With Starfield and Forza in September and October there wasn't lots of room

I also think MS want to position it for the awards. Dec would miss game awards cut off and this year it wouldn't win anything big anyway considering the competition. Next year gives it more time to cook and a chance of getting MS in the awards conversation for the first time in 20 years.

Further proof they don't give a shit about games actually coming out.

Also, Starfield in September

They can call it whatever they want, but even that Forza Motorsport footage isn't gameplay. Just show it as you would see it while playing.

They're doing a gameplay deep dive on the extended showcase on Tuesday. Usually Forza Monthly stuff.

Good, but it still wouldn't hurt to show snippets of actual gameplay here. There hasn't been a lot of that from their own studios despite their earlier promise.

Overwatch 2 is a banging game. Only got into it recently. Shame they've pulled back on all the 'planned' pve stuff.

Yeah I agree. Would take less games and a bit more proper gameplay focus. Especially Hellblade since we've had proper gameplay before. Fable and Avowed I understand having more of a mix.

25 years Starfield has been cooking did you see?

Game development cycles are mad these days.

Better show for it with 60fps mode at launch.

The fact Bethseda brag about Skyrim and Fallout 4 shows exactly what they are now.

Skyrim is still class. So much revisionism about what was truly revolutionary game.

Fallout 4 fair enough.

Also fair enough that Skyrim was fecking ages ago. But let's not pretend it wasn't amazing despite flaws.

Avowed was actually good on that front, looked like a lot of actual gameplay from the player's perspective.

Just hudless and mixed in with the trailer which is something. But I'm saying I agree with you I'd like some lengthier playthrough snippets.

Starfield looks like it has the potential to be great. The story will make or break it though for me.

Not for me, story only has to be decent. Good varied exploration is what I crave in that game.

I'm not expecting much from the story to be fair. More the simulation sandbox and exploration.

And hoping they've got better side quests than standard fetch ones.

They showed feck all of the game itself though which seems strange for something that’s due out so soon. Hopefully there’s more in the direct coming up.

Revisionism from me? Because you can dig up my posts about the game over the years including from at launch if you want.

The "Revisionism" (is that a new word you heard around the office this week btw?) is that it was ever as groundbreaking as people like you claim now. It's only because they've been clever about keeping it in the conscience and selling it over and over that keeps it in the memory.

This trailer looks alright but I don't massively trust Don't Nod. They're games tend to fall too much on the melodrama side for my blood.
I really liked Remember Me and Life is Strange 1, but it's been downhill since then. LiS 2 wasn't great and Vampyr, while intriguing, sort of sucked.

That'll be a shame, but I get it if that's what they're going for. Hopefully it'll have both.
