If we look at how the Herrera deal played out, we knew nothing until he was virtually about to fly to Manchester to complete the deal. All these transfer sagas that are splashed all over front or back pages of the foreign press proclaiming one side or another is 'leading the race', need to be taken with a huge handful of salt.

I'm off today, a weekday, which you will understand automatically makes me bored as hell. I have skimmed through the last 5 or 6 pages of this thread and we have been linked to about 5 different players, all of whom would cost about £40m plus.

Is it fair to say that nobody really knows what the hell is going on?! Like when we were on the brink of signing Ander Herrera out of nowhere and even the reliable journo's were scratching their heads.

I don't know Italian, but I got a translation of sorts: a literal translation not a translation in correct English. He's aware of United's interest along with Chelsea and Arsenal. United is proving more of an interest than the other two English clubs, and United have been in contact with Juventus. Juve's message though, is " not for sale".

TURIN - You finished the World Cup in Chile has begun on the Chilean market. Until the last penalty of the cruel challenge with Brazil, Arturo Vidal thought, rightly, only to dream of the Cup.Now think equally correct to the holidays, but inevitably also its future. And from Brazil, before flying to Chile, sends a message: " Now I will go a little 'holiday, I need to relax with the family, so come back stronger than before . " And the big question if it can reassure the fans of Juventus, King Arthur allontandandosi laughs and says: "No. .. Do not worry, do not worry!» . What?Hypothesis one: there is no need to reassure anyone, I go on vacation and come back at the disposal of the Count before the end of July. Hypothesis Two: do not make me say things that I might have to disown before the end of July. At the current state of affairs seems to be a more credible the first wire and this bounces more or less entourage of the player, who has renewed his contract with Juventus and seems serious about meeting its Commitment. But you can not rule out anything, because the situation around Vidal is more fluid than ever. ASSAULT ENGLISH - For example, they returned to the office and the British in particular Manchester United. Yes, it is true there is also the Chelsea and, he says, also Arsenal. But United is the team that is proving more interest to the player through direct and indirect contacts with Juventus.Contacts. What is different offerings. And the difference is all in an official document (an email would suffice), in which the potential buyer advances an official offer. By the time the offer came. Neither Manchester nor by Real Madrid, who nurtures ambitions as standard on the Chilean nor Bayern Monaco, who has returned to staking. And so to Juventus continue to be considered a player Vidal "not for sale"and even less "outgoing" . The same think Antonio Conte, who - at the last summit of the market, dating back to last Thursday - has been guaranteed that neither Chilean nor Pogba are about to leave Juventus. TEMPTATION - But if the offer came? Obviously depends on the offer. In dealing room of the painful sacrifices that the market could take at Juventus and his fans, Vidal has passed Pogba. As if to say, if the United or Real Madrid were to arrive with sixty million Euros, and the Bianconeri midfielder could take at least two could finance large purchases with its sale, as well as place a maxi plusavalenza of almost fifty million. A situation known, even before the World Cup, but now it becomes hotter than ever, since the World Cup, Vidal, is over. SHOT to restrain him - Who wants the Chilean, now, can move with Juventus and with ' agent. There are no more obstacles now: Vidal, or whoever, and Marotta are willing to listen. Provided that the offer is enough to buy a worthy replacement for the Chilean (and it will be tough ...), advancing money to invest in another major blow. This is the indispensable condition for the sale of Vidal. Otherwise Juventus if he keeps it, maybe even at the cost of having to give up a big purchase, because Vidal retain, in the present scenario of Italian football, it would be a hit as input. THOUGHTS WARRIORS - Meanwhile, the Chilean disposing of the disappointment of Belo Horizonte program and the rematch: "It 'so hard when you are eliminated. It was a dream, a dream for which we fought with all my heart and contutte our energies. Yes, we thought: call us crazy, but we thought davevro to have a chance of eliminating Brazil from the World Cup. And in the end we came close ... Unfortunately, the dream has not been realized despite the struggle. But all this will make me stronger and are ready for new challenges " . And Juventus certainly not lacking ...

45€ in this market for such a player is a no-brainer. The question is would he want to come here? He is not exactly young and he might not want to spend a year without CL.

https://twitter.com/corrienationstr and https://twitter.com/712insider

The corrienationstr account was mentioned in the newbs as being good during the Mata transfer in January, I've followed them since then and they seemed to know about the Shaw deal long before anyone else and even said Friday would be the day it would be done.

Could have just been extremely lucky guess work, they knew sweet FA about the Herrera deal, and were then seemingly passing off the Inigo Markinez tweets as their own after he had tweeted them.

I wouldn't normally follow such an account but they have been pretty accurate, only way to tell is to follow them for the rest of the summer in my eyes.

And for the record, I will not be posting their tweets in this thread because at the moment I still have a feeling they are along the lines of an IndyKaila account, but the shit they've been throwing has been sticking so far (apart from Ander obviously).
Sceptisism is good in the twitter world but there are som decent ones aswell.

I get the feeling that this Vidal saga will go on well into August. I just hope our essential business done by then (well basically an experienced CB).

45 million is the sum to start talking about a transfer. 50-60 million € and i am pretty sure they would sell him. We are still far, but never were so close to a Vidal transfer.

