It's frankly hard to evaluate how good he is or how good he can be. It's annoying Napoli paid so much to sign Osimhen in the first instance. He's a player far more suitable for what we want to do here but the financials involved to get it done would be insane, especially if they want us to pay the bulk of Ronaldo's wages.

There's literally 0 benefit for them in a loan with no obligation unless we pay a crazy stupid loan fee + his full salary.

They're not looking to improve a player in a loan arrangement, they might be considering selling him for 'feck you money'.
If it doesnt work (and no obligation) we just ruined their product nobody is touching him at that value again.

I completely agree. I know there are some people adamant that he isn't good enough (I'm sure they all have legitimate reasons for believing this), but having watched how we have played, in pre-season and our first 4 games, he fits the profile of player we need at #9 to a tee. Young, works hard, scores goals, good with his back to goal, good in the air, quick. Maybe there is an abundance of players who match this profile that I'm unaware of, but I'd struggle to name any that don't currently play for one of our rivals.

I don't think this deal happens, because it honestly feels like it would be too good to be true. We get a player that fits our needs with the fee deferred for a year, while solving the Ronaldo problem, which in itself, feels like it's reached addition by subtraction territory.

A friend of mine, who regularly watch the Italian league, describes him as a monster who will battle for every ball with defenders, pacy, is very good in the box, can finish with both feet and is very dangerous in the air. His opinion on the deal is that we will get the better team with Osimhen than Napoli with Ronaldo. Basically, the same opinion I have about him but he watched a lot more Napoli games. There’s surely no way this happens but Osimhen is probably the player I’d want most as a striker. His play style kind of reminds me of Louis Saha in that he’s very well rounded in all attributes. He’s definitely not as technical or silky as Martial so I think those two battling for our no.9 would be good competition depending on what we needed against a specific opponent - I think they’d actually also make quite a good pair up top.

Absolutely this. Guy is good and i would welcome his signing especially that he seems as ETH's type of forward but nothing screams world class or potential world class around him.
The fact that Napoli overpayed him is their problem. At current market 40-50 mil euros would be his realistic price and i would not mind us paying that. 80 mil-100 mil? Come on
