So if we have walked from Sancho, and are looking at other targets, shouldn't we have at least heard leaks from the other side? All i'm seeing are other clubs trying to push up the cost of their players by linking MUFC and Stone/Peach/Fab are saying nothing about us beyond "pay 120 for sancho or gtfo".

If we were looking at a second or third choice where are all the local journo reporters? Where are leaks from the other clubs? The only signing that I remember turning on a dime / not discussed was lukaku during the morata hype.

Is this whole window "Sancho-or-Bust" and we are just not walking away?

Newcastle have signed someone now haven't they?

So does that just leave Man United, Wolves and Leicester who are sitting on their hands?
Wolves are close to signing maitland-niles I think. They are in a position where they have a large/strong squad already and wont be bringing in many squad strengtheners. Also they only use minimal numbers over the season and dont change the starting 11 too much. Liecester have a alot of young talents that will get the game time next season so they wont be bringing in alot, a chilwell replacement is what is probably holding up the chelsea deal.

Us.. we need alot in comparison to them and our direct rivals. We are in a very dubious position.

Turning into a farce all over again if I’m honest. The club should have alternative, cheaper, talented players if we can’t get Sancho. Other clubs are well into the transfer market and we are just standing still.

Woodward and the Glazers can’t hide behind Jose this time and let him take the brunt of the blame. The fans will not turn or blame club legend Ole for this if signings aren’t made to bolster the squad after dragging us to 3rd. The blame will be flying directly to Woodward’s and the Glazers doorstep.

Why don’t we sign bargains anymore like we did with Javier Hernandez for 6m. The problem with our club is that we give insane contracts to players that are terrible. For example:

Brandon Williams is on 65k a week for god sake. He can’t even take a man on or cross a ball!

And to add to the list

Jese Lingard 75k a week
Phil Jones 75k a week
De gea 375k a week
Rashford 200k a week
Fred 120k a week
Lindelof 120k a week
Mata 160k a week
Shaw 150k a week

We give bumper contracts to incredibly average players. The only one you could argue is De Gea’s as he was the best in the world at one point but 375k? Seriously.
I'm going to stop short of personally insulting you but honestly your the very worst kind of supporter.

All those players highlighted and you choose the mainly call out the 18 year old full back who was thrown into the deep end at the business end of the season because our made of glass main full back gets injured whenever he has to full sprint.

The wages you've highlighted are actually standard wages for top clubs now, I'd bet none of Liverpool or City squad are on less than 100k a week. Granted they are better players but your list of players still singed contracts to play for United.

You wouldn't fly a plane for British Airways and expect the same salary to fly for Easyjet.

The main issue is clubs below the so called top six and Everton pay considerably less, so getting rid of your deadwood is more difficult these days.

As for this window, a total shambles so far, we need at least three good quality players for this squad, to go into the season with Lindelof and Bailly as competition to play alongside Maguire is a joke, both have shown they've not got the brain to do it.

Ole's comments about high quality, limited number of signings, is the only thing keeping the hordes at bay atm.

If we turn around on deadline day and say "here is our new signing....a rotation winger from Bournemouth" all the headlines are "Club has no faith in Ole".

lets be clear even if our only signing is Sancho it will not have been a good window. We need quality depth in attack, midfield and defense. At least 3 arguably 4 players would be a good window imo

Maybe a cheap punt for [Irrelevant point] now that he will be second fiddle at Chelsea?

Would be a nice attacking option to have. He's still a good player.

Never going to happen, 4 players of the required standard could be upwards of 250 million.

Not with Covid, no chance.

We should have looked at Thiago Silva as a stop gap, then throw everything at Sancho.

Two signings, not ideal but of the quality and experience to improve us.

That's because this was the "need to get back to UCL" season.

We are one of the biggest clubs in the world, in supporters, structure and value.
Just because we weren't that big of a deal in the 70s and 80s it's not an excuse to be dogshit right now.
If there was a ratio to measure how much it's expected of a club, and how much it actually achieved, we'd probably be one of the worst clubs in the world in the last 7 years, behind only the Milan clubs and maybe Arsenal.
Sorry disagree. Not making excuses but there is not a team in sport that is successful all the time. That's just a fact whether fans like it or not. That's not to say we should accept it, just need to understand it. We aren't the only horse in the race and other teams are equally trying to achieve success, you could argue more teams than in the history of the league are competitive whilst clearly there are two front runners. Those two front runners have fans that never seen their team win the league for 30 years, we don't win it for 7 after decades of winning trophies and you think we are the worst run club club just behind Arsenal and Milan. There are clubs in world football that have never achieved what those teams have or watched players that those teams have had played for them.

Each to their own and whilst I'm disappointed we are not competitive at the moment, it feels like we are on the right pathway to being so. Chelsea and City can spend what they want, the clubs are soulless filled with guns for hire with young talent that will be sat on the bench wasting their careers away.

It's like athletics, you can cheat as they both have in order to achieve your medal, knowing your win is hallow, or you can train clean, knowing you earned your win. That's how you build history and legacy.

