I remember being on vacation with my parents when that dropped. I was so excited to buy it
But it wasn't my first album (though probably among the first 10 or so).My first album was gifted to me alongside my first CD player. It was an Elvis Presley greatest hits collection. Rock 'n Roll (50s and early 60s) was my first musical obsession, and lasted until I discovered contemporary pop (see example above) at around the age of 10 or 11.

I had these two as MC versions in the late 80s & listened to them extensively for years on the cassette player up on my children's room's loft bed.
The first one I bought from my own money was this, though
I never really bought an album until 2000 or 2001 but I remember getting 3 or 4 all around the same time. Handbags and Gladrags, Slim Shady LP and Parachutes were definitely 3 of them but I couldn't remember which one I bought first.
