James is actually as nice as it gets when it comes to players of his caliber. Also he's one of the most unselfish superstars I've seen in this game. I think if you throw the hate out of this, you'll start seeing things differently.

People hate him for the decision, and he apologized for it like a hundred times, and you're calling him arrogant? People hate him like he killed their sons, when in fact he didn't do much wrong, and he even apologized for what he did wrong, many times.. I don't know what they want him to do.

If James was arrogant, it would never have worked for him in Miami.. Actually, his failure in 2010 was attributed because he was "too humble" on the court.

Wade on the other hand, I can't even understand why anybody would hate him.

Al Jefferson agrees a 3 year $45m deal with the Bobcats. I think Charlotte might have a bright future if they can bring in a couple more stars.

My hate isn't blinding anything. James is one of the best players of all time and I'm glad I'm around to be witnessing him play. To call him one of the nicest players of his calibre is too far. Kevin Durant & Tim Duncan, absolutely. LeBron, not so much. He's a nice/quiet enough guy off the court compared to some absolute idiots you get in the NBA and NFL (see Aaron Hernandez).

I can at least appreciate saying LeBron's hate is unwarranted but Wade's? He's a dirty bastard and flops like feck.

Suffers from roid-rage by the looks of things!

It's why I chose not to respond to his retort of my last post from the other day. I was obviously taking the piss by working in multiple teams and mentioning Magic but he didn't comprehend, nor understanding that I (not others but me alone) root for my hometown clubs and that's how I chose my clubs that I support, save MUFC.

Oh well, these things happen. He doesn't give up and I simply find it a waste of my intellect and time to continue after I've retorted. For brilliant comedy, check out the religion thread to see his posts. The other posters are slaying him in that thread over various things. Personally, he comes off like a JCL know-it-all, but that's just my perception and possibly not the correct assessment. He may be a very likeable cat in the real world.

I've heard some rumors that Mark Jackson impressed Dwight Howard and the Warriors may be the wild card now. However, it was stated that GS would have to do a sign-and-trade to get Howard on board.

Supposedly, Kobe had some choice words for Howard during the Lakers meeting and pussy Howard got his feelings hurt. He's easily the biggest drama queen in league history (Laimbeer was just a bitch on the court). This is today's athlete - coddled by all throughout life due to their athletic prowess (and some due to their charisma as well), in the social media spotlight from an early age, and probably more that I can't quite put in thought/words at the moment.

That said, Howard is a top tier player and the best center in the league. I'll take his demeanor and drama queen act in Dallas. He's a good bet to get a club 20-12-2+ each game.

Why would that be sense? Who taught Michael Jordan how to win? Not a single player on the first Bulls title team had ever won the NBA title before. Howard won defensive play of the year three times. He took a team with Rashard Lewis, Hedo Turkoglu, Courtney Lee, Anthony Johnson and Mikael Pietrus (those are 2-6 in minute played that year, with Howard being 1) to the NBA Finals.

If Kobe can teach Howard how to win, what was this year about?

About a crap coaching hiring after firing another crap coach a few games into the season. Also, one must look into the apparent frailty of Nash's body now - is this a sign how he'll finish his career? Howard claims he wasn't fully fit all season as well. It's not all on Kobe yet haters love to lump it all on him. There are plenty of obvious reasons why the Lakers season tanked. Kobe is clearly a proven winner. The Spurs were terrified of facing a potential first round matchup with a fit Lakers side, that is until Kobe was lost.

Trent Dilfer won a Super Bowl - does that make him a winner and Dan Fouts a loser? That Orlando side featured a Turkoglu that was incredible in the playoffs off a career year, and Lewis and Nelson having career years. It wasn't all Howard. The Magic are nowhere near the NBA Finals (in which they were destroyed by the Lakers btw) without Turkoglu's postseason performances. If Kobe truly made some statement about being a winner he needs himself to teach Howard, that's a bit hyperbole. However, is it actually confirmed he stated that exact way or was it more along the lines of "to win we need to play together/stay in LA?"

Some clearly do (Van Gundy is very knowledgeable for example just like Gary Neville is - you won't hear CAF members stating Gary hasn't a clue, partially due to his United ties of course).

Can't dismiss all of them based on a collective majority. I trust a former player's insight far more than a career journalist or radio/tv personality. For every imbecilic Walton you can find a solid analyst; for every Theismann you can find quality like Aikman. I tend to find ex-MLB and ex-NFL guys a bit more insightful than ex-NBA guys.

Who knows. Some people have extremely long reaches all the way inside locker rooms, coaching circles, and front offices. That includes journalists as well so sometimes their sources can be spot on.

Kobe's pitch is sure to put Howard off, if the Lakers even want to win they need to play through Howard but Kobe's arrogance still has him thinking that he is the most important player on the team. If he really wanted them to keep Howard he would not have pitched like that but he has never been a great team mate. This season looks to be a wash anyway even with Howard but if Howard does not sign the future of the Lakers looks ominous in all honesty. They will make a few trades, sign a few free agents in the next few seasons but Kobe has been talking about 7 titles he is having a laugh. They are going nowhere currently if Howard wants to win the Lakers would be last on his list.

According to LA journalists on twitter, Howard has apparently made his decision, but being the diva he is, he won't announce it just yet. I think he'll end up in Houston.

Lakers are in big trouble next season if he does go, at least we'll have cap space next year.

Chosen the Rockets apparently. Good move for him, leaves us in a mess though.

On a side note, US journalists are far more reliable on twitter than the UK/soccer ones.

Don't blame him. I don't like his attention seeking/always acting like a clown/must-be-loved-by-everyone personality but this was the best basketball decision for him to make.

However, I know there's 3 apparent reasons for him leaving, but I wonder if Howard would have stayed if the Lakers got rid of the cnut that is the coach?

It's 30m difference in salary, as much as he hates Lakers, they still stand to give him the most money, in his ideal world, he gets signed and traded to a team of his liking. Whether the Lakers will do that is another story.

He can recoup quite a bit of the 30m in his next contract which would end after four years versus five, if what I've read is true. What he looses in annual salary, something like 2m per year over four years, he would offset much of that in Texas with no state income tax. Just like Bosh and James who can opt out earlier and recoup much of that lost fifth/sixth years in a new contract, as well as living in Florida with no state income tax. These two, and Howard in a similar situation, by opting out earlier can max out with the current club and actually make more in the fifth/sixth years, or hit the free agent road and still get max money or close too.
