What next for Jürgen Klopp?

If we're doing "if it wasn't for Pep and City", then the team second to them would have won the league. Does he want bigger imaginary trophies for winning these imaginary titles by more points? How would he have "cleaned up year after year" if he only even managed second twice?

The Sky narrative of the "Pep vs Klopp era" has been taken hook, line and sinker by a lot of people.
Agree on the first point, disagree on the second. In the end it doesn't matter how many points you got, second is second and you don't get a trophy for it.

On the other hand, it's easy to see where the narrative comes from given that Pep vs Klopp has given us two of the most memorable title races in PL history, so even if we didn't compete with them on our down years (in the league), those two title race seasons will still be on top of peoples' minds when thinking back about this period (and not for example Solksjaer's or Mourinho's (?) second place finishes which were way off City's points total if I'm not mistaken).

It's the narrative because Liverpool actually challenged City during that period. Mourinho finished 19 points behind - that's not a challenge - Solskjaer finished 12 points behind - that's not a challenge. Klopp was actually involved in title races. From the point he added Van Djik and Alisson and had a team obviously capable of challenging, he managed Liverpool for 6 seasons and 3 of them were obviously, blatantly of a title winning quality in normal circumstances. Mourinho's 81 points maybe wins a title in favourable conditions, Solskjaer's 74 never wins the title. Klopp's 97 points only doesn't win a title because of extraordinary circumstances. You only have to look at how many people are dismissing Slot and Liverpool this year as potentially "poor" champions to understand that people largely recognise that final table standings aren't always a black and white indicator of how good the team is.

That isn't to say he deserves hypothetical trophies, but it is to say it's totally silly to dismiss him as a manager who couldn't handle the pressure of consistently challenging.

We were happy with LVG finishing 4th, when Klopp left Dortmund. If we were a proactive club, we could have had an agreement for him to take over the following season.

I don’t buy the Disney land crap he spouted as Liverpool were in a worse position than us when he took over.
He would have been the perfect fit at the time I think but unfortunately we were ran by clowns. Don't know how true the Disneyland thing is but wouldn't put it past that idiot Woodward.

Guys, Xabi is still going to Real. Klopp is too busy sucking up to RB's great club culture and filming commercials.

Can't see Madrids galacticos suiting his gegenpress system
Liverpool last played that system about 6 years ago. The Real squad would suit him perfectly. A very industrious set of midfielders who can be bypassed with direct football unlocking the individual brilliance of their forwards.

Agree to this, he would do well with this team.

Fair enough

Billions of years of the universe's existence, circling around the moment Klopp and Sinner meet in a commercial. Presumably they'll have a face off to establish who is the true commercial king and will get to film a 1000 new commercials

And I just saw him in one in the US for Trivago, what is the world coming to?

Totally destroyed his reputation for a half year gig at RB? Would be brilliant if true

I thought Milan might be the better option..still can't see him at Roma.

I mean Roma would suit him to a tee. In a similar place as Liverpool were before Klopp took over.
Could see it happening, away from England and as German NT is in Nagelsmann's firm hands...

Would massively respect him if he goes for another non dominant team and builds something else - they also last won the league 20+ years ago
It's kind of the only team that makes sense if he wants a real rebuilding former glories challenge, unless he's a glutton for punishment and goes Valencia or Deportivo for the ultimate test.

Hope he goes to Milan. AS Roma is not a sleeping giant. They are kinda like Everton.

Manchester United.....If he still does has the top energy, hunger and guts. To match it.

A top club need a top head coach. You simply do not attract top talents and players and coach. If you are middle table teams and teams with no ambition to win the domestic league.

That would be a plot twist if it happened. It's not going to happen, but part of me wants to see it

It'd be an interesting way to spend the career doing basically an inverse Pep. Instead of going to an already successful club with the most resources and taking them up by a notch after spending a few billion, go pick a bunch of sleeping giants and restore them to their former glory punching above their weight.

If he's given time to work, he could do really well at Roma. A club that suits him as well.
