Welcome to Manchester reception committee
If he didn't want to leave then why did he? Did Real push him out the door?
Allegedly yes. He'd been flirting with a few other clubs, like United and PSG for a while, maybe hoping for reassurance.

When decision day came it's rumoured he was having second thoughts, but it was too late. He got some negative responses from Perez and Ancelotti.

The fans didn't want to lose him though. They were chanting "Don't sell Ozil" during the Bale presentation, much to Perez's irritation.

on the radio this morning some caller was saying Arse & Utd got it backwards; we need an Ozil and the Arse need a Fellaini.

Ozil's obviously a brilliant purchase by Arsenal. To make full use of him though, they need Giroud to step up to the next level or buy a real finisher...someone like Chicharito.

With him, I think they have enough to take a swing for the title if a few things go their way. Obviously, they have weaknesses in the squad but all of us do and there's a lot to be said for continuity.

I still find it hard to believe that arsenal actually managed to pull this deal off. When I first read it I laughed and thought there wasn't a chance in hell they'd get him. Well done Arsene.

Well he automatically goes in to top 5 in the league so always a great signing. Don't know how much he'll bring this season though as they still haven't sorted the defence or the striker which needed more arthritis than a/m the one position they had their best players. But definitely a good foundation for next season if wenger buys the right players around him.

Ridiculous how upset Utd fans are over this Arsenal signing, great player but we already have two, going on four number tens!

Ozil is better than Kagawa for sure. As I said before if Rooney's head is in the right place and if he shows the form he was in two seasons ago, then I guess you could say they might be on par. Four #10's? Just because a player plays behind a striker doesnt automatically make him a #10. Welbeck aint a #10. He is far from a playmaker. Fellaini is not going to be used there. He was bought as cover for central midfielder. And Januzag is not ready.

Hard to tell. Kagawa hardly plays.

No doubt he's a terrific player, but I hope we allow Kagawa to show us what he's all about. Then we can judge.
Oh no doubt I want Kagawa to succeed here but I was merely pointing out to the fact that currently Ozil is better.

Excellent signing by the gooners, will be inspirational for them and they deserve a player like him.

He's used to the physicality of Germans league, and the fast counter attack on Mou's Madrid day.
He'd be suit to boot at our team :(

I hope so. No more letting skilful player fooling around with the ball on our defensive third.

Some muppet on talkshite said Arsenal would finish second if they signed David Luiz instead of Ozil.

Graham Hunter has allegedly said that Ozil & his father drug the transfer out waiting for United to come in and we never did.

We'd have 4-5 full internationals, on high wages, and expectant of regular games sitting on the bench or even in the stands if we signed this guy. We would have to get rid of a couple of players for this deal to materialize, and Moyes has kept just about everyone.

I'd love for us to have gotten rid of say Young and/or Tony V as they've both been pretty dire for a while, and Young is on an outrageous wage.

Just for debate: What do you think Fergie would do with Ozil, had he still been in charge the past summer? I think he'll sign him for sure and flog Rooney in a heartbeat. For better or for worse, Moyes wasn't as decisive.

Ozil became available very late in the window. Whether he'd do it or not, Moyes never had the chance to flog Rooney to get Ozil.
