Yeh, but Ronaldo's price won't be affected by Euro 2012, he's the 2ndbpitw and Portugal aren't going to set the competition alight anyway...
Uniked would happily buy him, teshirt sales alone would pay for the move.

Apparently the Star will break the news tomorrow that Liverpool will swoop with a player plus cash deal worth 80 Million..! The Merseyside club will offer to pay a staggering £79,999,999.99 plus Andy Carroll.

How can we convince Nike to buy us out? There must be a loophole. Uniked and the Theatre of Tick will become a reality.

He'd struggle at Stoke away. He's acclimatised to that sunshine weather.

Do some people on here really think he will sign for City?
I don't, personally. I think his career is worth more to him than money, which he already has in abundance.

People should seriously hope that he doesn't return to the Premier League, because there's only one place he's going to go, and that's Man City.

That's bullshit.

There's only one place he'd go, and that's Manchester United.

Ronaldo would never in a million years go to City.

He is on an escalating wage structure if I remember correctly..summat like 500,000 per week when it gets to the last year...

If he is sold, those wages will have a bearing on what he is sold for.

Also I believe Rooney is on a contract where he has to be matched to the highest earner if he joins us.

If he does come here it looks like City is the obvious destination.

Though it has to be said he moved to Madrid because that was his boyhood club.

The money was not bad either of course.

If he comes for a 'reasonable fee', they could factor his higher wages into the deal.

yup...this is all muppetry :)

I doubt wages will be an issue if he wants to return, as he already makes about £60m/yr in endorsement deals. Therefore he has the luxury of playing for whichever side he wants without any significant effect on his cumulative income.

Ronaldo back to United in the summer? There is more chance of me eating my own scrotum for dinner tonight.

Rubbish - he has always spoken highly of the club and Sir Alex was like a father figure for him. He won't go to City.

He went there because he preferred the weather and they offered him a lot more money then we were willing. He has said that Real is a dream, but he's also said after the 06 World Cup that he would like to play for either Madrid or Barcelona.

It's not that he doesn't want to come back here, but there's absolutely no way we'd be able to afford him. We sold him for £80m, and he's arguably improved since then.

Lots of people are saying that they would like to see him back in this league, so it's just a warning that if it happens, it won't be with us.

I don't think the idea of him going to Man City can be completely dismissed either. I'd hope that he's genuine when he talks about his love of this club, however you can't be 100% certain on it.

Actually, if I was him and holding it to be true that he wants to leave Madrid, if United wasn't an option, for whatever reason, I'd go to Barca.

I feel people here tend to mistake his respect for Sir Alex and what he's done for him as love for the club.

If Sir Alex isnt at United, there's no reason whatsoever for Ronaldo to come here imo.

Its looking more and more likely that his situation in Madrid is unsustainable, especially with their uber-fickle fans.

The treatment the fans are giving him is shocking. I can understand that they're frustrated with him not performing in the El Clasico games, but he's still their best player and his overall contribution in other games may be what wins them the title this season.

If they do that, and then lose him, the fans will quickly realise that they've made a massive mistake.

Dunno if we want him atm, will compromise one of Rooney, Welbeck, Valencia, Hernandez or Nani's position at the club. I see them as far more suited to the more all round passing game we seem to want to play this season and far more forward looking. Ronaldo's time has been and gone.

How much of that 60 million is directly linked to the percentage of his imagine rights that Madrid give him through his contract?

It'd be interesting to find out because I feel we could match something like that no problem, but the fee? He's still got a couple of years left and no matter what the Madrid fans think, the hierarchy would view his sale as a setback in the chase of Barca. We'd be bent over a barrel and minimum they would look for would be their 80 million back. They look good to win the league this year as well which will get him some love, I don't think it would take too much to persuade him to stick around (add in other factors such as climate and lifestyle which I'm sure he enjoys).

Never say never in football, but with the rise of wealthy owners with ludicrous sums of disposal cash, I think we would have to bow out of this fight (if he was intent on leaving),unless he was desperate to get back here.

We might as well have a thread here in the transfers called 'Lionel Messi' because he's just as likely to sign for us as Ronaldo is!

Valencia or Ronaldo....that's a tough choice. Its like choosing between De Gea/Park/Anderson and VDS/Giggs/Scholes in their prime. Let me think about it.

eh? Really? If we can afford him, which i dont think we can, there's no doubt Sir Alex would want him and rightly so.

I think there was a quote some time back about how if he moved in the summer he would come to us only, not ac milan or city. Not sure if it was fake but it was going round, Im unaware of the original source. Ill try to find it...
