Douglas Costa and Alex Sandro sounds good to me. I think that would be a good transfer window given all the circumstances.
Move Williams to the RB. Have Smalling back.

More balanced deeper team.

There's only one United!
They'll probably get one player to keep us happy.

Our season literally finished 5 days ago and we've got people going mental already. We won't kick a ball in anger for another 4 weeks and the players aren't even due back for another fortnight or so.

But it's because the likes of City, Arsenal and Chelsea are strengthening, and seemingly strengthening well, and we seem to not be, we're not even credibly linked to any real player besides Sancho, and who knows if that's going to happen at all considering the money being talked about. So i guess the point is, the season not long being over doesn't seem to stop other clubs, so why does it stop us

The biggest issue I have with how we conduct transfers is just the lack of speed. We knew for ages that right wing is the issue. We should've had our target lined up ages ago, and negotiations during the season and had such a gaping hole sorted out a while ago.

We have to keep in mind right now that whoever we sign from plenty of other countries basically can't meet up with the rest of the players for 2 weeks when they arrive. 2 weeks from today is the September 5th weekend, 1 week before the premier league start (2 weeks before our first game). So we're likely already in the situation that whoever we sign won't be used in the first game unless someone shows up out of nowhere.

Its 2020, how anyone could be happy with that baffles me. The standards on here are still laughably low.

Damn, its really gone quiet hasn't it.
I assume that we are hoping that if we drag Sancho out into the latter part of September, we might get some money off Dortmund's asking price. Whether or not we can afford anything else probably depends on getting that discount, so everything is on hold in the interim.

Basically, don't expect anything to happen in terms of incoming transfers, for the next month or so.

The number of people advocating Costa never ceases to amaze. Do they just see a name? Do they have some distant memory of good times?

He spends half his time injured, and when he's not injured he's scoring 10 goals in 101 games for Juve. Quality.

This will be a repeat of the 2018 summer where we sign 2 meh players instead of trying to kick on.

The top brass only cares about the finanfial benefits securing top 4 (CL money, Sponsorships etc.), not expecting anything of note before October 5th.
But surely they’d understand that by not investing, we are less likely to make top 4 again? City and Pool are going nowhere. Chelsea have strengthened very well.

I get why we are hesitant to spend 120M though. The club would have been hit hard like any other. Even Liverpool aren’t able to spend much.

Arsenal have signed Willian on a free and Chelsea paid Werner's release clause, while seemingly in no better position with Havertz as we are with Sancho. It's hardly like they've been pulling up any tees.

At this point, I don't know why people are angry. This has been the case now for 3 years. Surely at some point you just have to accept that this is how it's going to be.

You don't know what our club are doing. It's not always all over the papers and twitter. They don't get wind of every single deal do they?

Also Arsenal have signed Willian on a free and haven't signed this Brazilian CB quite yet either. What have I missed on them?

City have sold Sane and bought Ake and this Torres fella for about £10m NET. Hardly earth shattering.

Costa is injury prone, an unprofessional footballer who turns 30 next month. No thanks.

Sorry mate but people post this every single year. If you've followed us since Woodward was in charge you'd soon realise that people panic because we see this groundhog day situation every year.

People post "why are you getting annoyed it's so early in the transfer window". But, we know from history that we dick around in the transfer market and end up getting no one or some squad filler. The fact is the season starts soon, every other big club manages to sign players as soon as the window opens. Arsenal got Willian and are about to sign Gabriel. City have signed Ake and Torres. Chelsea Werner and Ziyech, all first teamers. Whilst we've been working on a Sancho deal for what, 2 years? And we still can't get it done. It's incompetence at the highest level and people are rightly sick of it. The reality is we won't sign Sancho or Grealish and will likely end up paying well over the odds for a 3rd or 4th choice.

Haha, it wasn't the amount that was spent but rather the manner in which it was spent.
That's on the manager then and the recruitment team. The Glazers and Woodward don't pick the transfer targets i'm very confident on that much.

