Leader qualities, "would be great having him in the dressing room"
Where the feck does that come from?
It's a lot of rubbish. If Zlatan came he wouldn't be coming for the football. He would be coming because Jose wants to command some respect in the dressing room at a very difficult moment. Zlatan is a proven bully and sides with Mourinho. It would be a tactical/political move to command respect in the dressing room. It's a good move for Mourinho only not the team. Zlatan wasn't playing last season and the only start he made he was hauled off at half time with us 2-0 down.

Jose probably wants him to intimidate the dressing room (i.e. shut Pogba up.) Zlatan wants to play. So don't see it working for him.

Absolutely right. If Mourinho needs an over-the-hill Zlatan as a nanny to manage the players rather than handling the situation himself, he can leave.

Not a chance. We already build up at a snails pace, he would only worsen the matter. What we really need is defensive and midfield leaders. Midfielder to start giving Pogba a boot up the A**E and start playing 1 / 2 touch football and moving the ball forward at pace. And someone at the back to help both Bailly and Lindleof at the back.

Can you imagine if Keano played in the current team. Would completely transform the attitude around the team. How often is Pogba going to get off with this social media Bull***t, i really couldn't care less if he has a lightning bolt in his hair. And to come out and say he is finding it hard to concentrate after the world cup win is an utter joke. SAF instilled a winning mentality in his teams. After they had won the Champs league, he told the players on the day, that he expected them to win it again next year. If they had a hard time concentrating the next season they would be out the door. Probably why Pogba was sold in the first place. Slightly off topic, but getting pi**ed off with the player power and lack of leadership at the club.

He literally looked like a pub player for us, when he came back from his injury.
You people cannot be serious... “mentoring Rashford and Martial”, that doesn’t work like that, maybe they don’t even get along, he’s not a football coach even.

He’s nowhere near good enough for the PL or the CL anymore.
The MLS is not a serious competition.

Cherry picking? Dude he spent barely over a full season playing for us and that guy is just stating facts. He did miss a shitload of chances.
Not at all. I completely agree. Ibra was just above average in his best season for United. Remember: he didn't help us win the league or Champions League, and this is the level we should be aiming for this season. He scored 17 goals that year but missed a ridiculous amount of easy chances, while his effort in many games was under par. Only really in the League Cup final did we see the real Ibra.
It's fine if your opinion is not rating his 16/17 season as highly. My issue was comparing his 16/17 season with Lukakus when it makes far more sense to compare to Lukakus 17/18 in the same team.

Or do you guys just want to ignore Lukaku missing chances as well?

There's a good possibility he won't even get to January with the games we have soon and even if he does the board wouldn't sanction the move. it would be another sign of Jose's 'outdatedness' and desperation buying a near 40 year old instead of improving the players he already has.

Would prefer if we could move away from the "static tree upfront" football Jose seem to like.
Sanchez or Mata as a sort of false 9 could perhaps be worth trying out? Or perhaps two out of Rashford-Sanchez-Martial as a pair upfront in a 4-4-2 with a diamond midfield.

Getting Zlatan in now as a backup to Lukaku would be pointless imo.

He won't come for the second time.
This. He was here, played European Cup final in his beloved Stockholm against his beloved Ajax, history was made.

Good ending to the story. Hopefully MLS give him even more years of football and his trademark banter.

Time to build something new but he'll be missed because for one year we had super strong leader in the team.

Irrelevant what happened after. That injury showed him they way out of the club but he made important work.

In 10-20 years people will still remember Zlatan because he was part of that team, played or not played the final.

It would be the 3rd time actually. He wasn't contracted to the club after the summer but was using the facilities to recover from the injury. He resigned in August last year.

It's not irrelevant. You said he played a European Cup final. played. Fact is he didn't so you're talking tosh

Zlatan was an entertaining interlude in what has been a very frustrating 5 seasons but let’s try to keep some self-respect here. We are one of the the biggest clubs in the world and should not be looking to sign 37 year olds from the MLS.

He seems to have some sort of influence over Pogba, so in that limited sense I guess it could make sense. It absolutely doesn't from a footballing perspective, though.

If he could come in on form, without the need to play every match I'd take him in a heartbeat. A true professional, who works well with our manager, knows the squad. Capable of anything but winning a race. His mentality is still elite. He could be an incredible impact player... the only issue prior to his injury was that he couldn't do it twice a week for 90 minutes anymore.

It's impossible to see any hypothetical development as a positive, once you've made your mind up that getting the manager sacked is the first step to getting the club back on track. If he flops, we're a laughing stock again, if he's a great success than that means a stay of execution for Mourinho. Is that a good outcome?

No. He was slowing down and becoming a bit of a problem in his final days with us, no way he would be up to the pace in England now. He would be useful to have in the dressing room but only if you could trust Jose not to use him for nefarious reasons.

Would welcome him for the second part of the season. Though he will not come without a fair shot at either the PL or the CL, and neither are looking realistic per today.

Zlatan is a strong character and he'd be great for our dressing room even though he'll not be involved in much games. He'd walk into the dressing room and put players in their place who are raising a fuss.

Shouldn't we be moving forwards instead of backwards? Mourinho's been here for two and a half years and we're considering re-signing a 37 year old, presumably as some sort of stop-gap?

Doesn't that indicate he's not one iota further forward in building a team than the day he walked in the door?

Why is he still here?

I presume everyone who is Zlatan in also want Jose to keep his job too?
Probably. It's the same "Zlatan is such a badass" creaming at his "everywhere I go I win" comments and "Jose, what a presser...ooo the mind games!!!  " + leadership/dressing room influence crowd

No. The sooner Mourinho is gone the better. But because our squad is a shower of shite and lacks leadership, I think Zlatan would be a positive influence in the dressing room.

Absolutely not. But realistically Mourinho will be here to the end of the season. And if we are still in for a shout for any title, Zlatan would be and asset under Mourinho even with limited playing time.

I'd rather play Alexis upfront at the moment, but if he was willing to come and play a squad role then there would be no harm in bringing him in till the end of the season.
