So how does that book get into the toilet at Hanks? It is, the same book right?
They were at Walt's house in the final scene. So Walt's toilet.

I don't think we've ever seen Hank's back yard. It's probably full of minerals.

Yeah, so meticulous that Walt keeps a copy of a book signed by the guy he used to cook meth with in the bathroom.... This from a guy that can co-ordinate the simultaneous murder of 9 prisoners. Another DEUS EX MACHINA. Well, it's not really, but it's not far off. Massively inconsistent anyway.
Walt keeping that book lying around did seem a bit implausible to me given how throughly they burned down the lab, and the care they take to wash away everything incriminating in acid.
He decided to keep it when he was at his most cocky. After deciding to move back in he pulled the book out and smiled. It probably crossed his mind to get rid of it but he felt invincible at that point.
Just finished watching this episode and I had the exact same feeling about that scene. I was awaiting in fear until some baddies in balaclavas came storming in with shotguns shooting one of the kids or something. It's really strange, it was filmed like something was going to happen right then and there, I was so sure of it.I thought it was a fantastic episode. Walter giving Jesse the money was cool aswell, I hope he gave him way more than the initial 5 million he owed him for the methylamine.

There is a theory that the book was not actually from Gail, but instead from Gretchen. It's a bit of a stretch but it just about works if you squint right.
Walt already knew the poem in the earlier season when talking with Gail remember.
The initials in the book are G.B. but Gretchen's surname is 'Schwartz'... however she could have a maiden name, or the B could be for 'Black' (translation of Schwartz). The theory being that 'Grey Matter' is actually named as a cross between (Walter) White and Schwartz/Black...

I thought it was a pretty good end to the season. I was almost pissing myself with the tension towards the end of the episode.
Did think it was a bit careless of Walt to leave something like that lying around but Solius said that he kept it when he was at his most cocky, and I vaguely remember it. Still I can't help but think its not something that Walt would do due to being so meticulous and careful.

Interesting theory, and it makes sense, but I think you're giving the writers too much credit there. Instead I think they've just employed their usual tactic of making a character behave inconsistently in order to provide an implausible plot twist.
The only way Hank was ever going to be onto him was if he messed up somehow. If he continued to be meticulous and perfect (which he hasn't been this whole season), then he'd never get caught and the show wouldn't move forward.
He has been leas and less careful this entire series. The theft of the methalmine was on a wing and a prayer. The flash cars, the watch, the bugging of Hank's office etc etc
So the book doesn't come as such an isolated incident really, he has just got away with it in the past.

Yeah especially this season he has been too cocky and careless with a lot of things. The theme being that he thinks he is invincible after killing the top dog in drug business. He openly told Skylar where he has been and upto, planted a bug in DEA etc.

I know it will be a U-turn form Hank's personality and wildly unlikely but if anyone can do that convincingly, its this shows writers.

Yeah I suppose all those wee things add up. The poster for the new series was "All Hail The King", which makes sense.
It's not that unlikely actually
As was pointed out before, Hank's predecessor was fired because he didn't spot was Frings was doing, so imagine what would happen to Hank if they found out his own brother in law was Heisenberg? He may yet end up being forced to help him in order to save himself.
Pretty cool summary of Walter's transformation from a mild mannered chemistry teacher into Scarface...
So how will it go down for Hanks superiors when he has to tell them that Heisenberg was his brother in law and he used a gift of drug money for his rehab?

Lots of Gilligan interviews going around. General impression I get is that most of the plot is still up in the air. Lots of his answers are a "I don't know, we're still debating that in the writer's room". But surprised by that, always thought they'd have planned more ahead than just the first eight episodes.
Gilligan has never planned the show ahead, he's always gone on a season by season basis.

Right at the start of season five, episode one, Walt's sitting in a cafe on his 52nd birthday under an assumed identity.
It's the first scene of season five. He's in the restaurant and has all his hair, and makes "52" using bacon.
