On August 9th FC Bayern AllStars will challenge the Manchester United Legends at the Allianz Arena.

Former players, such as Paul Scholes, Denis Irwin, Dwight Yorke, Andrew Cole and Edwin Van Der Sar will be taking on the likes of Mark van Bommel, Owen Hargreaves and Paulo Sergio who will be stepping out of football retirement for this once in a lifetime charity match.

Allianz Insurance are offering fans the chance to win a once in a lifetime opportunity to not only watch the game but also have the opportunity to take a penalty against world cup winning German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

Fancy your chances of beating Neuer? Here are the full details of how you enter.

Imagine Pirlo-ing Manuel Neuer. Then taking some sunglasses out and telling him to deal with it.

Manchester United Legends:
Denis Irwin, Andrew Cole, Dwight Yorke, Dion Dublin, Edwin van der Sar, Lee Martin, Mikael Silvestre, Clayton Blackmore, Jesper Blomqvist, Quinton Fortune, Danny Higginbotham, Ben Thornley, Paul Scholes

FCB All Stars:
Markus Babbel, Andreas Brehme, Paul Breitner, Hans-Jörg Butt, Harald Cerny, Maurizio Gaudino, Owen Hargreaves, Walter Junghans, Robert Kovac, Oliver Kreuzer, Hans Pflügler, Michael Rummenigge, Paulo Sérgio , Michael Tarnat, Olaf Thon, Mark van Bommel, Marcel Witeczek, Alexander Zickler

Not really surprising that Hargreaves plays for Bayern...will probably pick up an injury after 10 minutes.

I'd bring out the Nutella first, get his attention, then score the penalty. Infallible plan.

No - because he is playing for Bayern and not for United...
He plays for them in New York this week, too.

Gaudino actually never played for Bayern but his son has run through all youth teams and currently even was allowed to play with the professionals in the Telekom Cup.

Must admit, as a Norwegian I got quite a shock seeing Olaf Thon in there. Turns out it's a different Olaf Thon.

This is Olav Thon, a 91 year old Norwegian billionaire:

Probably in better shape than Hargreaves, mind you.

He was already injury prone at Bayern. Albeit not as much as in England.
Only had one season in which he was completely injury free. IIRC he also had a few injuries in the youth team.

Come on guys....Owen is one of the nicest players you can meet.
He had bad luck with you. No evil plan to damage United. ;)

Scoring against Man Utd wouldnt feel right. He just got us the cup. CANT!!! :D

Danny Higginbotham - Man Utd Legend. Just kidding. Kind of.

What do you think the most of us think when we read Harald Cerny. He is a 1860 legend - but actually he started at Bayern youth but did not make it. It is a similar story like Higginbotham. But they need enough players for their AllStars - especially when they travel... And not all of the older players are in shape for playing...

When i read the notification at the top for the first time I considered this. But I dont think he will dive hard against an amateur, so if you dink him he will probably catch it. Of course if you succeed you will go down as a legend.

It's fair enough. I just like the idea that he might put that on his business card.

Does anyone know where you could find a Manuel Neuer penalty record?? - you know like the graphics they bring up on screen on the TV showing where people have scored/had them saved from him etc? This might prove handy :):)

He does not need to save them... He just stares on you and you do a RAMOS...

Hmmm he didn't seem to react to warmly to the panenka attempt :) I can't imagine trying that in front of 40K mad Bayern fans anyway.

If I was to take one I think I would pick a corner and just belt it as low and hard as possible ... all sounds good in theory huh!?

Looking at that video above the only person to score placed it top right corner. I would say that's the hardest place to put it as a right footer.

Do you think he resents United?

Dont think so. Never heard him talk bad about you(assuming you are a United fan).
He is just too good for that. But he grew up with Bayern, speaks German, and Bayern is a big family.
How long was he with you? 3 years? I think he sees himself as a Bayernguy who played for United too.
