Basically agree with all of that, except I'd have Imran Khan/Botham in the all rounders, and I wouldn't spastically put 'Gibbs' twice under 'Fielders'. Jonty Rhodes would have to rate a mention.

I think Dujon's the best keeper, ever.
Did you ever see Bob taylor?

he was at a test after he has retired and englands keeper got injured, he was allowed to take his place behind the stumps, even then he was by far the best about, 3 years or so after he retired with no practice.

KP is amazing, only richards before bats like he does. in five years time you will agree with me ;)

Freddie is a superb slip fielder, Both was the the best with Mark Taylor second.

Fair point re Freddie.

And I don't think he bats anything like Richards. Richards could play all around the park. Pieterson's only got one shot. He's a fecking good one trick pony.

I've seen clips of Taylor. But for me it's between Knott and Dujon.

I'm surprised few have mentioned Andy Flower. Absolutely brilliant batsman, i think he averaged in the 50's.

And Spoony, how does Gavaskar get in? Sachin atleast at his peak was a far superior batsman. And considering how high you rate Lara, shouldnt he get in ahead?

I don't love Lara. And I don't dislike Tendulkar. The thing is Gavaskar (and Miandad) had to face the great WIndian quicks. Both scored centuries in the Carribean. . . this at a time when they could bowl 6 bouncers in an over! I'm not implying that Lara and Sachin would fail in those conditions, but the fact is they were there and did it. Also one more thing, spinners bowled on uncovered wickets, making it tougher for batsmen. The only thing that let's Gavaskar down, his his one day record. But that's not really important.

(and it's a great shame I didn't see Sobers)

Bollocks, I forgot ***** Bland in the Fielding Category, possibly the greatest cover fielder of all time.

I guess apart from most things it comes down to the rate of scoring between Gavaskar against anyone. For me thats why i would go for the current two. I know you consider one day cricket rubbish, but as an Indian cricketer he would be crap for his own country where they would truely want him to excel whereas Sachin or Lara are both brilliant in the shorter form of the game. And then theres that ability to dominate situations which the former couldnt do. But then he always has a case because he played at the hardest position, as an opener.

Yep..4000 Test runs and 400 plus wickets. Devastating player in ODI's. Only player in the history of cricket to hold both the test and one day international records for highest number of wickets simultaneously, won the WORLD CUP FFS

He is fastest player to reach 3000 runs and 300+ wickets in Test Matches. Also he got his major share of his wickets chancing his arm in the minefield subcontinent pitches.

Botham..won Hashes when Aussies were really shite, paraded with elephants in Somerset to fund an hospital for mouth ulcers and manage to produce Sarah Botham... nowt more.

Sultan, i thought you are a sensible bloke. You cannot put beefy ahead of Kapil. Kallis and Cairns are batsman who can bowl...not in the league of Sobers, Imran or Kapil.

Having a choice of just three is hard Vij.

Bothams batting just edged him ahead of Kapil, Dev deserves a lot of respect having had to bowl on slow lifeless tracks prepared for spinners (more so in those days). I agree Kallis is more a batsman who can bowl (not badly).

I was too young to remember the great Sobers...

Those are some amazing feats. He captain not the best team to win the world cup, that has to be one of his greatest achievements. Never saw him but didnt he play an unbelievable knock in the semis against Zimbabwe?
