He's only been at Celtic for six months, I think he should stay another 1 or 2 seasons before making a move and it may be better for him if he moves to a solid mid-table side in a strong league where he gets to play football on a regular basis instead of jumping straight into one of the big guns. Ki was excellent for Celtic yet he hasn't exactly set the world alight at Swansea so far, admittedly Laudrup is taking his time adapting him into that team.
I bow to your evidently superior knowledge.

Wanyama should average more than that in the SPL. Hell, even Tiote averages more in the PL/Europa league.
Tiote makes a lot of passes. Just because he does, De Jong does, etc. doesnt mean Wanyama does. However if there is a stat to show that Wanyama is making that many passes even just in the SPL, its more reassuring than just assuming he can/will play that many passes. Because you know... Its reality.

He averages 28 IIRC in CL in their hoofball park the bus strategy. Think he should be over 40 when they have majority of possesion.

Can't find a crediblish site that keeps SPL stats though.

Wanyama is now fully aware of SAF's attention so we'll see how his game will evolve through 2nd half of the season.

The possiblity is quite real.

Let me get this straight; It doesn't matter what he does in the SPL and it doesn't really matter what he did v Barcelona because they apparently weren't trying or because they dominated possession? He isn't Xavi guys. If you're wanting to see if he can complete 400 passes in a row then dream on. He's a decent passer though his technical game is improving every week. Massive strides have been made in his game since the start of the season.

For what it's worth, if you want to see how he is with the ball why don't you just look at his performances in the SPL? It may be a shit league but the midfielder's are just hatchet man who'll look to foul at every single opportunity so it's not exactly a stroll in the park either. It's still tough. His performances away to Spartak Moscow and at home to Benfica are also irrelevant I assume, because, well... they just are.

Wanyama's been here for almost 2 full seasons now. He signed in the summer of 2011 I think. To be fair, I liked Ki but he was like 4th choice centre mid here due to the style Lennon likes in the middle of the park. I think he'll do well at Swansea and wish we'd kept him.
Get the feck, Pink Moon. You have obviously actually watched the guy. You appear to have misunderstood the rules. Only those of us who have never seen more than highlights are allowed debate his worthiness for United. Don't let it happen again.

I don't really have a clue about Celtic. I just think a natural step up from playing in SPL should be joining a team in a stronger league which is going to play you week in week out, not necessarily the strongest team that comes after a player.

Ki's starting to do very well for Swansea IMO. Played very well vs the renties.

And I think Wanyama looks a class above.

Ki is a tidy player for me but not a decisive one. He doesn't impress me greatly.

Same here. I've always thought these African footballers bring with them lots of power and athleticism, something I think we need at times in our midfield. Obviously he has to be good at football as well else he'll end up being the next Djemba twins.
Yeah Mido certainly brought that.

VICTOR Wanyama will move to the English Premier League this month, according to his own FA’s president.

The Celtic midfielder has been strongly linked with a move to either Arsenal or Manchester United in the January transfer window after a barnstorming season for Neil Lennon’s side. Celtic have made it clear, though, that they don’t want to sell him, especially with the Champions League showdown with Juventus coming up next month.

Wanyama will join up with Kenya next week for a friendly international against Libya, to be played in Tunisia for security reasons. And Kenyan FA president, Sam Nyamweya, delivering a speech in Nairobi, reckons Wanyama will quit Celtic “soon”.

He said: “Wanyama will soon be joining one of the big two clubs in the world. It is an exciting moment for us, which means that Kenya is a powerhouse in football.”

Wanyama, 21, has been priced at anything up to £10 million. Celtic paid £900,000 to Belgian side Germinal Beerschot for him in 2011.

Until very recently I'd barely watched him, and was very sceptical. But he does seem like he might be the real deal. Obviously his defensive work and work rate are impeccable, but he also seems to have a real quality of passing and decision making to go along with them, which is really the crucial thing for a DM aiming to join a top club. And only 21!

From the matches I've seen, Anderson-esque. Quite broad and looks like he shouldn't move too well, but he's actually fairly agile. Not the fastest, but has that ability to drive forwards powerfully.

How is his mobility? He seems quite bulky
Not bad at all, he's certainly not slow. Would certainly benefit from playing alongside Carrick IMO as I do find he wastes energy at times by pressuring the ball in areas it's not needed.

Sounds like a good prospect. I think we have room for a specialist defensive midfielder who is able to deal with more physical/aerial threats, and has the mobility to help out when our fullbacks are pushing forward. Phil Jones can do a job there but if Wanyama is as good as people are saying he could improve our squad.

I am confused. The headline doesn't match the quotes at all.

Indeed. Unless the Kenyans don't get La Liga, the top two sides, currently, aren't considered to be in the English Premier League. "Big two" could mean about 5 clubs really. But in either definition, Arsenal wouldn't be one of them.

Well Celtic are going to make a good profit out of him. At least 10 times what they paid for him? He has impressed me whenever I've seen him play. But Fergie might think twice because of the ACN.

I think he meant it more as in 'two of the big clubs', rather than 'THE two big clubs.' At least, it would make more sense if he did. In reputation at least, Arsenal are still a big European club.

I don't see this happening, anyway. I think it'd be a good move - he's not the sort of quality that should improve us, but we have a big gap in our squad for a proper DM, as understudy to Carrick and support for/an alternative to him when we need a more defensive line-up, so he would improve us. But as noted above Fergie didn't go for Dembele, and has shown no signs of particular interest in Wanyama. Plus he prefers to avoid African players where possible because of the ACN.

Agree would improve the squad as cover for Carrick but not the starting 11 or a midfield of Cleverley and Anderson. Understudy to Carrick possibly but think we should be aiming higher and looking for a player to play along side Carrick and let Cleverley or Anderson come in and partner them when Carrick is not picked. So if we bought a first 11 and also him as a potential I'd be happy as he is a very decent player a bit like Tiote of Newcastle but less imposing but better on the ball also younger and imo more potential to really improve.
