Great guy.. tells it like it is.
Hmm... well, Wenger has destroyed Arsenal's legacy of 'hardness' with his increasingly soft teams. Arsenal are historically a 'tough' team, long before Wenger, or even the Premier League's inception. Even during Wenger's early tenure, when they still had players he hadn't recruited, they were one of the 'hardest' and most psychologically intimidating teams to play in the land - the running joke they have become as a soft team is a very new thing relative to the history of the club. What makes it even worse/funny is neanderthals like Keown have to watch and commentate on a club that is almost unrecognisable to them by now. Some refreshing honesty, even to do with giving his son some needle about supporting Arsenal.
Is it not cultural though? Aren't the city lads usually seen as "fake hard"? I've always seen United as the real deal type of team, hard northen battle-born warriors ready to battle if their skill doesn't get them over the line their fight will. Arsenal have always been the team in my mind that was "fake hard" (except that invincibles team who were the real deal).
It was a similar thing growing up playing Rugby. All of the north shore and city boys that play rugby are all 'fake hard', rich daddy's boys who grew up with the world given to them on a platter. I grew up in the rough areas and was always up for anything in a game. I get the sense it is a similar "poser" mentality undercurrent here, but I could just be projecting on it.
Hmm...in those circumstances does he not see the opponent as matching up in the 'real man' department (did he say real man or is that your wording?) and superior in the technical department so they overcome Watford. The guy is an idiot - seems like everyone has forgotten that he said exactly the same thing about us when they beat us 3-1 last season. They were real men and we weren't.
Everytime Watford win a football-game, they are real men. What does that make them when they don't win ? Which was most of the time last season.

Deeney has basically sublimated his previous criminality onto the pitch, ergo, he would still be a problem to society if he wasn't a footballer. He's what lower league players call a shrub rocketeer.
Deeney is certainly the bozz bozz.I would rather he was a small bean regarder in the legal game than a two-pinned-in plug in the illegal underworld. Certainly left Arsenal quadraspazzed on a lifeglug.
They certainly have their uses against sides like Arsenal who don't generally like physical aspects of football.Luckily under Silva he is reduced to a squad role. Lumps like him rarely have uses for a side actually aiming for something higher than a survival scrap
I mean, it was, wasn’t it? Hur-durr Arsenal are softies, the little old teams never get decisions so it’s good we did today, [insert player from smaller side] I’m not as cute or clever but I’m bloody strong I amRefreshing to watch the video. Not your usual cliches.

Harsh on him. He himself has just given a very good assessment of his strengths and failings and you still feel the need to call him a lump? Pathetic reallyLuckily under Silva he is reduced to a squad role. Lumps like him rarely have uses for a side actually aiming for something higher than a survival scrap
I gave an even more accurate assessment.Harsh on him. He himself has just given a very good assessment of his strengths and failings and you still feel the need to call him a lump? Pathetic really
Every team, fan and player complains of their team not getting decisions. Arsenal being softies has been doing the rounds since United beat Arsenals' so-called invincibles by roughing them up. Anyway, we're all different. I quite liked the segment. Better than watching Merson and Souness.I mean, it was, wasn’t it? Like someone else said, he also made comments like this when they beat us. I’m really not sure what’s so refreshing or awe worthy of what he’s said.
what absolute bollocks. You have to love everyone rah-rah'ing the "get stuck up in 'em" mantra. Where was this when they got piped by City for 6?

You could have posted this video in our threadDude chill, you guys will be just fine. Top 6 is the least. You guys were pretty unlucky.
Yeah but when it happens vs Asnl its funny. The guy is an idiot - seems like everyone has forgotten that he said exactly the same thing about us when they beat us 3-1 last season. They were real men and we weren't.

Don't be silly, he's just saying if you don't compete physically your football must be exceptional and Arsenal's just isn't. City's isThat is bollocks. You can't be technical unless you have 100% execution?
It would be hilarious if this was the opinion of a few people, not the viewpoint of the majority of English football.
Yup. This thread wouldn't exist if Arse took all their numerous chances. Especially in the first half.
Aye, it's slightly more entertaining than the generic media training bollocks that bores everyone to tears. But tbh, he's just come out with a different set of cliches, like @DWelbz19 pointed out.At least it's more interesting to listen to than a generic interview where they say the same cliche ridden bullshit. Wish more players would forget what they learnt at media training and just tell it like it is.

I think his point is that if you are going to rely on that style without putting in the requisite graft (something the old Arsenal did very well,) then you better be damn near perfect in doing so (something the new Arsenal does not do.) How a team with Arsenal's aspirations can include the likes of Ozil and Xhaka, I'll never understand. That is bollocks. You can't be technical unless you have 100% execution?

Roughing up arsenal is the way to beat them. Has been for years
Deeney is refreshingly honest
Exactly, especially in the PL.
Mourinho has gone about it at United the other way, physically build a squad then look at the technical side.
Some refreshing honesty, even to do with giving his son some needle about supporting Arsenal.

My mate met him at the Atlantis Palm Dubai at the end of May, totally brilliant with his kids allowed them photo's and autographs even though he was relaxing at the time.
Same time he met Jamie Vardy in the waterpark connected to the hotel, told him he doesn't do photo's with people whilst he's on holiday. Refused two kids.
Deeney comes across a proper decent guy, no doubt a nasty bastard if provoked but a decent lad all the same. Spoke complete sense in that interview as well, Arsenal are complete pussies and are picking up their pay cheques.