You can be concerned without propagating a myth about how great Chelsea are in the market. That's what grates and why people have every right to point it out.

Forums are for discussion, as opposed to what individuals like and don't like. Those that insist in discussing how much the club should pay for a player is far more annoying to me, but I don't expect them to desist from expressing their view. You either believe in free speech for all or you don't. The moderators decide what is suitable, not the forum Police.

For me, rarely do clubs end up buying players they have been linked with all summer, I'm not saying never, but it's quite rare, especially in these days of constant ITK twatter bollocks.

Harrera, and to an extent Shaw, because it went pretty quiet for several weeks, took us all a bit by surprise by the speed at which they were wrapped up.

I doubt we are any more likely to sign Vidal than anyone else, unfortunately, but if Holland (and Van Gaal), keep progressing in the World Cup, I would imagine that it would make United more attractive to the top players, CL or not.

Yes, its tuttosport! they are the most reliable newspaper regarding juve. Effectively the mouthpeice of juve. They ran with pogba to juve stories month before it was done.
I'm no Italian expert but tried to translate a few bits and I can't see where it says he prefers United to Madrid. It just says of the English teams we are the most serious about making an offer. It also mentions Madrid, Chelsea, Arsenal, Bayern and Monaco. There is also something along the lines of Conte has been guaranteed neither Vidal or Pogba will be sold but they could be tempted with an offer of 60 million from United or Madrid.

This is what I think. Everything shows so far that we made our decisions early and executed quickly. The only delay was with Shaw because he was at the World Cup. It's why I doubt we're going to sign anyone based on their performance in Brazil, no matter how impressive they were. I think that all our transfer targets have been known to Woodward since before the World Cup started and what's been happening have been negotiations behind the scenes that we won't find out about until it's nearly done, just like the Herrera deal.

Everything else of linking United to whomever has a decent world cup, is just typical tabloid fodder. Neither of our two signings played any part in the WC whatsoever, one didn't even go.

I'm not sure if he is saying that or saying that United are showing stronger interest than the other clubs. It could be a mix of both, Vidal prefers United to Chelsea or Arsenal and United are showing stronger interest than Madrid or Bayern.

Daniel Taylor pretty much said so himself. It doesn't mean all reports are wrong, because the press in Spain or Italy would be getting their information from their local clubs or the agents, but that information could easily be false. Last summer is, indeed, dead.

The correct translation is this
  • Vidal has not confirmed he will stay at juve, he is now going on a small holiday
  • They give two hypothesis why vidal hasnt confirmed anything(either he does not want to make fake promises or there is actually nothing to worry about)
  • Then they mention united interest along with arsenal, madrid and bayern munich(they refer to Them as bayern monaco)
  • They say either pogba and vidal could be sold to make new big purchases. Pogba is the one they prefer to keep and vidal could go if enough money is offered, they are looking for 50/60 million euros( i think 60 million is mentioned for pogba).
  • Conte was promised that vidal wont be sold, but juve and moratta(whoever that is?) could be willing to listen to offers for vidal if enough is offered to find a replacement or two.

Sanchez and Vidal could easily have been targets before the world cup though. You are right. but that applies more to players like James Rodriguez or Hector Herrera.

No-one ever really knows what is going on. I mean, who saw the Herrera transfer coming? It was so out of the blue.

Agreed, I'm thoroughly enjoying this though as it's quite exciting to not know who you might sign and who you might not.

Yeah and for the first time in a good few years you actually believe united are in contention for these players.

I remember when hazard wasto announce his future I just knew it wasn't us because we wouldn't spend the money. We seem to be a bit more willing to open the purse strings this year so most of the names mentioned are realistic targets (once we're willing to drop a shit load of money to get them). The appointment of LVG seems to be making up for the lack of CL football.

I can back this up too, The first guy Corrie bloke ive been following since last summer. So far he has called more right than wrong, for instance RVP was reported by him a good week or so before the Mirror picked it up, Mata they called about 2 weeks before hand. They have had the Shaw deal since before the Southampton game and he was saying thats when we lodged our bid not only that he actually gave the exact figure of 27m rising to 31.5.

I agree there is a lot of special cases out there with false accounts but to me this guy is better than any paper or other reliable journos, he calls alot. He also said Moyes was to be sacked imminently, also called the new Nani deal as well as our interest in Kroos which interestingly he recently said hes heard we still have a deal in place.

Im not saying everyone should follow and believe him but he has been the most accurate Twitter account so far out of these ITK types.

The Hazard transfer was painful. But you're right, we finally seem willing to actually pay and I think a lot of that is down to Woodward, I don't think he likes being pipped by a few million so I don't think he's scared to pay that extra bit. And he seems to want to splash out on a marquee signing so shows he isn't afraid to spend big either!

My opinion of Woodward is changing also, Mittens quotes fill me with hope. He said "Woodward is the kind of guy to waltz into a casino and put a million straight on red".
Makes it sound like he doesn't like to lose deals.

I dont.

I'd rather have us take Vidal and Kroos.
We just bought Herrara so I don't see us buying a 3rd CM if we get Vidal, plus we could use some extra quality in attack given how poor our wide men have been for some time.

Poor old Luis, forced to admit he was at fault (as he never does) or he doesn't get his move away from Pool for a 2nd year.
