We have a lot of options for the 3 positions.

Sancho, Rashford, Martial, Greenwood, Cavani, Lingard, James, Pogba, Amad, Pellistri…

Any further first team signings we make this window will be defenders or midfielders, so I think it’s safe to look at the options.

I would personally like to see Sancho off the left, Greenwood off the right and then Rashford down the middle.

Fit Rashford, Cavani/NHS Martial, Sancho I believe. I think Mason is a lot more tidy than Rashford in general but honestly don't think he's a better player yet.

To start the season:

Sancho - Cavani - Greenwood

To finish the season:

Rashford - Cavani - Sancho

Sancho-Cavani- Martial or Rashford.
Sancho is 100% our best rw.
Cavani is 100% our best no9.

I have my doubts about lw. I will decide after this season who is better.

I wont believe Sancho is a good RW for us until he plays there and proves it.

Rashford- Cavani - Greenwood

At their peaks i would say it's between Rashford-Martial-Sancho and Sancho-Martial-Greenwood

If we go by consistency it might be Sancho-Cavani-Rashford/Greenwood

If Martial decides he wants to stop embarrassing me on the cafe I’d go Martial LW, Cavani St and Sancho RW.
To end the season I would like for Martial to get back leading the line for us though.

 do you know how many games he has played at RW and been world class?

Even if you believe he's not a great RW, he would be the best LW at the club. Just wait.

We've not really seen Rashford do well down the middle and I'm unsure a lot of people hold a lot of expectation for him to develop into a CF anymore. When on form, he's brilliant on the left anyway.

If the talk about 4-3-3 is real, perhaps Ole wants to play Pogba as one of the midfield 3? And I'd expect Lingard to compete in those positions as opposed to any of the wide berths to be fair.

First choice forwards barring injuries/form:
Rashford - Cavani - Sancho

Could just as well be

Sancho/Pogba - Martial (IF he finds form) - Greenwood

You could argue either one of those combos could be just as good as the other. The potential weak link there being Martial (based on last season). Incidentally, he hasn't been seen in pre-season so if he's not injured, not sure what that means.

My ideal front 3 is the same as you.

Depends on how Rashford comes back after his surgery then he may dislodge Martial at LW. Martial and Greenwood would be backup to Cavani upfront. While Greenwood would be back to Sancho on the RW.

Brilliant thing about the Sancho signing is that with Rashford potentially missing the first 2-3 months of the season, IF Martial is still not up to it, we can always play Sancho at LW and Greenwood can come in at RW and Martial can come off the bench.

To start the season it should be:

LW: Sancho
ST: Cavani
RW: Greenwood

The glaring weakness with the forward line is that Cavani is the only player who can play the role of a CF, leading the line and being a predatory striker….and he’s probably not going to give us more than say, 25 or 30 full games.
Plus, as good as he is when in form, Cavani is just a temporary fix for one more season.
It’s not the natural game for any of the others and before anyone says Greenwood will fill that role, so far he’s not shown any indication of adjusting his movement or play, to even try playing that way.

On paper, we’ve got an abundance of young, attacking flare and quality, but I maintain that we still need to bring in an experienced, out and out striker. Can we afford to wait another season before going into the market?

I don't see how we have many options. It should be Rashford Cavani Sancho with Greenwood as a sub. The others don't really matter, apart from Pogba they can all leave. As for Diallo and Pellistri they are still a mystery, a loan should make us wiser.
Fingers crossed Cavani doesn't get injured, he is vital.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time
If not for the operation, I expect we would have started the season with Rashford-Cavani-Sancho as our first choice. However both Martial and Greenwood would get plenty of chances and ultimately whichever of the five are in best form will play the most and biggest matches.

With Rashford being out, I expect Cavani, Martial, Greenwood and to a lesser extent (in the sense he'd start the most) Sancho to rotate fairly evenly at the beginning of the season. If at least three of those are playing very well Rashford can then be slowly bought back in when he returns, but if not then Rashford will be thrown straight back in with whichever two are playing best.

Pogba is the other interesting one. If he remains I expect Ole will start the season trying, yet again, to fit Pogba into the midfield. If, yet again, that proves to not work then Pogba will join the rotation in the attacking areas and it does become quite a jam in there.

Rashford-Cavani-Sancho when everyone's fit.

Sancho-Cavani-Greenwood to start the season, unless Martial hits the ground running when he's back.

Rashford is going to be injured from surgery I thought?

I'd go for Martial - Greenwood - Sancho as first choice. I feel like we have to back Greenwood as our 9 now. Cavani will get loads of minutes from the bench and I'd probably start him against the super defensive teams who just sit.

With Rashford out it is Sancho-Cavani-Greenwood.

When Marcus returns move Sancho over to the RW.

In a couple of years time it will be Greenwood up front then with those two either side of him.

Rashford Cavani Sancho is our best front line when fit right now

However I would love to see

Sancho-----Greenwood----Amad because I think that might be the future

I want to add Cavani's willingness to press defensively. Martial should take note - he doesn't do it nearly as often as Cavani and it drives me nuts. I also like the athleticism Ed shows over Tony, which is weird, because he's only one inch taller but he plays several inches taller. That said, Tony shows a bit more ground physicality than Ed in holding the ball. It's mostly all a difference in style, and I think Cavani's fits what we do a little better.

We need to find the next Cavani!

If everyone is at their absolute best and 100% fully fit then Sancho, Cavani and Rashford is our best front three with Greenwood and Martial both ready to impact from the bench.

I’m hoping that Martial realises what a joke he was last season and really puts in a shift and if Rashford can finally get over his injury problems from being overused then we’ve got the potential best front line we’ve had post Sir Alex especially with Fernandes and potentially Pogba loading the bullets.

It's obviously Rashford - Cavani - Sancho for now. Most of the season I'd bet we see 1 of the creators on one wing (Sancho, Pogba or Mata), and then a wide forward to run in behind on the other side of the striker. So Rashford or Greenwood for main wide forwards, James deeper depth, Martial if needed but mainly him rotating with Cavani as the central striker. Amad to eventually enter the rotation for the creator side, but unlikely to do much this season.

Main 11 this season (not necessarily for big games though):

Cavani
Rashford Bruno Sancho
Fred Pogba
Shaw Maguire Varane Wan Bissaka
Henderson
Full rotation 11:
Martial
James Van de Beek Greenwood
Matic McTominay
Telles Lindelof Bailly Dalot
De Gea
