ThisHe's been pretty poor this season. Certainly not the player he used to be anymore.

We need to stop making excuses and start picking players on form. Evans and Smalling have both had better showings than Vida and Ferdinand this year. Merit should mean something.Jones should've hoofed it clear though. Our central defenders don't hoof when they have to and hoof when they have absolutely no pressure on them.
Exactly, he was MOTM against Shakhtar literally three days agoWhich games has he been poor in apart from today's game?

Don't think many would disagree. Vidic was fantastic vs. Shakhtar. No one came close to him in our team, not even Rafael, who was beaten a couple of times. To say he's poor this season is an overstatement. This was the first game where his all-round performance was shocking. Other than that, he's been very solid.Eh, no he wasn't. That is your opinion, but I think many will disagree.

Rafael was beaten a couple of times, not once, actually. Vidic had more to deal with throughout the game and did so well. Yes, he was culpable for Shakhtar's goal, but he was definitely better. It's irrelevant anyway because even if Vidic wasn't as good as Rafael, it still doesn't mean he's had a poor season. He's been good/very good in most games, with the exception of today's game, where he was mediocre and looked off the pace, which is no surprise, considering he's played two games in a week. What is it with people who can't fathom that ANY fullback will be beaten. Evra is flogged on here for being beaten twice or thrice in the match today. The goal was completely Vidic's fault - no doubt!
Vidic was good against Shaktar, but not outstanding, imo of course.

Evra looks drained of confidence but not surprised given our public courting of Baines wish we'd do our signings the Fergie way!It wasnt completely Vidic's fault. Evras tackle was an embarassment, and Jones should probably have cleared
He had one bad half against Sunderland. Overall he's played well this season.
He is - without doubt. It might be a case of too much changing and chopping. I think Vidic works best when he gets a run of games alongside the same partner. If I were Moyes I'd go for Vidic and Evans this season - and take it from there. I won't pretend I'm not a bit worried, however. With some players it's a matter of knowing when to let them go. Vidic could be in that category. It could - I say could - be beneficial for both him and United with a change of scenery come next summer. We have Evans, Jones and Smalling all waiting in the wings to a lesser or greater degree. If we are to go for what we have, rather than bringing in someone, it might be time to let these lads take over. We have talents coming up as well - Keane not least. Not playing at his best atm, but still our best defender.
Aside from that mistake against Shakhtar he was probably MOTM. Sunderland goal was his fault for sure, but in the second half he sorted himself out and was fine. In short, I think you're overreacting because in general when he has played this season he has been solid.Mistake against Sahtar led to goal, again mistake against Sunderland let to goal, and he seems insecure to me atm, not playing with his well known authority.
I think it's just him slowly getting into the form, once he hit his top gear there's few better than him, that's why I hope this contract thing is false, wouldn't want to see him leave United, not while he has some time left to play on top level.
Same could be said about most of Rio's game this season, but one mistake per game led us all to thinking he is past his best. Not comparing those two, because Vidic clearly looks better this season, but he probably costed us 3 points with that mistake, so no excuses, let's hope he won't do that again.Aside from that mistake against Shakhtar he was probably MOTM. Tevez stirring the pot.
‘Vidic should join Juventus – he’s very suitable for the Italian league,’ said the Argentine striker.
‘He’s very strong and a very good defender. I played with him at United and then against him when I moved to Manchester City.’
