that must be the worst england team i´ve ever seen,i´m scared for us.
Agree completely, I know we have injuries and players not playing for certain reasons but that team is unbelievable average.

Excuse me, I'm relaxed
Did anyone see the Athletic Bilbao v Barca game at the weekend? Seems an epic match according to Sid Lowe's match report and someone on the Guardian's podcast was saying he hoped Capello was watching as Bilbao's coach Bielsa gave a masterclass in setting up a team against Xavi, Iniesta et al...

I still can't decide whether to watch this.

Pros:

Its England & I support them.

Cons:

I couldn't stand watching another dour England performance.
We're going to get battered, or see above.
There is something else I'd like to do at the same time which I can't really do at another time.

Should I or shouldn't I?

I'm thinking watch the 1st half & if I feel close to suicide, go & do the other thing instead whilst still being able to listen to the commentary (oh god, Alan Green).

Athletic did set up well against them but they were helped in no small part by the elements; it was absolutely pouring down, so much so that by the end it was almost impossible for Barca to move the ball in their half. Terrific game, though.

England no chance, I'm sure Spain have had a few losses in friendly games and will want to put the record straight.

The amount of water on the pitch had a lot to do with it. The ball wouldnt travel, effectively halving barca's potential.

I expect England to be beaten but I don't know why, I have this feeling that they won't be humiliated
England's has got some poor players in comparison to Spain but at least they will show some fight I think

I don't think we'll get battered. We have an inferior team, no doubt. I reckon a comfortable 2-0 victory for Spain.

People on here seem to like to exaggerate over how poor we are, for some reason.

It's pretty simple, if this is true then you watch the game...otherwise how can you complain to 'support' them when you're not even arsed to watch games just because they don't entertain you?

I'm up for this more than the usual games against countries ending in Stan that we're incompetent against. Atmos should be good...until they score 3 in quick succession and everyone will leave....Or stay and enjoy watching Spain. I'll be the latter.

Im going.

Admittingly to watch Spain as I didnt want to go to England/Sweden.

Would have been nice if Cleverley and Wilshere were fit tbh.

No chance that Jones will start in midfield for me.

Hart - Walker, Jagielka, Cahill, Cole - Walcott, Milner, Parker, Lampard, Johnson - Bent,

Or

Hart - Walker, Jagielka, Cahill, Cole - Walcott, Parker, Lampard, Somone - Bent, Welbeck

Something like that.

Think Capello has more or less confirmed that Jones start in midfield.

Also interesting that Del Bosque will likely try the Barcelona tactic with Silva playing in the Messi role(think he played there against Scotland)

He's right. Fans who complain of England being dull are not just spoiled, they need to remember that most football for most football fans is dull. We watch for those rare moments of extasy that illuminate our day like no other. With United I'm a gorged junkie Hunter Thompson rampaging through a floating pink marshmallow field. With England I'm a gibbering cold turkey Renton along with the rest of 'em.

I doubt we will lose badly. Mainly because Spain will score a couple and the just pass it around to kill the match.

They rarely go all out to score 5 or 6.

Spain will win it and end up with over 60% possession. There's a snowball's chance in hell of us stringing at least 5 consecutive passes together and attempt to retain it. We don't have the players for it, and until a new generation of players come through who are adept at this, we're going to struggle against the very top international sides.

I've got a big big downer on theses pointless friendlies. Since they always do these things in pairs, why don't they make it a round robin with a league of 3 teams, so there is something to play for?
Because that would require 3 game days. A good idea though.
