Yeah, that is true, but he also said he held out hope that they would be able to get the rights, or at least some of the characters involved in SOtL and get them in Hannibal. He would work around if he had to, but he would have preferred not to. I'm still hopeful for another season.

A simple Google should put your mind at ease in that department. It's been almost universally slated across the board. Hell I just googled Mr Robot to see what you were all on about and the first 2 articles were 'why Mr Robot succeeds where True Detective fails' and 'what true detective could learn from Mr robot'
Also I don't really agree that criticism = moaning. The trouble is people in these threads rarely justify why they like something. It seems acceptable to just come in pick out a negative post and say "I don't agree, I thought it was excellent" without really explaining why. On the other hand people that dislike something tend to go a lot further to explain why and therefore their posts might come across as nit picking and moaning.
Fwiw I hope there's a season 3 and I hope they get the original director on board and recapture some of the magic that the first half of season 1 had. I'm sceptical that the writing will ever deliver though based on the evidence before me.
The title is a complete misnomer for starters as both seasons set up a mystery that was solved by a light bulb moment from a central character and very little detective work.
And one common theme that annoys me about the crowd that get offended by all the criticism is "you can't compare it to the first season... it's a different story... Blah blah blah"

How is a Google search going to tell me what the average person thinks? Unless you think everybody resides on the net like some of us do. Also, people tend to complain more than they tend to praise, never mind those that were satisfied and don't feel the urge to let everyone know about it. It's just the way of things in the Internet age.
The closest we'll get are ratings and we'll have to leave it a while before we can look much into those...

What would be the point? Now that you've asked me I can't think of anything I disliked... as for what did I like? Generally all of it. The characters and the story were fine, VV and CF were great. What can I say? I liked it... even when it dipped it was still as entertaining as any filler episode in any other show, Hannibal and Mr Robot included... opinions ehAh c'mon, now you're being defensive.

Only with the last 3 episodes. People were spanking over it after the first 5. Me especially. Then green ears happened...
See I'd say I found the characters to be cliche and unengaging (do you think the character of Woodruff added anything to the show at all?), I thought Farrells gruff voice was unintentionally hilarious, Vaughan was awful but tbf was saddled with some of the most ridiculous lines in TV history.... "blue balls of the heart", "never do anything out of hunger" (there seemed to be at least one of these every week) and the plot was ridiculously over complicated and unwieldy.
But yeah opinions.

Quite. I must admit when I changed my expectations after the first couple of episodes I started to enjoy it on a whole different level.
My favorite Frank line or rather delivery from Vaughan was "don't you feckin shoot me Raymond".
I was kind of warming to this in the previous few episodes but feck me that final episode was lame. I mean, it did a much better job of tying up all the detective work than season one but everything else about it sucked balls.
From key characters making staggeringly stupid decisions, silly plot contrivances and badly acted emotionally over-wrought and just fecking loooooooong scenes where various people talked utter bollox to each other... I mean, it had the lot. What it didn't have, was my full attention. 90 minutes long and somehow felt like 120. So much happened yet at least half of it bored my tits off. Amazing.
So yeah, taking the season as a whole It was just a bit cack. Colin Farrell was good though. As were two, maybe three episodes overall. Definitelt not worth watching the whole series, for anyone considering that, don't bother.

That was a great line. His best line by far. All the other good lines were good because they were unintentionally funny. Basically good by accident.

I agree and the bleak ending was a nice change. Season 1 was entertaining to watch because of the 2 main characters but the plot went nowhere and it all fizzled out.
So, just finished it.
The finale was ok. The 'love story' that came out of nowhere was ridiculous. I did like the bitter sweet endings for the characters though. Overall, this series was cack though. The first 30 minutes was just cliche after cliche. It was tedious. I strangely liked the meta-physical aspects of the show. CF's voice/accent was so jarring, as well.
Overall, 4/10.

There are certainly worse ways to spend your time than watching Season 2. It was a far cry from Season 1, but it was decent television. For people who say "Don't bother wasting your time watching this", you must watch very little TV because it's not like networks are firing out shows that far exceed this in terms of quality.

The last 2 episodes were good relative to the rest of the season. I quite liked the finale, in fact.
Just got round to watching the finale. Actually quite enjoyed it. Since it was the finale and everything was on the line, it moved at a decent pace and managed to be fairly entertaining, a bit like the second final episode.
There's still plenty to complain about: some of the dialogue was still terrible, and a lot of it felt heavy-handed. Velcoro being killed with the failed voicemail and the reveal that his kid was his was enough to make it sad; giving him another child felt a bit unnecessary to make us feel even sadder. Vaughn's hallucinations before his death all felt a bit unnecessary too, like "he's a bad guy, but this is why you should feel sorry for him", type of thing.
Still, Farrell gave a good performance overall and I'd say he was the best of the cast. Vaughn's the only one who I'll maintain was very poor.

I still really enjoyed this season. Is it the first season? No. It was never going to be. But still very good in it's own right with great moments. Last 3 episodes in particular are very strong I thought.
Best part of the show is the opening credits. Having said that i did kinda enjoy it. Not as good as season 1 but not terrible either. If you're getting such big name actors I'd say they basically hit par or 1 under if I'm being generous.

I keep going back to the doctor's visit with Farrell where the doc asks him if he actually wants to live.
A bit too blatant in the foreshadowing...
The titles for both series are better than the show itself. Made here in Sydney.
You'll love season 1. Leave it at that.
Season 1 was great. Season 2 not so much IMO.
Season 1 is brilliant. Abrupt ending, but all in all it was one of the best shows if watched.
Just finished season 2. It was alright up until the final 2 episodes, it just went flat. all go and action but just didn't feel satisfying for some reason. thought they'd go into Woodroughs army past a bit more also. Couldn't connect much with any character, I suppose they kept the same concept from season 1 with giving you just enough to understand Rust and Marty, but left a lot open to the imagination.
All in all it was like chalk and cheese comparing the 2 series.
Season 1 is half a great season but in retrospect it was a bit overrated given how badly it failed to follow through on what it set up. Season 2 is more consistent throughout but also much worse. Overall it's an overhyped TV show.

Yeah, though i think most would actually agree with your assessment of season 1 - but the reason it was so highly rated was because of the performances from the lead cast. Most would agree that the second half of the season wasn't half as good as the first half, but the performances and chemistry between the 2 leads maintained it's quality throughout.
I think that's pretty much spot on.
