Your opinion now at the halfway stage...(FC United)

The smile on this kids face says it all.

Oh, feck off. Do you think FC United are the only team capable of making a kid in a wheelchair smile?

Not much point in replying as before I made a civilised reply and most of the points that were made were just ignoured for you to just come back out with your usual shite with just the same as in every post as someone who hardly ever goes and reckons £1.50 a week is too much spend on United

And what the hell was uncivilised about my post? You just don't know how to answer it apart from wheel out the old "you never go to United so what do you know" argument. And yeah, £1.50 a week (or £72 a year) is too much to pay for MUTV. I thought you were against the commercialism of football, yet somehow I'm not a real fan because I don't subscribe to the club's pay TV channel? If I were you I'd stop posting because you make the FCUM lot look very simple.

As for you to go on about Hillsborough, Heysel I seriously doubt that you was even born then

Hillsborough was 1989, I was 5 years old and can remember watching it on the TV. Unless you were there at Hillsborough then you experienced it the same way I did - watching the telly. So feck right off with your attempts at pulling rank, old man. And besides, I wasn't alive for World War II but I know it wasn't a pleasant experience.

I was alot older than 5 when Hillsborough happened, and old enough to understand. Unless you went to matches before that event you wouldnt have a clue what was going on.

You do not have one iota of a clue about what happened, how it was caused, who was to blame, the role of the police, and the subsequent events that followed, some of which border on criminal actions, and how this affected the games that you go to now.

If you think seeing it on TV means you know as much as others who lived through that period in time, you are off your trolley. You cannot in your wildest dreams Imagine what being a fan was like in them times. THe reason that many of the fans of my era can empathise with the Scousers over Hillsborough was because it was by the grace of god, that it wasnt us.

That's ludicrous. As as 5-year old kid I can assure you it scared the shit out of me. I always thought football was something fun I went to with my Dad, and then on that day I suddenly saw all these people dying at a match. If you think a child can't understand that you're seriously wrong. I may not have understood all the complexities of the situation back then, but I certainly understood that some little boys about my age were being trampled on or losing their Dads.

And I have since found out what happened in more detail. Do you think that people can't understand anything unless they experienced it during adulthood? Did you ever take history at school?

You can never understand because you werent around at that time.

You were scared at 5... Imagine being a 20 year old who not that long before had been in that ground, stood in the same place as those fans.

Sorry, but reading about it might give you an insight, but you can never ever empathise, because you havent seen how that situation can occur. I have, as have any fans that were going to games around that era.

When it comes to what football grounds were like in the late 80s, I am afraid you dont have the first idea, and without that behind you, you can never understand Hillsborough...

So 20 year olds get more scared than 5 year olds? I had been to watch live football at that age, my Dad took me to Boothferry Park to watch Hull City, a ramshackle ground if I ever knew one. It was almost all standing. I knew what it was like to go to a football match - that's why Hillsborough was so frightening to me, because a fun day out suddenly turned into some kind of horrific nightmare.

It's impossible to have a debate with you and the likes of mickthered because all you do is try to prove your seniority rather than offer a counterpoint.

"You don't understand because you weren't around at the time."

"You don't understand because you're too young."

"You don't understand because you have never been to a football game."

"I know what it's like because ... "

"I'm a bigger red than you because I'm 36 and you're 22 and that means I have supported them for longer."

It's quite tiresome really.

I see you have done your usual trick of just pulling out the bits that you want to reply to and then just ignored the rest as though it does not exist

And as you say debate is impossible as you always seem to refuse to answer anything always picking out what you want to just try and ignore everything else

Oh, feck off, you old twat. I left out ONE LINE of your sickeningly idiotic post. Mainly because it was completely wrong and I couldn't even be arsed to bring it up again.

I honestly believe you have learning difficulties or something.

It just seems to me that people are overstating the importance of Glazer in their decision to form FC United. From almost all the things that FC United fans have said about why they formed/watched the club it seems more of a reaction against the modern game of football than about Glazer.

Glazer was the final straw

Some people like to stand up to watch amateurs who can then share a drink with them in the pub afterwards. Some people like to watch some of the finest footballers in the world. What I don't like is the incredibly holier-than-thou attitude of people like Andy Walsh, saying stuff like "This is a real football club, a real football team."

What as opposed to a pretend one? In the interview he was saying it had been 6 months and we're still here... a real football team

Trip Fontaine said:
feck right off to that, I say. The modern game is far more commercialised and everything else than it used to be, but at the end of the day it's still real football. When those players come out of the tunnel onto the pitch it's no different at Old Trafford than Gigg Lane. I can't understand how people have allowed off-field shenanigans to cloud their ability to get behind the team they've supported for so long.

Yeah and after the game they meet the fans in the pub... having been paid £100...just the same!

Trip Fontaine said:
If you've been supporting Manchester United for 40 years then you'll have seen all kinds of highs and lows. Why is Glazer so bad to make you leave the club? Why were people displaying banners that said "RIP MUFC"? Why were they so ready to proclaim the death of Manchester United before the situation even had time to pan out?

Maths and Economics?

Trip Fontaine said:
I just think it's unrealistic to expect Manchester United or football in general to return to the old days. And do we even want to? Some of the developments of the modern game have been positive. People regard the past with rose-tinted spectacles on, but have they forgotten about things like Hillsborough, Heysel, rampant hooliganism, racist chanting, players who conked out after 60 minutes because they spent the previous night devouring pies and pints, shoddy pitches, crumbling stadiums, etc?

Yeah just like the good old days with out the shit bits!

FC United are also operating on such superior means to all the other teams in their division that it's not really a return to the way football used to be. They're simply another slice of proof that financial superiority equals sporting success. Look at them sitting pretty on the top of the table having lost only one game all season. Remind you of anyone?

The players have dropped several divisions and taken a cut in wages because they believe in FC and want to play in front of big crowds... where the feck does money come in to that.

YOU REALLY ARE A GRADE 'A' COCK...

Any thoughtful, or even semi-thoughtful football fan, will have to reconcile that disparity before much longer. It's United now, unsurprisingly, but other clubs are also hugely commercial, and when the novelty wears off, they might not be too far behind....The players on the pitch are supposed to represent the fundamental values of the club, and the values of the club are supposed to mirror the values of the supporters, and those values are handed down etc...Is that soul? Is that the essence of a football club? - I think it is. What happens when those values become contaminated....in this case, by off-field shenanigans? Remember now, these values are precious, they're defining, they are the very identity of the area and the fans. Well, there's disillusionment, alienation, and in this case, rightly or wrongly, there's defection.

Doublethink is "the power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one's mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them."

Anyone else see the application here?

He said it in comparison to the real United, as if Manchester United wasn't a real football team anymore. It was a shit cnut statement from a shit cnut of a man, a pathetic little wormboy who loves nothing more than getting himself into the press and on television to satisfy his dreams of being important. I bet he loves being "Acting General Manager" of his cnut little team.

Weird... last time I checked Manchester United were very much alive. They haven't gone bust yet. They don't show any signs of going bust. So... you're a cnut. And your children are pig-ugly and get bullied at school for being fat cnuts.

So there you go, you admit that it was a longing for the "good old days" that is the driving force behind FC United. Well, most of us are happy to live in the present and watch great football from the likes of Wayne Rooney. Adie Orr is fecking SHIT!

You're charging more than any other team in the league and you're paying them more. YOU ARE CHELSEA OF THE NON-LEAGUES.

Trip, I believe that what has happened in this thread is known in Caf parlance as 'you being make to look like a fecktard'.

Give up now before you end up like soccerbest.
