the demography of social media is far more likely to be anyone but Tories. You don’t see too many 65 year olds on Twitter - they will all be in bed by now!
furthermore, it’s the old adage if you have a bad experience you tell 10 people, if you have a good experience you only tell one. So for those who feel they have ‘lost’ tonight, they are far more likely to be posting about it than those who feel they have ‘won’.

Tory gains in Labour heartlands could change the direction of Tory policy. If they want honour the faith shown in them by folk who have voted labour all their lives they will need to move to the left and strengthen their social policies.

Social media is a bubble, in many ways, and really, so is most of the internet. The most active internet users are generally younger than the average, more urban than the average, have higher educatiin than average - these are all decent predictors of left-leaning political views.
