Arsenal - Dirty team

It's not OK. Cynical fouling is clearly a different thing to dangerous fouling though. And I know which one I prefer.
A foul is a foul. If a team commits more fouls than any other team in the league then they are a dirty team.

Just because you are that team doesn't mean you get to change the definition of dirty to 'leg breakers'.

That's ridiculously simplistic. You're basically saying that all fouls are equally severe. So what you're essentially try to claim is that, for example:

Team 1 commits 12 fouls in a game. Team 2 commits six fouls in a game. Team 1's fouls cause no damage whatsoever. Team 2's fouls put six players in wheelchairs. But since Team 1 have committed double the number of fouls, they are the dirtier team. Logic, eh.

Give up.

As far as Arsenal fans a concerned a tackle is only a foul if it breaks something.

I'm not saying all fouls are equally sever at all, so you can stop arguing with that point because I've not made it.

I'm saying that committing as many fouls as Arsenal do makes them a dirty team. You are trying to shift focus away from that by bringing up leg breaking challenges, straight from page 1 of the Wenger handbook. Whether you like it or not, the fouls your team commit week in and week out make you a dirty team. It's time to accept it.

So you think we're the dirtiest team in the league then, because that's what the stats say? Fine, I just don't even come close to thinking that's remotely plausible.

Show me where I said you are the dirtiest team in the league?

I said the fouls you commit clearly show you are a dirty team. I'm not getting into a conversation of who is the dirtiest, because it takes more than stats and quite frankly I don't actually care. What I do know for definite is that Arsenal are a dirty team who like to break up play with systematic fouling of opposition players.

And for the record, you can thank lady luck for the lack of broken legs your players have caused. I recall Wilshere and Fabregas both coming very close to causing breaks.

I never insinuated you said that, it was a question. That's fair enough - I personally don't believe we're a dirty team, in fact, I think we're just doing what most teams do - foul a bit more tactically, and generally just ensure we're a bit more careful about letting runners go.

And don't exaggerate the Cesc one - it was a yellow. Agreed on Wilshere though.

Arsenal fans definitely seem to struggle between judging a tackle as opposed to the outcome. They've been very unfortunate with serious injuries but the only difference between some of the tackles that have been injured Arsenal players and some tackles by Arsenal players is that they were fortunate not to cause injury.

It's no wonder we clock up cards when you see reffing like Monday's effort.

Fletcher chases after the ref and pushes him - no card.
Nasri complains about a ludicrous pen call by the lino -yellow.

Vidic chops down Chamakh - no card.
Chamakh chops down Nani - yellow

Ferdinand nearly kicks Sagna's bollocks off - no red.
Clichy accidentally handballs- yellow.

This thread is better than the RAWK one at the moment. We don't even have to go and search for things to quote.

It's United now, earlier it was Stoke and Shawcross, as well as you all trying to redefine the meaning of dirty. You and Alastair have been embarrassing yourselves in this thread.

We can't stop here. This is bat country.
Not anyone - the two Man Utd players who should have been sent off in the game in question. One of them for a disgraceful foot up lunge.
You should have seen about 2 red cards by half-time for your systematic anti-football fouling.

But even with 11 you were Championship level, as you usually are in these encounters. 9 would have turned you into a non-league outfit.

As an aside, how's your women's team doing these days? Still winning everything in sight?

Don't talk bollocks and try and change the subject - Ferdinand and Fletcher should both have walked. One for dangerous play and the other for pushing the ref
If the ref actually clamped down on your cynical fouling you'd have finished the game with about 8 men.

I'm not changing the subject - this is a thread about how dirty Arsenal were. And you were very fecking dirty.

fsakes - its a mans fking game

Stop your whining and bitching

You did it to us for years and we were told how "tactical" it was (I dont disagree with that btw) how "legitimate" it was, how it was to combat our superior footballing abilities how we should "grow up and take it"

Stop fking moaning and weeping about it and move on. Often you'd kick the shit out of us and we'd still win.

That's what you just did - enjoy it, put your nappies back in their box and get on to next game

I'm not moaning. We won the match. I don't need to cry and make excuses.

But if Storey wants to play the 'you should have got more red cards than us' game, Arsenal aren't going to come out looking good.

It's a man's game? How can you be so disparaging to the Greatest Arsenal team of all time?
