If we're really interested in Cavani, we better make sure his last injury won't affect his ability to get back playing the way he used to at Napoli and earlier in his PSG career. Cavani right now is bad, really bad.

By "real fans", I think he's talking more about people who dont pay a fee to fly a plane over the ground with negative messages on it and more like the fans who wouldn't boo him, even if they felt he should be removed from his position (and there were a lot). I certainly dont feel it was any kind of dig at the supporters. He's retained his integrity throughout this whole thing. He's got my respected. Hope he does well in his next job.

All he had to do was remove the word real from his sentence and it would not be a talking point. He's being a dick and still has his head buried in the sand with regards the job he was doing.

It shouldn't be anyway.

People are just being oversensitive and still feel some kind of need to give him a shit even though he's got no affiliations to our club for nearly a week.

Have to say i agree mentioning 'Real' fans may have just been a poor choice of words or it might have been a dig at the fans, either way it was unnecessary. But its another example of how poorly he chooses his words, no doubt most of what he said was over analyzed but the the same time he doesn't do himself any favours in this regard.

I wonder will he be texting a thank you message to the editor of red issue to pass on also?

If we get Fabregas, play Mata in a central role, turn Januzaj into a regular and get either Rooney/Van Persie to their best we are walking the league.

Can't see how you fit in Cavani, unless you move Mata and Rooney both back into a midfield 3.

This Summer and next season are going to be absolutely nuts.

So glad he is gone, even his text messages annoy me. "Real" fans! Why not just write "Fans" or "matchgoing fans"? Who the hell is he to decide anyway who is a real fan and who not? #topred

Why the hell are we after cavani? Would be a terrible signing. Arguably as big if a waste of money as fellaini is. There's definitely more of a chance of getting fabregas this summer but given the choice I think he'd definitely go to arsenal, especially with them having champions league football unlike united.

No he isn't. Why would he thank all United fans? It was United fans who paid for that plane with the "Moyes Out" banner on it, that the whole paying stadium of 70,000 booed. Fans who take it to that extreme and spend money on something so negative that doesn't help the club aren't real fans and therefor dont deserve his thanks. I totally get what he's saying and I'm glad he's said it. In fact that plane banner did nothing but embarrass the club.

If you think the 70000 people in Old Trafford were behind Moyes then you're out of your mind. A few idiots took it too far but even those people more than likely supported him until patience snapped. What makes a real fan? If the people who organised the plane are part of the match going support are they not real fans?

Double, people are saying anything from £50-60m.

If he wants to leave to play as the main striker again, and we get Van Gaal playing a 4-3-3, is our team going to look something like this next season?

De Gea
Rafael Jones Smalling Shaw
Carvalho
Mata Kagawa
RVP Cavani Rooney
Just a thought. :houllier:

Rvp will be the main striker under van gaal, but it's just stupid. One of our problems is too many strikers, and our squad being top heavy quality wise and the back 6 pretty much not being good enough this season (Rafael is good enough IMO though). Why would we further strengthen the attack?

I never said 70,000 people were behind in. In fact in my previous post I actually stated they weren't.

To have enough money to waste on a plane flying over the ground doesn't tell me they are real fans. More like attention seeking dribblers who think they are above the average fan by trying to speak for all of us.

What does how much money they have to waste got to do with it? Are you not doing the same by telling us what makes a real fan? He shouldn't have said it. He got a lot more support than he deserved or would've got elsewhere. Fans snapping and doing something stupid doesn't make them not real fans when you haven't a clue about them.

No idea! I'm just trying to imagine how on earth we fit RVP, Rooney and Cavani into the same team.

I've got a feeling and a hope that it will be just like Falcao rumours between January and June last year, and it will be complete nonsense.

Only difference is this time I'll be glad when it turns out to be nonsense, don't really rate Cavani at the moment to be honest.

Moyes should have left out the "real" part as it comes off like he's saying he doesn't see fans that thought he should be sacked as real fans, which just adds to his constant media faux pas.

Don't want Cavani or Fabregas, sounds like journo muppetry.

That is so ridiculous it made my eyes bleed. Two strikers on the wing and two "in the hole no 10's" in central attacking midfield

Yeah nothing wrong with what Moyes had to say. We could have won the league by 20 points and it wouldnt change the fact we attract some people who think of themselves as "fans" but really are gloryhunting kneejerkers. Some people didnt even give Moyes a chance. It doesnt change that he did an awful job

Moyes is nothing to do with Manchester United now and should never have been, he doesn't decide who's a real fan.

I honestly wouldnt be surprised if Rooney left this summer. If he didnt though he would be my odds on favourite to clash with Van Gaal especially if VG wants him to play in a different position.

You people having a pop at Moyes for that text need to wise up. The man is obviously hurting over whats transpired. There is literally NOTHING he could have written that would please everybody.
And the people responding to it are hurting too. He's basically saying those who lost support for him aren't real fans. It's bullshit. He could've come out, thanked everyone for their support and wished us well for the future and that would be that. He deliberately chose not to.

Maybe, We'll have to wait and see I guess.

I genuinely can't see us wasting £50m on another striker anyway, even if Rooney did leave.

Point proven, people will change the context to fit their argument. We do not know what he meant by real fans so how can you judge what he says?
Nonsense, are we saying the poor lamb can't formulate a sentence either? He knew exactly what he was saying.

Here's a sentence that wouldn't have offended anyone:

"Andy. Would you please let it be known how much I appreciated the support I got from the United fans. They were incredible. I am sorry I couldn't give them the results they are all used to. Thanks. D Moyes."

Job done.

What should he thank some nutters on the internet who embarrassed the club by paying for that plane banner?

Should he specifically mention them? Obviously not. Did he need to make such an ambiguous statement? Definitely not. He makes it sound like anyone who didn't think he was right for the job was not a real fan. It was unecessary and doesn't really deserve support. Had he been at any other club he would've been hounded out months ago.

Why do you think he wasn't hounded out sooner at United? Something to do with the types of fans he had supporting him I'd guess.

I would say a lot of it had to do with Utd's previous with Alex Feeguson and the manipulation of the fans when Moyes was appointed. Utd also made a big show of how different they were so to back down even sooner than they have would suggest even more weakness than we are currently.

What types of fans do the other clubs who would have hounded him out sooner have?