Please tell me this is a joke?

He's absolute scum who shouldn't be allowed to play football.

Besides, Solskjaer said "a hole is better than an arsehole" - I think Alonso safely falls under the latter. I'd rather play with 10 men and dance with relegation than play that horrible dirty prick.

Should we take a look at Perisic? Still a decent player, Bayern isnt buying him and he can be had for around 15 mil. Seems pretty cheap and he is still a serviceable player, scored against Barca, played really well. Not too shabby.
Then maybe Sancho next year if its not happening this year. Perisic for a year wouldnt be too bad.

Could be upwards of 250 mil or with a decent scouting set up you could easily get 4 good players for under 200 mil.

Some are just interested in getting players in like it's a numbers game. Who of all those Chelsea signings start for Utd if all our players are fit and playing to their ability? How many of those players would sign for Utd to sit on the bench and if not, they aren't coming. If I was a Chelsea fan I'd be arguing why are we spending all that money on forward players when there are holes and lack of depth in midfield and the need two CB's and a Keeper.
Yes City have signed two CB's but if we had signed them, people would be moaning that they aren't at the level that we need. Those two signings are the difference between them winning the CL and losing. They have left their brilliant winger leave and arguably they have an ageing team in some positions.

The grass it's not always greener and we are shopping for players that improve our first team, not just the squad. People talk about players with buy outs for 40m, if they were available, why are they still at their respective clubs? Maybe irrespective of the buy out, the player only wants the move to certain club?

But that's not the point is it? Even if none of them start for us(which I highly doubt), they are a huge upgrade on what they have and everyone needs to remember that they finished level on points with us.

Which lot? Ole isn't signing players to replace starting 11 such as Shaw, Lindelof, Fred, Matic, Scott et al so those positions aren't being looked at. We can argue that they should but it is clear that they aren't on the list. It's Mata, Lingard, Andreas, Dalot , Jones and maybe another CF he's looking to improve on.

All of Chelsea's signings would improve our squad a lot and that is the whole point. All the ole buttons keep saying our depth is crap, we can't sub anyone in but somehow we should only buy guaranteed starters.

No I agree . Read my previous comment. #638. We need players that can affect games. Top players that can strengthen out bench to give us the option of having Bruno and Rashford on the bench with no drop in quality in the 11 on field players.

The Andreas, Jones and Dalot type players are out the door in my opinion.

Our first eleven has done well, but could be improved on still, then the ones they replace would give us a really strong bench. Problem is nobody wants to buy any of our bench players. As someone said we have no game changers on the bench, they are basically players who will keep the status quo if we are winning, but are near useless if we need a win.

This season has been unprecedented and no other points total would have got either us or Chelsea in this position previously so what happened last year is relevant and impossible to duplicate. They have an upgrade but no ones kicked a ball yet and the signings arguably were not where their problems were anyway. Not sure why people get hung up on the number of signings when it's clear that it's more about the right ones in the right positions. City failed to sign a world class CB, Liverpool sign one. You think Chelsea gonna win anything with that defence or signing a defender that old?

City are soon gonna sign Koulibaly. Liverpool are working on Thiago deal. Those 2 clubs are not the topic of discussion anyways.

You are being disingenuous if you think that Thiago Silva will be their only defensive signing and also being a not so good one. With how fat Frank was dropping Kepa, its clear that they will get another GK.

With all those signings they are adding depth whereas Utd doesn't even have that luxury. One injury to Bruno and back to Mata, Andreas and Lingard. We are relying on Greenwood who is not even a proper right sided player. Dan James is the backup. Rashford is in piss poor form since the restart. Matic can't play every week.

It's not that hard to see how much better placed Chelsea will be for the next season.

All these guys bitching about Chelsea's transfers be honest with yourself about your reaction if we signed those players. There would be plenty of transfer Muppet creaming going on.

....and how many have gone to Chelsea to sit on the bench? Improving your starting 11 by offering guaranteed football is harder than signing players that you can't. If they are willing to sit on the bench, it's arguably you don't want them anyway. If they can come on and you see no drop off in play, then please tell me who these players are. Chelsea are going to have a number of young players that are going to question their futures at the club. There are going to be other players that were starting that very soon will be looking to move. Let's see how quick the squad doesn't look that healthy as that's exactly what has happen to them before.

We're a joke in the transfer market and it's time for fans to stop making excuses for the likes of Woodward and Judge. They're fecking useless. Look how long it took us to sign Bruno in January, we could've bought him at the start of the month we were interested in signing him in the previous summer so we had already done our homework and we knew how much Sporting wanted yet we dithered once again.

I'll judge our business at the end of the window but right now it's not looking good. It's just frustrating seeing how much Chelsea believe in Lampard and his vision they're landing just about every player he wants while we sit around doing feck all. Ole deserved some backing this summer it's time to kick on.

Competent executives and an owner who wants them to win.

Chelsea have both, United have neither - that's the difference.
