Footy fans are jealous creatures, it has to be said.

Bale would get into the first 11 of Chelsea, United, City and Arsenal every time I reckon. No, he isn't the "next Messi" but he's a bloody good player.

If we're all being honest:

Bale > Downing
Bale > Young
Bale > Gervinho
Bale > Malouda
Bale > Johnson
That's fair enough

He'd only get in our side if nani was on the right though

He's second only to Nani when it comes to wingers in the Premier League. If he can stay clear of injuries (which are always a problem for players of his ilk) he could further elevate his game to be one of the best wingers in the world.

Currently my mates who are Spurs fans are telling me that he's better than Nani and one of the best in the world, that's when it starts to get silly.

Bale's definitely the best winger in the league after Nani...teams can't live with him when he's on form....he knows how to use his pace to attack open spaces...he'd be a perfect replacement for Giggs, more so than Ashley Young.

If our young central midfielders (clev, anderson, jones, pogba, tunnicliffe) step up and make it so that we no longer need a central midfielder, then i wouldn't mind us blowing £30 million or so on him, if not more.

Bale had an outstanding 2010. Only started playing in January of the season that we got 4th, yet was arguably our best player and then started off the next season excellently.

tottenhamhotspurs.tv Player Of The Year

Its not his fault that the media and opposing fans only started to only notice this good form after the Inter matches. Probably the biggest and most stupid myth surrounding Bale is that he has only ever had one or two good games. He's had a lot, people were just too blind to see it until the media pointed it out (in a very hyperbolic nature) after the Inter games.
No, it started when he got a consistent run at LW, he was a poor LB and Spurs won only a few games if I recall when he was playing LB...

There was even a joke going on in the caf...

But yes, after he got a run at LW consistently, he became one of your best players.

This isn't always the case. Lots of managers play left footers on the right wing and right footers on the left wing these days (as they're on their stronger foot when presented with a shooting opportunity).

After Nani, he's the best winger in the League. I can't even think of a player who comes close to those two.

I don't get what the fuss is about when it comes to Malouda. Had a decent stint with the Chavs but has never lit up Stamford Bridge in the way that Giggs/Nani/Ronaldo has done for United and Bale is currently doing for Spurs.

He was Chelsea's best player when they regained the league, up there with Drogba for that season imo.

Does he set the mood, is he entertaining ? Well not as much as Bale and Nani but it was his consistency and his stats that looked pretty good for a LW.

Did really well as Robben's replacement.

He was part of a long winless streak early onwhich led to him becoming a laughing stock in the media.

However, BAE got injured in December 2009, we put in Bale at left back on 1st January I believe and he spent every match playing left back until Sunderland on the 3rd April, when he was often our best player.

I wouldn't put him back there now but he wasn't poor at leftback that season.

I would start nani on the right and bale on the left, but they are certainly
flexible enough to interchange. The muppet in me thinks that Bale, Rooney and Nani will certainly give hernandez a lot of chances - with the quality of crosses from the wings that could come and with Rooney perhaps with some through balls, i can see hernandez as a 30 goal a season striker. Rooney would get a few too with Hernandez off the ball running giving him some space around the penalty area...

Having said all that, maybe its time we stopped talking about bale as a potential signing...he aint coming, we won't splash out that money, and any thoughts welcoming it will just lead to disappointment...

Can we all stop being muppets now? (me included)

Malouda had a stint under Ancelotti where he was awesome and a good shout for being one of the best players in the league. Before that, he was decent.

Gone somewhat off the boil since. He and Drogba tandemmed nicely in that sense.

 Aye you're right but I wonder if Bale will end up at another club if Spurs fail to win anything in next few seasons?

Only Man City and Chelsea can realistically sign him although we would certainly have a say if the chequebooks were coming out - although we wouldn't sign him with our current squad as we don't really need another winger.

What would he go for? £30 mill? £40 mill?

When Bale inevitably moves (if he reaches the level I believe he can, he certainly won't be staying), I hope he goes abroad. Preferably to Spain and one of the big two. He's already said that he wants to experience football abroad so I'm hopeful that when he does go, he can resist the riches of City/Chelsea and leave the league.

Some people just fail to remember that, he was also one of the best players last season until for me Nani/Bale outshone him... He was super hot in the first half of the season and then faded.

Good stats for him this season, the Caf seems to have gone a bit cold on him this season which is funny because I think he is playing better

Bale is good but he ain't close to be the best player in the league. He epitomizes everything about the cliché english game, pace and power so that's why he gets rated so stupidly highly by pundits

Bale's hype is something I will never understand. Not the standard hype which he might deserve at times - as he is very talented and does have a good future in the game - but the constant comparisons to players with levels he is completely incapable of reaching, ever, are really weird. It seems a massively pointless and foolish affair. He might be the best Welsh winger they've had for a while (not a long while either), but that's about it. He's not going to be the best winger in the world, nor the best anything, because he does not have the ability. He might find himself around or near those names, which again is no small feat, but comparing him to players like Messi, Best etc, when there are players right now who are so much better them him is insane.

He's Welsh. A Welsh winger, which makes the 'best since Best' comment even more retarded when you consider his fellow countryman being overlooked.

We all love United
People are certainly silly to compare him to Best and Messi. As now, there is little evidence that he will turn into a world class player or a player just below that tier at 22, yet there is none that he won't do so as well. Are the likes of Gotze/Hazard/Ganso seriously better than him or because they have nice foreign names and don't come from little Wales so they are better?

When he's better than Giggs, then they can talk about Best comparisons..until then, he's not fit to lace Ryan's boots yet.
It depends on what way you're talking about this. He may not have surpassed Giggs yet throughout his whole career, but he's certainly a better player than him at the moment.
