Three problems with that:
1. Ten Hag might turn out to be a massive failure
2. He might not even want to come here
3. This season is wasted, might even miss out on top 4 as it stands. In fact, there is a very big chance of that.
We're not playing Football Manager. We're at a very high risk to be sent even further behind than we currently even are.
1. Agree, though that's the same (to varying degrees of risk) with every manager.
2) Also agree, though I suspect he'd only turn us down if he felt he was likely to get another top level job like City within the next while.
3) Agree again, there's a massive risk of that.
Basically I'm saying I hate the idea of writing off this season by sticking with a manager who isn't good enough. If we ultimately end up with a manager I like, I'll realistically care less at that point as I'll be more optimistic about the future. But if we end up with a manager I dislike, then it will just make writing-off this season all the worse. And the fact that we didn't act when there was a top level replacement available will seem worse again in hindsight.
