If it's the same come end of August then I'll take it back.We are basically the only club spending money so far (apart from PSG).

Someone post that 'death knocking on the door' meme with Murtough photoshopped. Dortmund, Madrid, Atletico incoming.Manchester United spending crazy, almost €90 million for Sancho and €50 million to sign Varane. And they want Trippier but Atlético is asking for €40 million and they are not lowering a single euro.Tweet

Lack of investment in infrastructure.how can you be upset about United’s business so far?
Looks a damn sight more appealing than what Barcelona and Madrid are going through. If we can bring in players who will improve our first team and offset the investment by moving on players who don't want to be here (Pogba) or are just squad players (Lingard, James, Williams etc) then its good business practice. And by all accounts it seems that we will go for a DM and right back if we move enough players on so to me this would be an excellent window regardless of the net outlay.Glazernomics.

I'd say non-domestic rivals who can afford Pogba or DDG's fee and wages is down to the one.. PSG.Pogba, DDG and Lingard out. Trippier and a new CM in. Job done.
That's a bit weird, isn't it? What if he gets injured in training?Tweet

I can only assume we thought he'd be available around 15m... especially with the rumours he wants to come back to the UK. The links were much stronger around the Euros, but it's all gone a bit quiet on it. There's no way we'll pay big money for him.I'm still not sure sure why we are so interested in a backup right back who will turn 31 in 2 months time. Especially when a significant fee would be involved
Depending on how good the relations between both sides are there is probably either a gentlemen's agreement or some contractual agreement that would prevent Dortmund from backing out. That's a bit weird, isn't it? What if he gets injured in training?
I’m sure that’ll come in time, patience! Feck sake.Lack of investment in infrastructure.

Hopefully this is worded correctly, in that we would like a DM, and in the event of Pogba leaving, we also want a replacement for him. What I don’t want is Pogba out and replaced with a DM. We need a DM even if Pogba stays, and if he goes, then we need an 8 too.Tweet

from the articleThe United manager would like a defensive midfielder and the club has a firm interest in Trippier, the England right-back. United have also been sounding out potential midfield replacements for Pogba.
Good news.Yeah it's worded right
from the article
Looking at this, Ole would love to sell Lingard and Dalot for good prices so that he can buy his DM and RB. I don't see any of our existing player getting any good fee (apart from Pogba of course).Yeah it's worded right

Ducker is a little confusing for me.Yeah it's worded right

Yeah this is vital. We don't want a threadbare midfield after having a positive summer in other areas, imo it will largely limit the impact of our new signings.Hopefully this is worded correctly, in that we would like a DM, and in the event of Pogba leaving, we also want a replacement for him. the most encouraging thing about this transfer window is as follows...we buy/target players that improve our week areas, have the right mentality, we get at the right price....basically we make sensible decision this summer...who would have thought....hiring football people to run a football club makes more sense than putting a banker at the helmTweet

Maybe the club believe they can sell more squad players than that and for decent money. They'll also likely work just off the guaranteed fees this summer rather than the total amount a transfer is worthDucker is a little confusing for me.
Says we want a net spend of £75-100m. Let's say £100m for the top range.
£106m is already spent on Sancho and (hopefully) Varane - £6m at least in the red then. And he says any further signings are dependent on sales, which tallies up, fair enough.
But even if we sell Pogba for our supposed asking price of £50m and Lingard for £20m, that means we would have £64m to spend to keep our net spend at £100m.
£64m and he says we'd be looking at Trippier, a DM and a Pogba replacement with that. Rice alone would probably cost that. Seems ambitious.
Don't think it'd be Rice and not sure it reads as the Pogba replacement being part of the net spend idea, think him out/replacement in would be after that. Article also mentions loan fees so we'd probably hope to be looking at around £40m at least from Lingard, Dalot, Williams, Pereira, Tuanzebe, Pellistri if a few go permanent and the others on loan. It's been said we don't want to spend more than €20m on Trippier so would leave us with around £25m for a midfielder which I don't think is too unreasonable as I don't think it'd be a main midfield signing, think a "main" one is more likely to be the Pogba replacement.Ducker is a little confusing for me.

Doesn't look like any top sides really want or need DDG. And I doubt we'd get a remotely reasonable offer for Lingard even after his loan performances at West Ham.Pogba, DDG and Lingard out. Trippier and a new CM in. Job done.
