.

He's basically just summarised the first two pages of the Redcafe Transfer Forum.

I don't think any of this counts as new news. It's more a case of aggregating existing news.

Without CL football they can't afford him I believe. I hope we're not looking for 30 to 40 million for him as that'll mean he'll see out his contract here and be a cause for people to bitch and moan on the Caf about his performances.

Or just repeating the news over the last 2 months.
Think I prefer Romano

If Joel's recent statements were based in truth then we should expect a transfer window similar to Laurie's article.

Can't afford his wages?

Because if it's a fee involved then surely that wouldn't cost them anything other than reducing the cost for Declan Rice.

I think I must have missed them, what was the gist of what he said?

To me it reads like Whitwell is covering the options in each position that we are looking at, he's not saying we are going to buy them all.

Forward: Kane/Sancho/Ronaldo
Defence: Varane/Kounde/Torres
Midfield: Rice (worrying that no other options are mentioned)
Back-up RB: Trippier

Think it will be Heaton on a free, Sancho, and maybe a CB (Trippier potentially as well) if we can make enough back in sales. Our parsimonious owners have their perfect excuse to not go balls out this summer, with the pandemic, etc.

Whitwell has sources at the club, so based on what he says looks like we will be getting Trippier and Heaton, one of Sancho or Kane, and a CB. Don't think we'll get a DM if Rice is the only target as West Ham will demand an outrageous fee, so unless he pushes for a move, might be difficult to get him.

A top Forward, DM, CB and back up RB, GK in one window? I honestly can't imagine 5 players smiling and holding up our shirt in one window

Chelsea trolling with Kepa exchange. Our trolling with exchanging Martial is at least better.

So options/targets seem to be -

GK - Heaton(free)
CB - Varane/Torres/Kounde
RB - Trippier
CDM - Rice
RW - Sancho

If possible - Kane/Ronaldo

The only one that seems unrealistic to me is Rice (exc Kane/Ronaldo), he'd cost a fortune and wouldn't be worth the value. Rice and Sancho in one window is silly money.

It’s about the same money we spent on AWB and Maguire. Ultimately this entire window is going to be defined by who we can sell and for how much - I think our targets are pretty set just whether we have the money and how many we can get in.

It's about the same but it's only two of the many targets. With those two I don't see a new CB.

It's bound to come down to who we offload too and we know that always goes horribly.

Never mind the fee for Rice, Ronaldo’s wages would be astronomical. Having said that, we’ve got Edi for a year so I don’t see him or Kane here, and we might be in a better position to bid for Haaland next year.

A lot of this speculation is quite normal for the end of the season but the reality is that we will more than likely go for 3 players: a CDM, Sancho and one more with a CB being the most obvious, but Utd’s transfer dealings are anything but simple and obvious

Ronaldo would probably cost No transfer Fee and only wages.

And let's be honest his marketing and Shirts sales would cover 50% of the Wages Minimum.

In:

Heaton free
Sancho 70M
Rice 60M
Pau Torres 40M
Ronaldo free

Out:
Lindgard 25M
Martial. 25M
Dean Henderson 15M

105£ Million Net Spend

I have just watched several youtube videos of Soumare. If we let Leicester have him for less than 20 million I will be a tad upset. Looks quality

Ronaldo would command £50 million plus easily still. Zero chance he would be available on a free, especially considering what Juventus paid for him.

We're getting Heaton because DDG is off, not Henderson.

An experienced backup keeper.

Be nice surprise if that were true, then all in for Haaland next summer
Oooft, that's the spirit
It sure would. Strenghtening all three problem positions would be great, with the leeches Glazers still at the club i sadly doubt it will happen.
Maybe not. The optimist in me thinks the Glazers will want to placate the fans as a peace offering for the ESL stuff, although I'm likely just being delusional.

The only chance he leaves Juventus is on a free and Juventus are happy to let him go on a Free.
His wages are too much for Juventus, they can't pay it anymore.

Ronaldo would probably have to take a wage cut but like I said , his Marketing and Shirt Sales would cover half of his wages. Imagine the Shirt Sales in China with Ronaldo

It’s looking done though.

We’ve had our chances with him; been loads of scouting reports etc so of we really felt we needed him, we would have bids.. surely
