Yep...Chuck had weird teeth. They are like perfect shiny white tombstones. He also has that awful old rockstar dye-job that looks ridiculous.Chuck Norris's wife would get it.

It's a buzz word. A disingenuous short hand for "a bit like Stalinism." that they're just blythley allowed to get away with because no Dem is brave enough to try and correct the implication for fear of seeming like Leon Trotsky. I'd love to hear Chuck or a Tea Partier try and explain how their Public School system is inherently less socialist than any proposed Obamacare.A lot of the Florida vote would shit if you told them that Ben-Gurion and Golda Meir were social democrats. The repubs love to talk about Israel and how they support them without ever acknowledging the Israeli form of democracy. Admittedly the current Likud is more like the current repubs, but Israel has a strong history of social welfare that would make teapartiers reach for their M-16s and angrily marching behind Chuck and the Nuge.
They seem to think it's communism.Americas continued wilful misunderstanding of what socialism is never fails to annoy me.
Many Americans are simply ignorant of such things. Many vote for their 'culture'. they see the other side as being aginst their way of life.Americas continued wilful misunderstanding of what socialism is never fails to annoy me.
They also ignore the many examples of once state-owned entities providing worse service for more money under private ownership in Europe.I think it's a more common misunderstanding in the US that social democracy through capitalism is socialism. The American right keeps talking about how socialism has ruined Europe and the Euro, pointing to the debt crisis, despite the fact that every single European Union country is overwhelmingly capitalist/free market orientated.
Austin has been liberal for many years but I believe most of the larger cities in Texas have been red. That could be changing, hopefully. The rural and small-town areas will probably remain a GOP stronghold for years through lack of education and continued "them against us" rhetoric.I visited Dallas a couple years back, folks seemed really nice and very progressive actually. Could have just been Dallas though.
what do you see that is better?I still prefer Fort Worth to Dallas.
I'm biased being born and raised in the west suburbs of Fort Worth. I find the people a bit more friendly and less snobbish than the Dallas folks. I also prefer the slightly slower-paced lifestyle hidden in the big city. The Bass family has invested heavily in renovating the downtown area which has given a rise in the nightlife and tourism. Also a fan of the historic culture and home to one of the top zoos in the country.what do you see that is better?

I've had family all over Texas and spent most summers there as a kid. Streetman pop. 200 in the 'boom' years, the oil fields in the East (Henderson, Kilgore), Houston, Channelview, Beaumont). What used to kill me about Dallas was how it was an absolute ghost town come nightfall. Weird. That was a long time ago though. Deep Ellum was still some fun thoughl. The Streeman deep country side of the family would almost give you hope politically. Hard core, 'Sunday go to meetin' Baptist, but also die hard democrats. They said they'd never be thankful enough for "that good man FDR, bless his soul". They're kids have fallen afoul of the dark side though. Strange how that's happened all over the South.I'm biased being born and raised in the west suburbs of Fort Worth. I find the people a bit more friendly and less snobbish than the Dallas folks. thats what I heard from a director I used to work with from north Dakota. His mum always said it seems. "FDR saved our farm. We will always vote Democrat".I've had family all over Texas and spent most summers there as a kid. Walsh is done...Tammy Duckworth will be a tough opponent for that tea party asshole Joe Walsh.
watch the next speaker mate.I know I'm biased here, but the dems are really coming across as the party of the people. I watched a lot of the RNC coverage and it was all whiny, selfish people. I think the dems are going to knock this one out of the park.
And that is why the conferences are a waste of time. Several thousand followers having wet dreams over every little thing said on stage, and only people that have already made up their minds watching on TV.I know I'm biased here,
It is reflective of the population of the US.First thing I noticed is that the Democratic crowd is a lot more ethnically diverse..
