Jawbox are the best. If you dig Jawbox, I recommend Burning Airlines. J Robbins' band after Jawbox. They don't get the recognition they deserve. Mission Control is one of my favourite records of all time.
Glad someone else on here recognizes this brilliant band. My favorite band ever from L.A. Was lucky enough to be living in L.A. in the late 70s early 80s and saw this band loads of times when they were just starting in a really exciting time for music. These guys are top drawer musicians as well.
Awesome. Wish I was around at that time so I could see most of my favourite bands in their prime.Glad someone else on here recognizes this brilliant band. My favorite band ever from L.A. There's a fantastic documentary on their early years, X: The Unheard Music, that is a must for any fan of theirs.
Wow Teengenerate! I love 'Dressed In Black' by them.
Great band, love a bit of The FlatlinersThe new Flatliners album took a bit to grow on me. Can't get enough of it now. This song is absolutely banging:
Certainly my favourite of the modern punk rock lot.
I can if I put post-punk in the middleYou cannae put punk wit new wave man....
Oh, didn't see it was your thread, Olly can do what he wants!I can if I put post-punk in the middle
You're too kind (and probably too generous but I wont complain).Oh, didn't see it was your thread, Olly can do what he wants!
Plus you know your music.
Great choiceBad Religion
Mostly I think the same about them, but usually there's also a gem in every record. The older ones have a few more IMO.Had the first few Bad Religion albums back in the day. Problem is they became very samey after a while
Killing Joke are post-punk, and I guess The Cult's earlier stuff is probably post-punk, but not so much their later stuff...? I think.I'm awful at tagging music with wierd names. I like The Cult and Killing Joke. Would you say that they are "post-punk"? Astbury says that they are "punk-rockers". Is that the same shit?
Well, to be fair i like their later stuff more than their earlier stuff. I'm not really into Dreamtime and the likes. Too much chorus and modulation sounds, IMO.Killing Joke are post-punk, and I guess The Cult's earlier stuff is probably post-punk, but not so much their later stuff...? I think.
Ah. I haven't listened to much of The Cult apart from a few earlier tracks like She Sells Sanctuary so I'm not sure what to put them as overall, so I'll play it safe and say hard rock.Well, to be fair i like their later stuff more than their earlier stuff. Only really Entertainment is good.I got a couple Gang of Four albums last week. They haven't clicked with me from the quick listen I've given them so far, but a couple of the songs were good. Will listen to them again some time.
Listening to this album at the moment
I listened to a couple of tracks about a year ago and was meaning to check out some of their albums but never got round to it. Will do it nowOnly really Entertainment is good.