Arsenal have signed a reject on a free from Chelsea (who have upgraded with Ziyech) and are close to some guy nobody had heard off 4 weeks ago from Lille. So what. We will make moves too of course we will. Should we just rush in, panic and just buy somebody because our inpatient fanbase can't wait a few weeks? Of course not.

If we sign somebody tomorrow they can't play for another month anyway. And there's no training going on right now as Ole and all the staff are away.

I'm sure Solskjaer won't be thinking the same way as you.

United don't look even close to getting anything done, unless they sign someone out the blue (which lets be realistic, hasn't happened since about 2010). And this is in a Summer when we really should be looking to bridge that gap between where we are and the top. It's probably the best chance we've had since our last title win. But we seem to be standing still.

Taking two aging players off of Juve’s books sounds like a terribly underwhelming window. It would also show zero faith and backing for Ole. Costa started 11 games last year. If that is the club’s ambitions after finishing 3rd and showing some improvement then then we’re fecked.

You kind of invalidate any point you may have by dismissing the fact that Arsenal have made first team signings as rejects and nobodies as if your opinion of their quality refutes the fact they have improved their team. That's not to mention that Wiliian is far from a "reject" in any but the most bizarre imagination since Chelsea wanted to keep him (just not on a 3 year contract) and he was also wanted by Spurs and we supposedly offered him a 2 year deal too.

I believe @Nou_Camp99 has only been a United supporter since last May, so they probably were unaware.

I know it's early but i'm convinced we aren't going to sign anything.

All the other teams have got something done. United are still going for a player that they cannot afford.

Solskjaer won't be happy seeing Chelsea, for example, strengthen so much while we stand still.
Then the season is over before it started also will have a knock in effect as no way Pogba signs a contract for a team with no ambition so he will be sold for peanuts next year.

Would be the pinnacle of planning really

This argument that it’s early in the window is completely blown away by the fact that over 20 days have passed and we haven’t made a single signing. The last time that happened was in 2008 when we had just won a league and euro cup double and ultimately signed Berba. Covid should not be an excuse when we’re supposed to be a club set to weather something like Covid with our huge commercial revenue streams. If not Sancho, we should have been signed a CB or CM by now, as there are plenty of attainable and quality targets available.

Please list these PL quality, available and ready to start in a top 4 team players please. I'm all ears and I'm expecting plenty of options :) .

I dont see a future for smalling. lindelof and maguire are the main pair for a reason i think - decent with the ball. probably still not good enough for what we want to do... can't throw smalling back in there for games that we will have the ball

More likely to keep a clean sheet with Smalling next to Maguire.

You're just being ridiculous mate. Like a kid who can't wait for their Christmas presents. We will make signings. We always do. We spent £200m last season ffs did you forget?

I don't want us to just panic and start throwing money at any old dross and you have no idea who we are talking to right now.

People will always pick the transfers which suit their narrative. I'd love us to have Sancho, Grealish, Pau Torres and David Alaba over the line before August 31st but big transfers always take time.

It took Liverpool two windows to get Virgil Van Dijk. Liverpool had to wait an extra 12 months to get Naby Keita. Man City had to wait from January to the summer before they could get Mahrez. Eden Hazard was pursued a couple of times by Real Madrid before they finally got him with a year remaining on his deal.

Comparing the Sancho saga to signing Werner (release clause), Minamino (release clause), Tsimikas (low cost signing of a back up left-back), Willian (free transfer) is silly.

As others have previously pointed out the final Sancho price likely dictates whether we can sign our other targets. Until that deal is dead or completed we are unlikely to make moves for other players.

von de Beek, Koulibaly, P. Torres, Upamecano for starters. Im not a scout but we employ plenty who should be able to identify a number of a premier league quality players that could be easily signed if we had a competent way of doing transfers at the club.
