I've realised it would be nice to have a thread about music on here that I could post in, so decided to make this thread for general discussions, recommendations etc.

If possible when posting videos, if links could be used instead of direct embedding that would be quite nice as my browser goes into a coma when presented with a page full of Youtube videos.

I'm currently going through this album for the first time;

Pretty good on first listening, I'm enjoying it so far. Here's a playlist for anyone who wants to listen: Youtube or Spotify.

Can't see the image at work but I'll check it out later. Saw The Bronx in Newcastle back in February and they had a Canadian supprt band called Single Mothers. Bought the EP Christian Girls is a great song. Proper low production value punk rock.

Just listened to a couple of tracks from both of those on Youtube, both sound pretty good but from what I heard I prefer The Bronx.

Yeah, The Bronx are definitely the better band, hopefully Single Mothers have a full length album coming out soon. They're both excellent live though.

I've been listening to the Swords Of A Thousand Men album by Tenpole Tudor for a couple of months now. It's so good I'm hooked and have barely listened to anything else.

Don't know about the album but the title track is catchy alright.

Really good album IMO, good mixture of their punk and post-punk/gothic rock sounds.

I'm more a metalhead, Metallica, Maiden and the like, then again, I can swing and go all dance and techno.

Any suggestions of stuff thats Similar to any of Pennywise, Bad Religion, Rise Against or Dropkicks?

Normally hard rock and metal but have a soft spot for those bands.

Maybe try something like Samhain. November-Coming-Fire album is a good place to start.

When Jim Lindberg left Pennywise for a short while he formed a new band called The Black Pacific. The album they put out is very similar to Pennywise's stuff.

No Fun at All, Good Riddance, Rancid, Adolescents, Descendents are a few others to start with.

Though I do like their earlier stuff, I can't think of many bands like Rise Against at the moment. But try Ignite, they're quite similar.

Dropkicks?

Flogging Molly, The Real McKenzies, Street Dogs. I would have recommended The Pogues first but I'd hope most people would already know them

Also, to both you metalheads, try Propagandhi.

Nah. I guess there are some similarities with punk and grunge, but I've never seen Nirvana as a punk band.

Tried giving them ago. Wasn't that keen. I think my problem with alot of punk is it's not very polished at all (I know thats kind of the point) but the terrible recording quality / mixing makes a lot of bands sound very samey.

Umm except I did mistake grunge for punk ( or visa versa). I've moved past this music long ago so I couldn't give a shit if I mistake one for another one odd time. I don't like indian music either. It's called a "preference btw. Look it up. You'll be shocked.

I'm not an expert on music but I'm very passionate about it (at least the kind I listen to these days) and enjoy making my own.

Regarding the non-polished bit mentioned earlier, I actually prefer the demo versions of some songs because of that sound. EG;

Great song. Bullet is one of my favourite Misfits songs, I just wish they weren't totally shit now.

Yeah, it's a pretty sad state. Danzig and Doyle often do some Misfits stuff live though which is pretty great and an infinite amount better than the current "Misfits"

I'm never sure on genre classification, but Moving Targets' Burning in Water is a great album.

youtube link to short interview and performance for tv (playing starts around 4.30). Most tracks are off their second album, Brave Noise, & Chuck Freeman has replaced Pat Leonard on bass. Some great footage of Pat Brady's Moonesque drumming, anyway.

I quite like some of the Chameleons' writing, Script of the Bridge is really Julian Copey . The drum sound does me in, though.
